Britney and Rihanna Team Up for ‘S&M’ Remix!

Did anyone see this one coming?!

Rihanna has teamed up with Britney Spears to release a remix of ‘S&M.’ Rihanna’s asked her fans who they wanted to see her collaborate with and they said they wanted Brit Brit. And that’s exactly what they got. The remix was released today with Spears unmistakable voice.

The song sounds exactly the same. The only difference is Spear’s voice. Is anyone else confused by the timing of this release? Hasn’t Rihanna moved on to promoting her new single ‘California King Bed?’ Is this just an effort to make Spears more of a femme fatale?

New Artist Spotlight: Elina

Though Elina Wells established herself in the Los Angeles singer-songwriter scene, it is her Hawaiian heritage that influenced her upcoming sophomore solo release, Mesmerized. Elina learned to play the ukulele in middle school, and picked it back up in recent years, giving several songs on Mesmerized an island sound. It fits the album’s overall feel-good, energetic vibe.

Her career kicked off in 2006 with solo album Elina, which included Dream Like New York (co-written with husband Tyrone Wells). The song was featured in the animated film Everyone’s Hero, as well as the Mets promo for their World Series run and at the home games for the New York Knicks.

In 2009 Elina collaborated on an album with fellow singer-songwriter, Tamila Zahrndt, entitled Tamila and Elina. In 2010 Elina and Tyrone released a duet album entitled Different As Can Be, which went to #2 on the iTunes Singer-Songwriter Chart. Tyrone and Elina performed their duets live in front of large audiences across the country on Tyrone Wells’ Songs and Stories fall tour 2010 and on the Rock Boat and Cayamo cruises.

Elina’s CD Release show is this Friday at Room 5 Lounge. Here are the details:

Not sure how her image and song will translate to the country market, but it’s something new and fresh from Gaga…she always keeps us entertained, that’s for sure.

My life has been a little empty lately without Michelle Branch. I was mildly obsessed with her back in the day. I lost touch with her during the Pretty Wreckless era, but I’m so glad she’s back in the studio writing and recording material for her new album. BC Jean earned an incredible amount of recognition as both a songwriter and artist when it was revealed that she was the force behind Beyoncé’s insanely successful hit ‘If I Were A Boy’. Last year, BC Jean released her a promo single ‘Just A Guy’ and began working on her debut album with J Records. I was disappointed with ‘Just A Guy’. Knowing that she had the talent to produce something as an incredible as ‘If I Were A Boy’, and after hearing her recording version of the song with her crazy emotionally raw vocals, ‘Just A Guy’ just didn’t do it for me.

But now, BC Jean’s new single ‘I’ll Survive You’ has me falling in love all over again with her amazing voice. This song has power. This is the avenue that BC Jean needs to continue on. Take a listen for yourself –

The Queen B, miss Britney Spears….although she’s not looking much like a queen above…tweeted a pic from the set of her new music video for ‘Till The World Ends.’ The video is being directed by Ray Kay who has also worked on Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair”, Cheryl Cole’s “Fight for this Love”, Amerie’s “Why R U”, and Lady GaGa’s “Poker Face”.

New Artist Spotlight: Bobble Head

Who is Bobble Head you ask? This 20yr old rising star, whose real name is Hunter Brown, is quickly making a name for himself in the pop world. Originally from Denver, Colorado, Bobble Head produces and writes all of his own material, a skill that is all but required of artists in today’s music industry.

“When I’m making music in the studio, when I’m on stage, or whenever I’m doing something related to my music I become this character. I’m not Hunter Brown at that point. I’m Bobble Head”, he explains. “It’s kind of like Batman. He’s Bruce Wayne when he’s going about every day life, but when its time to fight crime he turns into Batman.”

Joe Jonas On The Cover Of Details, Talks New Music

Joe Jonas is looking…um…hot on the cover of the new issue of Details Magazine. In the magazine, Joe talks about is upcoming solo music career. Joe has been working closely with Rob Knox who is part of The Y’s production team with Justin Timberlake.

“I look at Joe’s scenario as kind of like when Justin Timberlake broke out of ‘N Sync,” says Rob Knox, a producer working on Joe’s solo project who previously teamed up with Rihanna and Jamie Foxx. “Justin was 21 when he came out as a solo artist. Joe is coming to producers who know how to create that edgier pop feeling. We’re not doing any boy-band songs.”

“I wanted to do something you could hear in a club or something you could dance to,” says Joe. “Something that’s fun—something that’s me. I think it was definitely because I was getting older…”
