Susan Boyle shoots to top of UK album chart
Scottish singer Susan Boyle, a worldwide sensation since appearing on a TV talent show in 2009, shot straight to the top of the British chart on Sunday with her new album, “Someone to Watch Over Me,” the Officials Charts Company said.
Boyle, notching up her third No. 1 album in a row, has sold some 14 million albums worldwide and has been No. 1in 30 countries.
Cher Lloyd, 18, an “X Factor” finalist last year, saw her debut album, “Sticks and Stones,” enter the chart at No. 4, while The Wanted took the No. 5 slot with their second album, “Battleground.”
Barbados-born R&B singer Rihanna topped the singles chart with “We Found Love,” featuring Scottish DJ and producer Calvin Harris. The single bounced back to the top from last week’s No. 2 and has now spent four weeks at No. 1.
Boy band JLS was the highest new entry in the singles chart, at No. 2 with “Take a Chance on Me,” the second single from the forthcoming album “Jukebox.”
Talented Jordan Baird’s Career Finds Success After Jive Closing

Multi-talented musician Jordan Baird has been quickly climbing the latter to stardom ever since he was signed with Jive Records. With the recent closure of Jive, some aspiring artists would lose hope, but Baird’s ambition and passion is unwavering as his career continues to be on the rise.
As an artist, Baird writes and plays guitar in addition to singing with obvious talent. When performing, his passion is clear, as, according to his manager Eric West, “he does everything from the heart.” Baird recently had an iTunes hit with his successful and heartfelt song, “Grateful,” the debut single for Jive. While some musicians would feel at the end of their journey with the closing of a big support such as Jive, Baird feels optimistic about where his career is heading, saying, “it’s going to take a lot more than one label closing to stop me.”
Having recently signed an exclusive management deal with hit actor Eric West, Baird’s career continues to pick up speed, hardly feeling the effects of Jive closing. As his new direction with West is already seeing success, it is clear that Jordan Baird is a true artist with the qualities that one needs to become a lasting musician.

Superstar Adele, logged a sixth nonconsecutive week at No. 1 on the U.S. pop album chart on Wednesday following a sleepy post-Easter sales week that saw no new releases enter the top 10.
The English pop singer sold 124,000 copies of her second album, “21,” during the week ended May 1, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Total sales rose to 1.4 million after 10 weeks.
The Billboard 200′s highest new entry was from instrumental rock band Explosions in the Sky’s sixth album, “Take Care, Take Care, Take Care,” which started at No. 16 with 19,000. Things should brighten up next week, once a bevy of new sets from the likes of Beastie Boys and Jennifer Lopez reach the tally.
Back in the top 10, the Foo Fighters’ former chart-topper “Wasting Light” rose one to No. 2 with just 34,000 copies, while Mumford & Sons’ “Sigh No More” jumped four to No. 3 with 32,000. Britney Spears’ “Femme Fatale” rose one to No. 4 (30,000), swapping places with the Disney Channel’s “Lemonade Mouth” soundtrack (29,600).
Chris Brown’s “F.A.M.E.” rose three to No. 6 (28,000) and “Glee, the Music Presents: The Warblers” slid five to No. 7 (27,600).
The next three albums were separated by fewer than 300 units. Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” jumped three to No. 8 (23,800), Wiz Khalifa’s “Rolling Papers” rebounded three to No. 9 (23,600), and Paul Simon’s “So Beautiful or So What” dropped two to No. 10 (23,500).

Discover new music in a social way with 8Tracks Radio iPhone app

8Tracks Radio is one of the best music-discovery apps I’ve seen on the iPhone. While I absolutely support the numerous radio station apps available to download, there’s still something just a bit more interesting and personal to a mixtape, and 8Tracks Radio combines the joy of great music discovery with the personalization of the mixtape.
What’s immediately enjoyable about 8Tracks Radio is that you don’t need to log on or register to enjoy the music. You can jump right in as an anonymous user and listen to everyone’s mixtapes via the numerous ways they’re sorted.
And you’ll have quite a few options for listening, from the featured mixtapes to hot mixtapes and the newly posted mixes, there is plenty of music to keep you busy. If that’s not enough, you can search by music genre, artist or mix title. In short, there’s basically no way you’ll be lacking for good music.
While you can do all that without registering, signing up for a free account does offer a few benefits. Namely, you’ll be able to “like” a mixtape so you can listen to it whenever you want. You’ll also be able to create a “mixfeed,” which lets you monitor users so you’ll know if they put out a new mix to listen to.
About the only thing you can’t do on 8Tracks Radio is make your own mix. For that, you’ll have to go to the 8Tracks website and work your magic from there.
Aside from that omission, the 8Tracks Radio app has almost everything you could want from a music discovery app.
