Country-pop starlet Taylor Swift’s record label was forced to release the first single from her upcoming album 12 days ahead of schedule on Wednesday, hours after a bootleg version appeared online.

Big Machine Records said in a statement that the MP3 file of “Mine” was “low-quality,” and it wanted fans to hear the single in its proper form via iTunes and country radio. It was not immediately known who was responsible for the leak.

The song, which Swift recently described as a song of hope inspired by her recent tendency to run from love, quickly went to No. 1 on iTunes’ real-time chart.

“I landed in Japan and got 20 texts and looked at iTunes and got tears in my eyes,” she said on Twitter. “And so, we begin again.”

Swift’s third album, “Speak Now,” remains on course for a worldwide release on October 25. It marks the follow-up to her album of the year Grammy winner “Fearless,” which has sold 5.95 million copies in the United States and currently sits at No. 45 on the pop album chart in its 90th week.

Taylor moved to Nashville when she was 14 years old and she understands the severity of the flooding and she wants to help in any way she can. Taylor announced her donation Thursday night following Vince Gill’s telethon to raise money for all the victims of the disaster.

“Being at home during the storm, I honestly could not believe what was happening to the city and the people I love so dearly,” Swift told The Associated Press in an e-mail. “Nashville is my home, and the reason why I get to do what I love. I have always been proud to be a Nashvillian, but especially now, seeing the love that runs through this city when there are people in crisis.”

Taylor Swift will be gracing the cover of ELLE Magazine in April.

Here’s what she had to say:

She tells Elle magazine, “I like to categorize the various levels of heartbreak. I’ve only had that (had her heart broken) happen once. A letdown is worth a few songs. A heartbreak is worth a few albums.”

Kelly Clarkson Chimes In On The Taylor Swift Grammy Controversy

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson has written an open letter to a record executive who defended Taylor Swift’s off-key performance at the 2010 Grammy Awards by declaring. Scott Borchetta came to Swift’s aid on Thursday after critics picked apart her duet with Stevie Nicks at the Los Angeles ceremony last Sunday. Scott Borchetta felt that Swift should be excused for the slip.

He said, “This is not American Idol. This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note. This is about a true artist and writer and communicator. It’s not about that technically perfect performance.”

Kelly Clarkson took this quite personal, here’s what she had to say.

In a post on her official blog, she writes, “Wow… Dear Scott Borchetta, I understand defending your artist obviously because I have done the same in the past for artists I like, including Taylor, so you might see why it’s upsetting to read you attacking American Idol for producing simply vocalists that hit ‘the high notes’… You know what, we not only hit the high notes, you forgot to mention we generally hit the ‘right’ notes as well. Every artist has a bad performance or two and that is understandable, but throwing blame will not make the situation at hand any better.”

“I have been criticized left and right for having shaky performances before (and they were shaky) and what my manager or label executives say to me and the public is ‘I’ll kick butt next time’ or ‘every performance isn’t going to be perfect’. I bring this up because you should take a lesson from these people and instead of lashing out at other artists (that in your ‘humble’ opinion lack true artistry), you should simply take a breath and realize that sometimes things won’t go according to plan or work out and that’s okay.”

The pop star then signed her message, “Sincerely, One of those contestants from American Idol who only made it because of her high notes.”

So there you have it! What side are you on? Hahaha

Taylor Swift scared off a high school bully by handing the phone to her bodyguard when he called her unexpectedly recently.

The Love Story singer still has no idea why the unnamed guy called her or how he got hold of her cellphone number, but she had great pleasure in listening to her burly New York minder terrify him.

Swift says, “He calls up my phone… and he’s like, ‘Is Taylor there?’ and I just handed it to my bodyguard and I was like, ‘John, give him a talking to’. So he’s like, ‘Yo, you don’t ever call this number ever again. I put my fist through your face.’ It was really great, it was effective.”

Swift insists the school bully, who was always mean to her, has never called back.

Country sensation Taylor Swift is suing the owners of a bar in Idaho for allegedly playing her songs without permission.

The Love Story hit-maker has teamed up with Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), the organization which collects license fees on behalf of songwriters and distributes them as royalties, to file a copyright infringement lawsuit against The Sports Cellar venue.

The legal action comes after BMI representatives allegedly discovered that Swift’s hits were being used to entertain revelers even though the bar’s owners had failed to obtain a proper music license.

According to TMZ.com, Swift and BMI bosses are seeking unspecified damages.
