In a battle for the U.K.’s first-ever download-only Christmas No. 1, Rage Against The Machine beat newly crowned X Factor winner Joe McElderry.
Rage Against The Machine challenged their fans to download the bands 1992 track ‘Killing In The Name’ and, thanks to hundreds of thousands of members of a Facebook group aimed at getting the band’s song to No. 1, the band succeeded and landed on top of the chart above McElderry’s cover of Miley Cyrus’ ‘The Climb’.
The race to number one was a heated one with X Factor creator, Simon Cowell, expressing his distaste for the campaign to keep McElderry from the No. 1 spot.

Here’s your first look at Leona Lewis’ new music video for her current single ‘I Got You’. Check out these pics that were taken during her shoot.
Although her album hasn’t sold as well as her label had hoped her in the states, it is worth noting that it has been certified double platinum in the UK.
And Lewis also sings the theme song to the No. 1 movie at the box office, Avatar. The theme song ‘I See You’, not to be confused with her current single ‘I Got You’, is very reminiscent of Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’ from Titanic. It will be interesting to see if ‘I See You’ makes its way onto the charts.

Boy George Was Surprised By “Nice” Inmates

Pop star Boy George was stunned to discover the convicts he spent time with as an inmate at London’s Pentonville Prison were polite.
The former Culture Club frontman was jailed in January for the false imprisonment and assault of a male escort in 2007. He was initially terrified about coming face to face with hardened criminals before his sentence began, but he was treated with nothing but respect.
He tells TV host Jonathan Ross, “The first 48 hours were a little bit of a shock to me! When you walk in, Pentonville is a Victorian prison so it’s a classic. Every movie you’ve ever seen, it’s that kind of set-up. When you walk in, you’ve got the balconies, the safety nets, people shouting Karma Chameleon, banging things.”
“You get a lot of attention when you first go in, especially if you’re Boy George. But, in a funny sort of way, people were actually quite sweet; people would come up to me and say, ‘Do you need a tooth brush, a mirror?’ There’s some nice people in prison!”
And once he got past the initial shock of being a prisoner, the singer started to come to terms with life behind bars: “You think, ‘How am I going to make this work for me?’ I got a job in the kitchen, made the vegetarian food. The more you do that, the quicker it (the sentence) goes. They probably thought I was going to be a complete nightmare.”
Boy George, real name George O’Dowd, served just four months of his 15-month sentence, and admits there were benefits to the home detention that followed his release.
He adds, “I spent four months in jail, four months on tag – home detention – which meant I was on a curfew from seven to seven. I couldn’t go in my garden! Basically, if you go out of range, it buzzes. I had no trouble with it.”
“In a funny sort of way, when I came off tag I got a bit depressed because all the time I was at home on tag, I had a get-out clause for everything! If I didn’t want to go somewhere, I’d say, ‘Can’t do that, I’m on tag!’ which was great! I can’t use that excuse anymore.”

Robbie Williams Performs Live For BBC’s Electric Proms Concert Series

Robbie Williams made a triumphant live comeback in London last night (Oct. 21), as part of the BBC’s Electric Proms series of concerts.
Appearing at the London Roundhouse with a 38-piece band, including string and brass sections — led by Trevor Horn, who produced Williams’ new album “Reality Killed the Video Star” — Williams was in confident, relaxed form from the start. He made his entrance down a white staircase to current single “Bodies,” which entered the U.K. charts at No. 2 on Oct. 18.
Williams premiered seven songs from the new album, due Nov. 9 in the United Kingdom on Virgin Records. As well as “Bodies,” he aired what he said would be the album’s second single, “You Know Me,” alongside “Morning Sun,” “Blasphemy,” “Starstruck,” “Deceptacon” and “Won’t Do That.” Most of the new material harks back to Williams’ trademark adult pop sound, with little of the experimentation that marked his last album “Rudebox,” which proved a critical and commercial flop.
Stephen Davies, director of audio and music at BBC Worldwide said: ”We knew that there would be significant interest in this concert, but the public reaction has exceeded all of our expectations.”
UPDATE: Robbie Williams set a world record yesterday by having the most screenings of a live concert in theaters. The BBC’s live show “Electric Proms” was broadcast simultaneously in venues all over the world in 23 countries.Extra screenings are planned in the coming weeks for countries a bit further from Williams’ native England including Australia and South Africa.
