Britney Spears was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart…..for a week. Bruno Mars bumped her out of the top spot.
Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” logged a third nonconsecutive week at the top, having alternated between Nos. 1 and 2 over the past six weeks. Spears’ “Hold It Against Me” tumbled to No. 6, as a hefty 55% slide in download sales more than offset a gain in radio airplay.
Katy Perry’s former No. 1 “Firework” rose one to No. 2, rapper Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” jumped two to No. 3, Enrique Iglesias’ “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You)” rose two to No. 4, and Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?” slipped one to No. 5.
Kesha’s “We R Who We R” held at No. 7, Pink’s “Raise Your Glass” at No. 8, and the Black Eyed Peas’ “The Time (Dirty Bit)” at No. 9. Singer/rapper Pitbull’s “Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor)” jumped 10 places to No. 10.
At No. 79, Zac Brown Band’s “Colder Weather” led a list of three songs new to the Hot 100. James Blunt entered at No. 94 with “Stay the Night,” and alternative/punk band Yellowcard took the last slot with “For You, and Your Denial.”
Justin Bieber’s “Never Say Never,” featuring Jaden Smith, re-entered at No. 85 after peaking at No. 33 during the summer. The song is being reworked to radio as an accompanying single to Bieber’s 3D documentary concert film of the same name opening in theaters February 11.
Billboard Launches New Uncharted Music Chart

Launched today on Billboard.com, Uncharted gives a vast market of emerging talent the opportunity to be ranked and discovered. Billboard’s Uncharted is part of its new Dreamseekers initiative that will include not only the Uncharted ranking but also Billboard Pro, a comprehensive tool to help artists manage and grow their online fan base.
Occupying the No. 1 slot on the inaugural Uncharted ranking is hip-hop solo artist Traphik, a Long Beach, California-based Thai-American rapper known for his comedic YouTube videos and rhymes. Other artists in the top five include DJ BL3ND, Colette Carr, Javier Jofre and the Deadlies.
With a universe of millions of artists creating and sharing their music on digital platforms to amass an audience, many are serious about a career but have not arrived on the mainstream music scene. They may not have a retail story or a radio story, but they have leveraged the Internet’s powerful role in music consumption and have a noteworthy following. Uncharted is an artist discovery tool for the music industry’s ecosystem of recording labels, talent management, concert promoters, music publishers, radio, film, television and advertising executives as well as passionate music fans.
“Uncharted is about launching careers. We want to serve as a conduit for artists to step onto a broader stage, ultimately topping one of the major Billboard charts,” said Billboard Editorial Director Bill Werde. “Record labels, publishers and other music companies are always looking for ways to make smarter bets on emerging talent, and we think the Uncharted ranking will be a significant tool for those who would invest in music.” Read more

We’ve been following KE$HA for the past year, before her collaboration with Flo-Rida on ‘Right Round’ and we’re proud to announce that she’s hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
KE$HA is the first female to have a No. 1 debut single since Lady Gaga did it with ‘Just Dance’ in January 2009. KE$HA has the first No. 1 single of the new decade. Quite an accomplishment for the singer who claims she was broke when Flo-Rida released ‘Right Round’.
Congratulations!

Susan Boyle makes history ont the British charts! The debut album of Scottish singer Susan Boyle — who shot to fame after her audition for TV show Britain’s Got Talent — has become the fastest selling album in Britain this year and the best-selling debut album in the UK ever.
The talent star moved 410,000 copies of I Dreamed A Dream — featuring covers of “Wild Horses” and “I Dreamed A Dream” from the musical Les Miserables – according to the Official Charts Company.
“She did it her way and made a dream come true,” Susan’s mentor Simon Cowell told BBC News Monday. “In Britain’s Got Talent she opened her mouth and the world fell in love with her, which is why her album has been the fastest selling of any woman making her debut.”
Songbird Leona Lewis previously held the record for Britain’s best-selling debut album; her first effort Spirit earned over 375,000 sales in 2007.
