50cent 1

Judging by a few posts on his Twitter, it seems that 50 Cent is not feeling optimistic. “I don’t think I’m gonna live much longer,” he wrote during a series of tweets. Earlier today, he clarified the remark: “To be conscious that life is short is not suicidal,” he wrote. “I’m good if I die tonight.”

The rapper also claimed that he has “lost all the faith in the team I’m on. I have nothing left to say. I will not be promoting my music.” The comment comes after months of discord between the artist and Interscope Records, who are expecting the delivery of his next album. Last month, 50 Cent released the self-produced mixtape The Big 10, marking the 10-year anniversary of 50 Cent Is the Future.

50 Cent has been keeping busy by concentrating on promoting Street King, his new energy drink, proceeds of which to go to fight world hunger. At an event last month for the launch of his new line of headphones, 50 Cent talked about signing Jersey Shore’s Pauly D to G-Note Records.

American Idol fans were outraged over the elimination of frontrunner Pia Toscana on last night’s results show. With flawless vocal performances each week and nothing but praise from the judges, no one expected Pia to be sent home, much less be in the bottom 3. Twitter was buzzing when word quickly spread about Pia’s departure. Pia instantly became a trending topic on Twitter and celebrities took to the social media outlet to express their shock and outrage over the results.

Ryan Seacrest: Can’t get over last night’s #AmericanIdol! So bizarre. After I read the results I thought to myself, ‘did I get that right?’

Jennifer Lopez: I am truly sad. I can’t believe this happened. You have to vote for who you love! We will miss you @ptoscanoAI10 !!

Jennifer Hudson: “I can not believe they just eliminated pia ! ReAlly..????”

Ellen DeGeneres: “Are you watching Idol? I am shocked and sad.”

Ashton Kutcher: “Who are the people that vote on American Idol? That’s just crazy! That Pia girl is dope. #almostcriminal.”

Tom Hanks: “Don’t have an Idol habit, but how could the USA vote Pia off? I may be done for the season.”

Minka Kelly: Will someone please explain to me HOW in the WORLD @PToscanoAI10 (Pia) has been voted off American Idol?! #baffled!!

Maksim Chmerkovskiy: Wow just watched American Idol for the first time this season and they got rid of the best female singer this season! Pia was amazing! I’ll never complain about our eliminations…..hehehe

Dax Shepard: This did not just happen!!! How??? I’m going to do something radical. I love you Pia! This is more egregious than that no-hitter that was ruined by that ump. I’m going to do something drastic. This has put me in an unstable mood.

Alyssa Milano: What in the world? Pia? Pia was sent home? How is that possible? I’m so confused. #AmericanIdol @PToscanoAI10 Keep your head up, beauty girl. You’re an awesome talent.

Ali Fedotwosky: I JUST heard that Pia got eliminated from #AmericanIdol last night. How is that possible? The judges need to bring her back! #AI

Bette Midler: They dumped Pia!! How did that happen??

David Cook: Bad call tonight on Idol.

Chris Daughtry: What the crap!!?? I thought Pia was THE best singer on the show this year!

Kimberly Cladwell: “Did Pia just get voted off idol?! She’s too hot for people to take her seriously! That’s crap”

Snooki of “Jersey Shore”: “Pia should have won the whole thing! I’m not watchin Idol anuymore. I’m with JLO on this one…”

Sammi Giancola of “Jersey Shore”: “WHAT!!!!!!!!!” and “wow. upset over American Idol right now.”

Comedian Marlon Wayans: “Pia eliminated not fair! Who do the teens wack off to now? Dammit life’s not fair… Well kids, there’s always j-lo”.

After the show, Pia tweeted, “I’m truly going to miss my idol family! Thank you @JLo Randy and Steven for believing in me. Love you and love my fans!”

Let’s not forget, American Idol is a show about ratings, sponsors, and media blitz. Every year, Idol focuses on voter participation and tells America that the results show people aren’t voting enough for their favorites. The show is sponsored by AT&T and the more texts viewers send, the more money everyone makes. Pia was their ticket to making more money. It’s just unfortunate that someone so talented was cut so soon. Pia won’t have a problem with her career now that her Idol days are over, it just would have been nice to see her perform each week and make it to the finale. At the end of the day, the producers have the final say and they got exactly what they wanted. American Idol is the only thing people are talking about today.

Launched today on Billboard.com, Uncharted gives a vast market of emerging talent the opportunity to be ranked and discovered. Billboard’s Uncharted is part of its new Dreamseekers initiative that will include not only the Uncharted ranking but also Billboard Pro, a comprehensive tool to help artists manage and grow their online fan base.

Occupying the No. 1 slot on the inaugural Uncharted ranking is hip-hop solo artist Traphik, a Long Beach, California-based Thai-American rapper known for his comedic YouTube videos and rhymes. Other artists in the top five include DJ BL3ND, Colette Carr, Javier Jofre and the Deadlies.

With a universe of millions of artists creating and sharing their music on digital platforms to amass an audience, many are serious about a career but have not arrived on the mainstream music scene. They may not have a retail story or a radio story, but they have leveraged the Internet’s powerful role in music consumption and have a noteworthy following. Uncharted is an artist discovery tool for the music industry’s ecosystem of recording labels, talent management, concert promoters, music publishers, radio, film, television and advertising executives as well as passionate music fans.

“Uncharted is about launching careers. We want to serve as a conduit for artists to step onto a broader stage, ultimately topping one of the major Billboard charts,” said Billboard Editorial Director Bill Werde. “Record labels, publishers and other music companies are always looking for ways to make smarter bets on emerging talent, and we think the Uncharted ranking will be a significant tool for those who would invest in music.” Read more

Rihanna holds at No. 1 for a third non-consecutive week on the Social 50 chart, which ranks the most active artists on the world’s leading social networking sites — MySpace, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and iLike.

The ranking uses a formula blending weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with weekly artist page views and weekly song plays. The final ranking also includes a measurement that identifies the ratio of page views to fans.

Justin Bieber bumps up 3-2, his third week in the runner-up slot in the five weeks that the chart has been in existence.

Lady Gaga rebounds 6-3 to reach a new peak, the Black Eyed Peas and Eminem stand still, holding at number 4 and 5, respectively. Akon ascends 7-6.

Leave it to a racy video to turn on the social masses. Enrique Iglesias’ not-safe-for-work clip for “Tonight I’m F*****’ You” premiered last week online and set the viral world on fire. The singer vaults from No. 21 to No. 7 with the largest gain of Facebook fans (up 125%) on the chart following the debut of “Tonight’s” sexually charged video on December 23.

Rounding out the top 10 are Michael Jackson, who moves up a slot to No. 8, Linkin Park, which climbs 10-9, and Katy Perry, who drops 8-10.

It seems like the promotion for Lady Gaga’s upcoming album ‘Born This Way’ may already be underway as the pop star and her team have begun revealing more and more details about what fans can expect on the new album.

Akon told MTV:

“If I was going to compare it to her previous work, I would definitely say it’s a notch up,” he said. “It’s like she’s slowly taking you on to this journey down this road. If she were to just drastically do it, she probably would have lost everybody from the first album, but once the sound was created and established, now we can use that as a tool to grab all the monsters and walk them down this graveyard. It’s crazy. It’s amazing.”

The Lady Gaga took to her twitter account and revealed the following:

“Endless melodies, hooks, + poetry sledge-hammering my skull. It won’t be much longer, its almost perfect. But I (we) don’t want almost.”

Sounds like it’s going to be another incredible year in the world of Lady Gaga.
