British Band The Kooks Try to Find American Success

The British band The Kooks are finishing up their U.S. tour this week, hoping to score a major hit in America with new music soon to come.
The indie rock band will play the historic Fillmore in San Francisco on Tuesday in support of their third album “Junk of the Heart,” then head back to Great Britain.
Their latest single, “How’d You Like That,” hit U.S. airwaves last week, and the band has made the rounds of clubs and other venues and last month appeared on popular late-night talk program, “The Late Show with David Letterman.”
Yet, even as they depart from this round of touring, the Kooks want more from the United States.
“I have a fire in my belly to write the best songs, and I still love doing it,” lead singer Luke Pritchard said. “I hope we have a tune that connects really big here in the U.S., and I want to work with some American musicians and have collaborations happening,” he said.

The Rock Hall of Fame has now accepted the Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns ‘N Roses to be inducted on the ceremony, which will take place on April 14 in Cleveland and air on HBO in early May.
Bands that were pass over this year were the Cure, Joan Jett, and Heart. Acts become eligible for the Hall 25 years after the release of their first single or album, so this year’s crop all started releasing music in or before the year 1986.
Before their induction of Guns ‘N Roses was announced, buzz had already begun to build around a potential reunion of the band.
[audio] BC Jean Releases Powerful New Single – I’ll Survive You

BC Jean earned an incredible amount of recognition as both a songwriter and artist when it was revealed that she was the force behind Beyoncé’s insanely successful hit ‘If I Were A Boy’. Last year, BC Jean released her a promo single ‘Just A Guy’ and began working on her debut album with J Records. I was disappointed with ‘Just A Guy’. Knowing that she had the talent to produce something as an incredible as ‘If I Were A Boy’, and after hearing her recording version of the song with her crazy emotionally raw vocals, ‘Just A Guy’ just didn’t do it for me.
But now, BC Jean’s new single ‘I’ll Survive You’ has me falling in love all over again with her amazing voice. This song has power. This is the avenue that BC Jean needs to continue on. Take a listen for yourself –

Exclusive Interview with The Morning Of

These days, it’s rare when a band comes along and gets us so excited that we can’t be tamed like Miley Cyrus on a stripper pole. We recently got a chance to check out indie pop/rock band The Morning Of while we were down in San Diego. The band was on tour in support of The Dangerous Summer, but they were also promoting their own album The Way I Fell In.
It didn’t take long for us fall in love with their sound on the new album. Upbeat, energetic, and musical are the first words that come to mind when describing The Morning Of. The first comparison that came to mind was The Rocket Summer. One unique aspect of the band are the two lead singers, Justin and Jessica. Not only do that have strong voices, but they’ve got great chemistry as well.

Platinum-selling hit-makers the Gin Blossoms have signed with 429 Records and are preparing for both the release of their highly anticipated new album, “NO CHOCOLATE CAKE” and an extensive U.S. tour. With total worldwide album sales topping 30 million units powered by their indelibly melodic, Grammy-nominated Top Ten singles, Gin Blossoms–Robin Wilson, Jesse Valenzuela, Scott Johnson and Bill Leen, are back and in peak form! The eleven new tracks were written, produced and performed by the band with the help of John Richardson (drums) and Danny Wilde on keyboards and additional production (of The Rembrandts). The first single, “Miss Disarray,” will be promoted at Hot Adult Contemporary radio outlets (add date 8/2). “NO CHOCOLATE CAKE” is set for release in North America on September 28th on 429 Records.
Four years after the critically acclaimed “Major Lodge Victory,” Gin Blossoms have put together a seamless musical confection. The band continues to benefit from an innate chemistry and inspiration–a dynamic that helped catapult songs such as “Hey Jealousy,” “Found Out About You,” “Till I Hear From You” and “Follow You Down” into the collective musical consciousness and helped define an era as well as selling 30 million records worldwide.
Says Wilson, “There’s just something about the way we play and sound together. It’s those songs and the sound we make that add up to something indefinable.”
