Mya Talks Upcoming Release of Album

Grammy-winning singer and dancer Mya will release the U.S./Canada deluxe version of her seventh studio album, “K.I.S.S. (“Keep It Sexy and Simple”), on Dec. 20.
“This is more a gift to the fans,” Mya said. “It’s about being cool and drama-free. And everything I do reflects that,” she says. “The people that I associate with, the circle that I keep is real simple and sometimes we think or we’re trained to believe that you always have to have more, more, more to make ourselves feel happy or beautiful, but it’s the other way around for me. Simplicity is sexy.”
Mya has been catering to the Japanese market since 2007, which is where her most recent album was first released. She had released the album “Liberation” in Japan, and received success, which stimulated her to continue releasing albums under her own independent label, Planet 9. “From there, Japan asked me to do more albums because they loved ‘Liberation,’” Mya said. She released “Sugar & Spice” (2008) and “K.I.S.S.” (last April), all solely in Japan.
While the original version of “K.I.S.S.” contains J-Pop songs, Mya says the deluxe edition is more of her traditional style. “It’s R&B, urban [and] also Pop. It’s fun, young with perspective and opinion.” She singles out “Evolve,” a “heartfelt, mid-tempo” song as one of her favorites. “[It's] about having determination and will power through it all… and not letting anything stop you,” Mya says. “It represents where I am in my life.”
Despite the interesting material, Mya doesn’t have any plans to shoot videos or do extensive promotion for the album. “K.I.S.S. is just a boutique album that I’m offering fans under the radar. If they want it, it’s accessible now,” she says. “This is just more of an appetizer. I’ve already started on what people will be looking forward to.”
Mya remains quiet on what the next album will sound like, but she will release it “when it’s ready and supported properly.” She is open to working with a major label again, “if a comfortable situation presents itself.” “My priority is serving my fans worldwide now, versus the one-off, independent situation that I’ve been doing,” Mya says. “I’m still going to put out my mixtapes. I still may do projects in Japan, but my focal point and priority is to bring it back home.”

For his upcoming albums, Justin Bieber has said he wants his career to move in the similar direction that Justin Timberlake took after he broke away from *N Sync. As did Timberlake, Bieber wants to take a more adult approach for his future projects.
Bieber’s longtime vocal producer, Kuk Harrell, says, “It’s really important that it’s the proper transition because (…) now we’re watching him grow up,” said Harrell, who also worked with Rihanna on her latest album. “We can’t just throw him into the adult game right away. It has to be the proper transition. There’s a record in between.” Harrell continues, “That’s why I think this Christmas album was really important, because it gave everybody the opportunity to hear him, see him and get used to his voice changing,” he said. “When his proper album comes out, everybody’s going to really be looking at [him vocally].”
With the fine details of his next album being kept quiet, Bieber will release his video for “All I Want for Christmas,” co-starring Mariah Carey, on Wednesday.
Producer Bangladesh Says Rihanna’s “Cockiness” is Perfect For Her

Pop superstar Rihanna’s latest album Talk That Talk is unquestionably packed with overtly sex-ridden tracks, but the super sexed-up “Cockiness (Love It)” takes the cake.
On “Cockiness,” Rihanna is unabashedly vocal about expressing enjoying the way in which her man loves her. The song’s producer, Bangladesh, claims that after the song developed the tomboy swagger and strong sexual innuendo, Rihanna was the obvious choice to record the track. Bangladesh says, “I was like, ‘That’s dope. That’s Rihanna all day.’ They sent the song back, and I finished producing it. … She loved it, and that’s what it was.”
Bangladesh joins a who’s who of A-list producers on the album, including vocal producer Kuk Harrell, The-Dream, StarGate, Calvin Harris and Dr. Luke, who produced the album’s second single, “You Da One.”
The song, “Cockiness” is one of many on Rihanna’s newest album that carries a strong sexual subject. The singer revealed on Twitter that she’s already hard at work on the video for “You Da One.”

Pussycat Dolls member Kimberly Wyatt recently opened up about her true feelings for Nicole Scherzinger.
“I get on with most of the band but not everyone. Look, at the end of the day it’s a job – we all have our own lives to lead and our own projects going on…I think of Nicole as just a business associate not as a friend. You cannot simply group girls together and just expect them to get on, can you? Life doesn’t work like that.”
The Pussycat Dolls are currently on a break.
Kimberly insists, “If Nicole left tomorrow, we could still carry on. I can see this band going on forever.”
