Big Time Music Manager Is Looking For The Next Big Web Star

The manager behind the Jonas Brothers, Backstreet Boys, and N’Sync is looking online for his next pop act.
On Wednesday, Johnny Wright will begin accepting video auditions worldwide from aspiring musicians, ages 16 to 30. The field will gradually be winnowed down through challenges and a boot camp in Los Angeles.
A final band will be chosen in June 2011.
Wright’s search will be followed in the 21-episode Web series “On the Spot: Johnny Wright’s Quest for the Next Pop Sensation.” It will be streamed by AT&T’s U-verse TV service, and Cambio.com, the music site co-owned by the Jonas Group, AOL and MGX Labs.
Wright is recognizable not just from the acts he has managed but also from Sean “Diddy” Combs’ MTV show “Making the Band” and NBC’s short-lived “Fame.” He said he’s often approached in public — at places like the Cheesecake Factory or Footlocker — where people give impromptu auditions, singing a song or rapping a few lines.
“I always felt uncomfortable because I felt like I had to give them an immediate response to what they did and I didn’t have enough time to register what they did,” Wright says. “A friend of mine named Doug flipped out his camera phone, and he started filming the person on camera.”
Wright would upload the videos to his website, http://www.wegmusic.com, and see what fans thought of the performers. Later, when Cambio asked about a possible Web series, Wright said his improvised auditions might be the basis of something.
Auditions will run through Feb. 25. The series, which can be watched online and on mobile phones through U-Verse and Cambio, will begin in January.
Wright says he wants to see sincere passion come through in the auditions.
“When I see something that I like, my leg starts to shake back and forth,” says Wright, laughing. “That’s my tick. When that happens, I know I’m interested in something.”

No. 1 selling recording artist Demi Lovato and the multi-platinum-selling artists, the Jonas Brothers are featured on the soundtrack of the summer–Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam–set to rock into stores and online retailers on Tuesday, August 10th. The album features 15-all new songs from the movie, including three bonus songs (“Different Summers,” “Walkin’ In My Shoes” and “It’s Not Too Late”). “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” is a full out rock ‘n roll musical that celebrates music, dance and the freedom of summer and reminds viewers to ‘enjoy the journey.’ This summer of fun opens on a high-pitched Camp Rock reunion. All the Camp Rockers have returned, eager to tune up and rock out but a glistening new camp across the lake, Camp Star, poaches Camp Rock’s counselors and may put Camp Rock out of business. Mitchie Torres (played by Demi Lovato) steps it up as she challenges the egocentric Camp Star to an end-of-summer performance duel–it’s on!
Nick Jonas commented, “In the first movie, music was part of it. This one–music tells the story.” Demi Lovato added, “In this movie there are several different kinds of music — and music is what drives ‘Camp Rock 2′.”

The Jonas Brothers are back, and they are going on tour this summer.
We were all worried that Nick’s solo career and Kevin getting married would potentially be the end of the Jonas Brothers as we knew it! Well we can all relax, Kevin confirmed a summer concert tour.
Kevin told Radio Disney “We are going back on tour this summer.”
Nick claims that this tour will be huge, he said “It will be unlike any tour we’ve done before, and we’re really looking forward to getting back out there with our fans.”
There should be an official announcement any day now.
“We Are The World 25 For Haiti” Premiers At The Olympics Opening Ceremonies

If you missed the Opening Ceremonies of the Vancouver Olympics on Friday night, chances are you missed the world premier of the ‘We Are The World 25 For Haiti’ remake.
A shortened, tightly edited version aired on NBC and there were definitely some surprises. The remake included many trends in popular music including everyone’s best friend, auto-tune. It also included rap, as well as translation into Creole, one of Haiti’s official languages. Michael Jackson posthumously appeared in the video alongside his sister, Janet. What was meant to be a touching tribute to Jackson was kind of awkward. Every other singer was filmed in front of a microphone while they were recording, however Janet was shot in front of a green screen with no microphone in sight and you couldn’t really hear her.
The song also started with Justin Bieber. I’m sure Bieber’s fans went nuts, but really? And I was surprised that Miley Cyrus wasn’t included in the shortened version. Cyrus sang on the second verse, which you can see in the extended version of the video here on iMusicDaily.
Regardless of what we think, ‘We Are The World 25 For Haiti’ is a great effort to raise money for Haiti. You can download the remake of ‘We Are The World 25 For Haiti’ and donate HERE.

Say buh-bye to The Brothers Jonas; curly-topped heartthrob Nick is going solo!
Did you hear that? Somewhere, a Twilight-lovin’, boy band-obsessed teenage girl just had a heart attack.
Jonas Family matriarch, Denise Jonas, spilled the beans on the unfortunate news in an interview with Parade.com on Tuesday.
Nick Jonas is leaving his brothers behind – at least temporarily, says Mom. The 17-year-old has started his own solo act and is looking forward to revamping his image all by his lonesome.
“Nick is working on a solo act — it’s called Nick Jonas and The Administration. Shhh! He’s at the photo shoot for the album cover right now.”
Wasn’t there a group in the sixties called The Administration? Or was that The Association? Who the heck knows…..Anywho, in related news, Denise also reveals that her eldest son, Kevin Jonas, 21, has set a wedding date with Jersey Girl fiancée Danielle Deleasa — who accepted his proposal last July.
“Kevin and his fiancée Danielle have set their wedding date — but it’s completely private. Danielle, bless her heart, is from a great little Italian family. She is everything I ever prayed for and hoped for Kevin.”
