Luxury department store Barneys is teaming up with flamboyant pop singer Lady Gaga for a Christmas holiday campaign and window display called “Gaga’s Workshop.”
Barneys said on Monday it would turn over an entire floor of its flagship Madison Ave, New York, store to the pop singer’s interpretation of Santa’s Workshop, as well as dedicating its 2011 holiday window display to the Gaga theme.
Small limited edition gift items created by the “Born This Way” singer and Nicola Formichetti will also be available for sale, while signature artwork will be featured on Barneys holiday shopping bags and packaging.
Barneys New York chief executive Mark Lee said it would be the largest and most encompassing holiday theme ever mounted by the upscale fashion retailer.
“As a New York city landmark, we wanted to celebrate Lady Gaga as a fellow New Yorker and amazing talent,” Lee said in a statement.
Known as much for her bizarre outfits as her string of hit records and music awards, Lady Gaga, 25, was born Stefani Germanotta and raised in New York City.
Barneys said it would donate 25 percent of all the items featured in Gaga’s Workshop to a charity of the singer’s choice.
Grammys change rules for best new artist category

Lady Gaga’s exclusion from the best new artist category at this year’s Grammys has caused the Recording Academy to change eligibilty requirements for the next ceremony.
The change was announced Wednesday.
Although Lady Gaga was the most popular new artist of 2009, she was ineligible for a best new artist nomination. Her hit “Just Dance” had been nominated in 2008, before she was a platinum-selling act, and previous Grammy nominees can’t be nominated for best new artist.
The rule change allows previous Grammy nominees to be eligible, as long as the artist hasn’t released an entire album and doesn’t win.

Overall the 2010 Grammy’s red carpet fashion was a success.
I mean in a nutshell, Taylor Swift looks like a mermaid. Britney Spears forgot her pants. Katy Perry has the same bangs as my five-year-old sister. Lady Gaga obviously hired a stylist from MARS and Fergie was looking hot!

Lady Gaga Gets “Wiggy” With It

Speaking of Lady Gaga, the pop phenemenon never leaves home without a wig for every ocassion .
“I have more than 20 wigs. So I can have a new hairstyle without having to keep running to the hairdresser every day. That’s great, right? And depending on my mood I opt for this at one time and for that at others. How I present myself to the outside world always depends on how I feel inside,” she said.
The odd crooner believes each of her wigs has its own individual personality and when she dons the locks she takes on its characteristics. “My red curly wig is wild and a little confused. I think I’m also just a bit confused and messy,” she added.
Teen Group Says Lady Gaga Songs Are Unhealthy

An initiative to encourage healthy teen relationships says songs by Jamie Foxx and Lady Gaga are the musical equivalent of junk food.
A teen panel working with the Boston Public Health Commission has determined that their songs are among the top 10 with “unhealthy relationship ingredients.”
The commission on Tuesday released its list based on a “nutrition label” rating popular songs on healthy relationship themes.
The “Sound Relationships Nutrition Label” was developed by 14 teens after they attended a seven-week commission-sponsored institute on healthy relationship promotion and teen dating violence prevention. During the seven-week program, teens were also taught to evaluate music based on themes of power, control, equality and gender roles.
The teens then developed their list after analyzing songs from Billboard’s “Hot 100″ chart.
Mario’s “Break Up” featuring Gucci Man and Sean Garrett and Jamie Foxx’s “Blame It” featuring T-Pain topped the list for the most unhealthy relationship songs of 2009. Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” and Pitbull’s “Hotel Room Service” were also listed.
Among the teen panel’s top 10 songs with healthy themes: “Miss Independent” by Ne-Yo and “Meet Me Halfway” by the Black Eyed Peas.
Shaquilla Terry, 15, of Boston, a teen panel member, said it was important for listeners to go beyond the songs’ beats and listen to the lyrics.
The commission says its program aims to teach teens how to evaluate popular media, and help parents talk to teens about healthy relationships. Commission officials also said the label invites consumers to become song lyric nutritionists by helping them identify positive and negative messages about relationships in songs.
“We aren’t telling people what they should or should not be listening to,” Barbara Ferrer, the commission’s executive director, said in a statement. “We are giving them a tool that will help them make an informed choice about what they put in their bodies.”
In addition to the label, the commission also plans to released a lesson plan for teachers.
Jack Perricone, chair of the songwriting department at the Berklee College of Music, said pop songs generally allow listeners to get away from the bad news of the day. But he said pop music, by its very nature, is very repetitive, and sometimes if songs have negative messages, those repetitive messages can get inside teens’ heads.
“Some (artists) play up the bad boy image and put out negative images as a way to be commercially successful,” said Perricone, who was not affiliated with the commission. “But then they have to deal with the moral implications.”

“Is Lady Gaga A Man?” and “Is Michael Jackson dead?” were among the “Most Asked Questions Of 2009,” according to Internet search engine Ask.com. Ask has released a list of the most commonly asked questions it received in 2009 and the fan obsession with the pop sensation’s gender was the third most asked this year.
“Last year we looked at our top questions and found that the identity of tame racing driver The Stig from Top Gear was on everyone’s minds,” Nadia Kelly of Ask revealed Tuesday. “This year we have had a wide variety of unusual searches. It proves that more people than ever are turning to Internet search engines for answers to not only everyday things but weird and wacky subjects too,” Kelly added.
“The internet has become the virtual textbook of choice for millions, with its ability to give quick and accurate answers to even the most bizarre questions.”
The site has also been flooded with questions about the swine flu virus and popular social networking site Twitter.com.

Lady Gaga Ineligible For Best New Artist Grammy

Controversy’s a’comin’: Due to a loophole in the Grammy eligibility guidelines, quirky pop star Lady Gaga — the unspoken leading contender for a Best New Artist statue at the 2010 Grammys next February — has been deemed ineligible for nomination in that category.
The singer’s debut album, The Fame, spawned a handful of Number One hits, earning the New York-born Gaga comparisions to Pop Queen Madonna. The Fame has sold more than 1 million copies to date.
So what gives?
According to Variety, the charttopper with questionable fashion sense earned her first Grammy nod when her hit single “Just Dance” was honored in the Best Dance Recording category at the 2009 ceremony in Los Angeles — therefore rendering Gaga unable to be nominated for Best New Artist this year by Grammy regulations.
