Taylor Swift returned to the #1 slot on the U.S. pop album chart, pushing Susan Boyle to the #2 spot, and Michael Jackson’s album coming in at the #3 spot.
Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now” sold 259,000 copies during the week ended December 19, which was enough to give it a third nonconsecutive week at No. 1. With sales of 2.6 million after just eight weeks, “Speak Now” is the year’s third-best selling set, behind Eminem’s “Recovery” (3.2 million) and Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” (3 million).
Susan Boyle’s “The Gift” followed close behind with 254,000 copies, and a six week-total of 1.6 million. It spent four nonconsecutive weeks at #1 which is just incredible!
Jackson’s much buzzed-about “Michael” sold 228,000 copies, a little higher than initial industry prognostications last week. The late pop star topped the chart a year ago when his “This Is It” soundtrack opened to 373,000 copies.
It is true, Taylor Swift and Susan Boyle can’t be stopped!

Scottish singer Susan Boyle’s second album “The Gift” held on to the top spot on the Billboard 200 album charts for a second week, beating new releases by R&B artist Rihanna, and Kid Rock.
Boyle, who became an Internet sensation after appearing on “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2009, also scored a rare second-week sales increase, up 5 percent with 335,000 sales of her Christmas-themed album, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Boyle was joined by a kindred TV spirit as 10-year-old “America’s Got Talent” runner-up Jackie Evancho saw her “O Holy Night” bow with 239,000 at No. 2. The four song EP — bolstered with a DVD of performances — carries an economical list price of $8.
Rihanna captured her fifth top 10 set with “Loud” coming in at No. 3 with 207,000 — her best sales week yet — while her single “Only Girl” rebounded to No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart.
Boyle and Evancho’s albums are two of three holiday efforts in the top 10, making the biggest Christmas tally since January 1993. The cast of TV musical comedy “Glee” with their “Christmas Album” came in at No. 8 with 161,000.
The top nine albums all sold more than 100,000 each.
Josh Groban’s “Illuminations” lit up at No. 4 with 191,000 sales. Kid Rock’s “Born Free” bowed at No. 5 with 189,000, with digital downloads accounting for 23,000 of his total. It is the sixth top 10 for both singers.
Rascal Flatts’ “Nothing Like This” entered at No. 6 with 165,000, marking the country band’s seventh top 10 album. Meanwhile, Keith Urban saw his latest release, “Get Closer,” start at No. 7 with 162,000.
The eighth and final top 10 debut of the week belonged to Nelly, who took 10th place with his “5.0″ shifting 63,000.
Aside from Boyle, the only holdover in the top 10 was Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now,” which dropped seven slots to No. 9 in its fourth week.
On the digital songs chart, the “Glee” cast’s take on Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You,” featuring actress Gwyneth Paltrow, arrived at No. 1 with 192,000. It was Paltrow’s second No. 1 on a Billboard music chart following “Cruisin’,” a duet with Huey Lewis, which topped the adult contemporary radio chart in 2000.
Green’s original version of “Forget You” (aka “F*** You”) rallied up 10 slots to a new peak of No. 2 with a one-week high of 191,000 downloads (up 94 percent).
The “Glee” mash-up of “Singing in the Rain/Umbrella” also made the Top 10, taking 7th place with 140,000 downloads.
Overall album sales in the chart week ending November 21 totaled 8.12 million units, up 2 percent compared to the comparable sales week of 2009.
Year to date album sales stand at 261.78 million, down 13% compared to the same total at this point last year. Digital track sales for the week were 22.47 million, up 19 percent compared to the comparable week of 2009.

Singing sensation Susan Boyle has a No. 1 album in the United States and the U.K. simultaneously for the second time in a year — a feat not achieved for more than 40 years.
Her record label, Sony, says she is the first woman to reach the milestone achieved previously by the Beatles in 1969 and The Monkees in 1967.
Boyle said she has “never felt happier” than seeing “The Gift,” match her first record’s successful debut. “The Gift” reached No. 1 in the U.K. on Sunday and topped the U.S. charts Wednesday.
The eccentric Scot shot to international fame after her audition for the TV show “Britain’s Got Talent” received more than 120 million views on YouTube. Boyle’s first album, “I Dreamed A Dream,” came out in 2009 and has sold more than 10 million copies.

Susan Boyle is back with her second album this year and it’s a Christmas album! The Gift will feature the following several holiday classics.

Simon Cowell said,
“Susan broke all the rules, became famous literally overnight and has become one of the world’s most popular singers. I’m incredibly proud and pleased for her. I think Susan has gone a step further with this new album. She is a very special lady.”

Susan Boyle to record a Christmas album!
Superstar Scottish singer Susan Boyle is set to record a Christmas album that would be released in October.
Her Debut album, I Dreamed A Dream has sold an outstanding 9 million copies and her Christmas album could be just as big of a hit.
Although Susan has not confirmed this news herself, Billboard are citing “retail sources” as confirming a Susie Christmas record due this October. Retail and industry sales executives are all predicting Taylor Swift’s third album Speak Now to be the years biggest seller, but they’re also expecting big numbers for Susie, while one merchant has gone as far as to bet that Susie’s Christmas album will be the “must have” album of the gift-giving season.
Diva Mariah Carey will probably be pissed at Susan Boyle because Mariah wanted to release another Christmas album this year and we all know it won’t be as big as Susan’s!

After she became a worldwide phenomenon, Susan Boyle is getting ready to do it again as she begins working on her highly anticipated sophomore album.
Don’t expect her second album to be filled with cover songs like her debut I Dreamed A Dream. Susan’s second album will include jazz influences as well as sounds from her favorite era, the sixties.
“My next album has to have an element of surprise in it again. I’m hoping to make it better and a bit extra special.”
“I love recording. The recording studio is your own space, it’s your bubble, it’s you and the music and the producer and engineer. That’s when the real craft comes in and that’s how people get to hear what you are really like. It is like my sanctuary.”
And don’t be surprised if theres a collaboration with Lady Gaga.
“I think Lady Gaga is a wonderful artist and completely original and I like her costumes. Love it! Yes, I’d love to do a duet with her, complete with a telephone hat too!”
Susan Boyle’s new album will be released November 19th and is already available for pre-orders on Amazon.com.

According to reports from the U.K., “Britain’s Got Talent” singing sensation Susan Boyle will be getting a $6 million dollar check for her 49th birthday next month.
Boyle’s debut album I Dreamed A Dream was the biggest selling CD of 2009 in the United Kingdom and has sold more than 8.5 million copies world wide.
Her birthday is April 1st, and after she receives her check she will no longer have to live off of her allowance she gets from Simon Cowell. A source tells Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, “People have thought of Susan as a millionaire for months already because her album was launched in November, but she hasn’t got it yet. Up until now, her management team have made sure she never wanted for anything, but this is her long-awaited payday.”
I bet she’s going to be a very happy girl on her birthday! You would hope!
