Madonna Unhappy About M.I.A’s Super Bowl Middle Finger

After M.I.A.’s Super Bowl halftime flip-off, Madonna has spoken out about the incident, and has said that she “wasn’t happy” about it.
“To tell you the truth, I didn’t even know about it. I actually didn’t know about it until I left,” says Madonna. “I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t happy about it. I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity, it seemed negative… It’s such a teenager…irrelevant thing to do. There was such a feeling of love and unity there. What was the point? It was just out of place.”
While M.I.A. has not spoken out about the middle finger flip incident, NBC quickly issued an apology following the incident, which was witnessed by millions on the network. “Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers,” NBC said in a statement.
Fortunately, the M.I.A. incident didn’t ruin Madonna’s halftime experience — although she does have a pulled hamstring. “I ran off the stage really fast in my high heels, and I had to immediately put ice on my leg,” she said. “It was one of those things, like getting through a war and surviving and actually doing really well — winning the war!”

The 12 minute set included guest appearances by Nicki Minaj, M.I.A., LMFAO and Cee Lo Green. The impressive performance covered some of her biggest hits, including Vogue, Music and Like a Prayer, and also featured Madge’s latest single, “Give Me All Your Luvin.’”

Will.i.am has revealed one of the performers expected to spice up Madonna’s upcoming halftime extravaganza: LMFAO.
Will.i.am says, “I’m going to the Super Bowl this year to see my group LMFAO perform with Madonna.” LMFAO, who scored a pair of Hot 100 chart-toppers last year with “Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy and I Know It,” are signed to Will.i.am Music Group through Cherrytree/Interscope.
The Peas star continued, “Check that out, Will.i.am Music Group is pretty freaking two for two…. One year the Super Bowl, the next year another group part of the Super Bowl in collaboration with Madonna. That’s still happening.”
Madonna was announced as the Super Bowl halftime show performer in December after months of speculation. Nicki Minaj is also rumored to show up at the Super Bowl performance, after the hip-hop star and pop legend collaborated on Madonna’s forthcoming single, “Give Me All Your Love.”
Madonna Wins Golden Globe, Elton John’s Husband Reacts

At the Golden Globe Awards, Madonna and Elton John were both up for best original song, and traded insults on the red carpet, but after Madonna won, John’s husband David Furnish lashed back on his Facebook page.
“Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!” Furnish said on Facebook, according to TMZ. “Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism.”
He also called Madonna’s recent criticism of Lady Gaga “desperate.”
Furnish may have been referring to several aspects of Madonna’s speech, which came after her song “Masterpiece,” from her film “W.E.,” beat out John’s “Hello Hello from “Gnomeo and Juliet.”
Before the night’s festivities, Elton told NBC’s Carson Daly that Madonna “doesn’t have a f***ing chance of winning tonight.” After laughing, Daly asked if those were “fighting words” but Elton called them “accurate words.”
When Daly told Madonna about Elton’s jab, she asked, “Was he wearing a dress?’ … adding, “may the best man win.”
According to Us Weekly, Madonna voiced her hopes backstage that she and Elton could patch things up. “I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years,” she quipped. “He’s been known to get mad at me so I don’t know. He’s brilliant and I adore him so he’ll win another award. I don’t feel bad!”
Madonna Makes Rather Cold Comments on Gaga’s Career

Madonna made some rather lukewarm comments in U.S. interviews released on Friday, calling her influence on Gaga’s music “interesting” and “amusing.” Sometimes.
“I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it’s amusing and flattering and well done,” Madonna, 53, told ABC News in a television interview.
“There’s a lot of ways to look at it. I can’t really be annoyed by it…because obviously, I’ve influenced her,” the pop star told ABC.
The comparisons between the two divas, both known for combining provocative stunts with catchy dance-pop hits, came to a head when Gaga released her “Born This Way” single last February.
The song was instantly likened to Madonna’s 1989 hit “Express Yourself”.
“When I heard it on the radio .I said that sounds very familiar,” Madonna said. Asked if that felt annoying, Madonna responded, “It felt reductive.”
Pressed by ABC interviewer Cynthia McFadden whether that was a good or bad thing, Madonna replied “look it up”.
In a separate interview in the upcoming issue of Newsweek, Madonna described “Born This Way” as “a wonderful way to redo my song.”
“I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was… interesting,” she added.
The Grammy-winning singer told U.S. talk show host Jay Leno in February that she was Madonna’s “hugest fan personally and professionally.”
