MTVu’s Woodie Awards Round-Up

Kings of Leon won Woodie of the Year and Green Day took home the Best Performing Woodie at the 2009 MTVu Woodie Awards, which brought together a cross-section of established and breaking artists Wednesday night (Nov. 19) at New York’s Roseland Ballroom.
Although neither band was in attendance, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool accepted their award by video.
Indie darlings Matt & Kim kicked off the show — which celebrates the year’s best music as determined by MTVu’s college-centric audience — with an energetic performance of their breakout single “Lessons Learned.” Later, the duo returned to accept their Best Video Woodie award.
“We’ve had one heck of a year,” said Matt Johnson, before counterpart Kim Schifino leapt into the crowd.
Additional performers included veteran alt-rockers Death Cab for Cutie, who rocked the audience with its “New Moon” soundtrack single “Meet Me on the Equinox,” as well as Passion Pit, the Dead Weather and Clipse, who were joined onstage by fellow rappers Cam’ron and Rick Ross.
Presenter highlights came from Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz and pop prankserts 3OH!3. Wentz rolled onto the stage holding a red Solo cup, while 3OH!3 gave a nod to Lady Gaga by dressing in her various VMA outfits. Asher Roth, will.i.am, and surprise guest Cyndi Lauper also presented awards.
While Kings of Leon and Green Day won the top prizes, smaller acts took home statues as well. Never Shout Never’s Christofer Drew Ingle and Missouri rapper Tech N9ne earned the Breaking Woodie and the Left Field Woodie, respectively.
The Woodie Awards air Dec. 4 on MTV Networks.
Pete Wentz Says He Ruined Fall Out Boy

Pete Wentz blames himself for the demise of Fall Out Boy – because his personal life became a “hindrance” for the band.
The rockers have decided to shelve the group indefinitely to allow them all more time to concentrate on their own projects.
Wentz is convinced his high profile relationship with wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, which propelled the rocker into the gossip columns, had a negative impact on their music and he wanted to take a step back to stop his celebrity persona from overshadowing the band.
He tells British magazine Kerrang!, “My biggest personal reason for taking a break is that I feel my name has become a hindrance for the band. (Frontman Patrick Stump) is a musical genius and it’s unfortunate that he gets reviewed based on whatever’s going on in my personal life or how my hair looks. I think the world needs a little less Pete Wentz. A lot of people think Fall Out Boy is me. But it’s the four of us. I want to f**king vomit when I read intros that say, ‘Pete Wentz: accidental internet poster boy.’ It makes me feel ugly.”
And the bassist is sick of seeing his face on the cover of magazines, because he is now better known as a tabloid celebrity than as a musician.
He adds, “People who read the tabloids probably think all I do is visit Starbucks and hang out in nightclubs.”

Pete Wentz and his recently unemployed wife Ashlee are selling their home because it isn’t kid-friendly.
The couple has put their sprawling hillside Beverly Hills estate on the market as they hunt for a home with a yard for baby son Bronx, a source tells Life & Style Magazine. “The house is built into the side of a giant hill and it doesn’t really have any yard. Now that Bronx is getting older they realised that really isn’t a child-friendly house,” a tipser divulged.
“They are going to sell this house and look for something that will be better suited to young children.”
Ashlee bought the home in January 2007. It features four bedrooms, a gym, a gourmet kitchen, swimming pool, and two-store guesthouse.
I hope they don’t plan on having any more kids..I think it’s just better for the children.

DJ AM, who knew addiction all to well as a recovering addict, had been tapped to host Gone Too Far, a raw MTV reality series set to premiere Monday, October 5. Theshow will offer tough-love interventions to young people battling chemical addiction. With the help of experts, DJ AM accompanies addicts on the path to recovery.
On Tuesday, DJ AM posted a message on his Twitter page, announcing that the series had just completed shooting.
“Just wrapped filming GTF in CT. Back to Dusk in AC to DJ tonight,” he wrote on August 25.
There’s been no word on what will happen to the series following news of Adam’s death.
In a candid interview with Glamour Magazine in January 2008, DJ AM opened up about his own dependency on drugs, blaming his years of addiction on an alleged abusive past at the hands of his father.
“I was probably destined to be a drug addict. I grew up in Philadelphia with a father who seemed to hate me: The verbal abuse he subjected me to was unbelievably cruel,” he told the magazine.
