With the release of a new album approaching, Kanye West is making sure he’s up to date with the social networking sites.
He joined Twitter on Wednesday, one day after going to the offices of Facebook, in Palo Alto, Calif., to preview some of his new material. He already has over 220,000 followers but he himself is not following anyone.
Videos of him rapping a cappella while standing on a conference table have been posted on YouTube. On his website afterward, West posted a letter to Facebook, thanking the staff for their support: “Your energy was a gift so electric, so genuine, that it really helped me give my best.”
The “Love Lockdown” star has already disseminated new information on his upcoming projects via the service. West tweeted that his upcoming fifth studio album is no longer called “Good A–Job” and that he’s “bouncing a couple titles around now.” West’s new as-of-yet untitled album is expected to be released Sept. 14.

Linkin Park Singer Shows Skin For PETA Ad

Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington has shed his clothes in support of animal rights. The caring rocker has teamed up with Peta2, the young adult division of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), for its new “Ink, Not Mink” campaign, which urges fans to bear body art instead of fur.
He’s posed topless for print ads, showing off his collection of tattoos across his chest and arms under the tagline, “Be comfortable in your own skin, and let animals keep theirs.”
He says, “What’s really important for people to understand is the cruelty behind the fur industry. Electrocuting animals, skinning them while they’re alive – these are acts of inhumanity. Because it’s out of sight, it’s usually out of mind for most people, and we need to show our respect for all creatures of this world.”
Bennington is also speaking out about another animal rights cause close to his heart – dog and cat overpopulation – in a bid to encourage pet owners to have their fluffy friends neutered or spayed.

Happy Birthday Omarion, who turns 25 years old today.
Omarion was in the news the past couple of days because of his feeling’s about bisexual women.
The Ice Box hitmaker, 25, was rumored to have secretly married a bisexual stripper earlier this year but he has laughed off the reports and claims he is not even dating. The idea of romancing a woman like model Rose – who has openly admitted to kissing women – doesn’t appeal to the former B2K singer.
He tells Sister 2 Sister magazine, “No disrespect, but no Amber Rose for me. Everybody has their past – and don’t get me wrong, I’m not judgmental at all – but I do like a certain amount of class.” Omarion wants to set the record straight about his relationship status once and for all: “I’m not married. I’m chilling.
Chris Brown To Release New CD On Dec. 15

Chris Brown has announced the release of his first CD since his February altercation with then-girlfriend Rihanna.
“Graffiti,” the singer’s third album, will be released on Dec. 15, he said via Twitter.
The CD’s first single, “I Can Transform Ya,” features Lil Wayne and Swizz Beatz.
The 20-year-old will also kick off his “Fan Appreciation” tour in Houston on Nov. 14.
Brown was sentenced in August to five years’ probation, six months of community labor and a year of domestic violence counseling after he pleaded guilty to felony assault in the attack on Rihanna. He’s due to perform Tuesday in New Jersey at his first concert since the attack.

Cuban dissident punk rocker Gorki Aguila visits US

Cuban dissident punk rocker Gorki Aguila is in the U.S. for 15 days to promote his new CD, but he’s not sure if he’ll be able to return home because of his sharp criticism of the Cuban government.
“I’m scared,” said Aguila, who has repeatedly been arrested there.
“But I have to do this. This is the path I’ve chosen,” Aguila told reporters in Miami on Friday as he began a tour to promote “The Faded Red Album” — a dig at the Cuban government’s communist ideology.
The lead singer of Porno para Ricardo, or Porn for Ricardo, has a small but dedicated following on the island but is better known outside the country for his sexually explicit and irreverent criticism of Fidel Castro and his brother, Cuban President Raul Castro. One of the group’s albums features the traditional communist hammer and sickle symbol, with a phallus replacing the hammer.
On Friday, Aguila dressed in jeans and a self-designed red T-shirt emblazoned with the phrase: “59: The year of the Error,” a nod to the 1959 Cuban Revolution.
“I want to return,” he said. “I have my projects in Cuba, and more importantly, I have my daughter,” he said, adding that he would hold the Cuban government responsible if he is denied re-entry.
His U.S. visit is sponsored by the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit group Global Cuba Solidarity Movement, an umbrella group for roughly 20 organizations in the U.S. and Eastern Europe. Some of the U.S. groups receive federal funding but not all.
Aguila’s tour coincides with a massive international peace concert Colombian singer Juanes has organized in Cuba on Sunday. Juanes requested Aguila’s group to play, but the group has been banned from public performances and from Cuba’s airwaves.
“I do believe in Juanes’ good intentions. I just think his intentions are very naive,” Aguila said.
He said it was hard to believe the concert won’t be political when it will be held under a massive likeness of Cuban revolutionary icon Che Guevara.
“It’s time to call things by name. The bad in our country has a name: It’s called Fidel Castro. It’s called Raul Castro,” he said.
Aguila was first arrested in Cuba in 2003 on drug charges he says were politically motivated. On Friday, he recalled how two months before his arrest, a government official came to his house and demanded he sign a paper rejecting his previous anti-government statements, as well as change the name of the band.
Aguila declined and spent more than two years in prison. He said his band’s name is a counterpoint to the Cuban mantra of “Country or Death.” Aguila said porn is about pleasure and life, and Ricardo celebrates an individual, rather than the masses.
Aguila was arrested a second time in 2008 for “social dangerousness,” a vague charge often used against dissidents. He credits international solidarity groups such as Amnesty International for pressuring the government to release him within days.
