Well, there’s finally some good news in the world of Christina Aguilera. Aguilera has just signed on to judge NBC’s new reality singing competition called ‘The Voice.’ She will be joined by fellow judges Cee-Lo Green and Maroon 5′s Adam Levine. Carson Daly will host the new series that was created be reality TV mogul Mark Burnett.

“I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it,” Aguilera said in a statement. “To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists’ careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms.mI am so happy to be working with fellow Grammy Award winners Adam and Cee Lo as I feel there is so much we can all bring to The Voice.”

“When I decided to produce The Voice, I immediately knew that my first choice for a female coach had to be Christina Aguilera,” Burnett said. “Christina has a perfect voice and is an undeniable force in the music business. She is the epitome of The Voice.” [Via Entertainment Weekly]

And don’t think ‘The Voice’ is just like any other reality singing competition. The judges are not allowed to see the contestants when they audition, but rather judge them based on their voices alone. When they hear something they like, the will push a button to accept the singer and their chair will turn around to reveal who they really are. The winner will win $100,000 and a recording contract.

Will you be tuning in for ‘The Voice’?

Zac Brown Band 1

Zac Brown Band scored its first No. 1 album on the U.S. pop chart Wednesday, preventing Maroon 5 from achieving its second chart-topper, although sales for both acts fell short of expectations.

“You Get What You Give,” the second major-label release from Zac Brown, sold 153,000 copies during the week ended September 26, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Its previous release, “The Foundation,” peaked at No. 9 in May, and logged its best sales week of 62,000 copies last Christmas.

A month ago, the album was seen as having a shot at selling 250,000 copies, but the disappointing 192,000-unit start for Katy Perry’s much-anticipated “Teenage Dream” has forced the industry to scale back expectations across the board.

Maroon 5′s “Hands All Over” opened at No. 2 with 142,000. The band’s last effort, 2007′s “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long,” debuted at No. 1 with 429,000 in its first week. Pre-Perry, prognosticators had forecast a start in the 210,000 range for the new set.

A pair of albums tumbled in their second round. Last week’s No. 1, Linkin Park’s “A Thousand Suns,” fell to No. 3 after suffering a hefty 71 percent sales drop to 70,000. Last week’s runner-up, Trey Songz’s “Passion, Pain & Pleasure,” dropped to No. 7 with 66,000 (down 73 percent).

Disney starlet Selena Gomez & the Scene’s “A Year Without Rain” opened at No. 4 with 66,200. Her debut set “Kiss and Tell” opened at No. 9 last year with just under 66,000.

Santana’s all-star rock collaborations album, “Guitar Heaven,” flew in at No. 5 with 65,900. The tribute to classic rock anthems boasts turns from a number of guest stars, including Chris Daughtry and Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington.

Eminem’s “Recovery” fell three places to No. 6 with 65,800. After 14 weeks, it has sold 2.65 million copies — the biggest seller of the year ahead of Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” (2.64 million).

Overall album sales totaled 5.0 million units, down 6 percent compared to the sum last week and down 15 percent compared to the comparable sales week of 2009. Year to date album sales stand at 215.8 million, down 13% compared to the same total at this point last year.
