Country singing sensation Keith Urban had a successful throat surgery this past week to remove a polyp from his vocal cord and is reportedly doing fine, according to the singer’s spokesman.
Urban’s spokesman Paul Freundlich said that the singer had the procedure last Tuesday, and he will not be able to speak or sing for about three weeks, and is now recovering at an undisclosed location.
The day before the procedure, Urban posted a video on his website thanking his fans for their support.
He expressed, “I want to thank you for sending such good wishes for my upcoming surgery. I can’t express enough my gratitude to you guys; it feels like family.”
The polyp developed during his recent “Get Closer World Tour 2011,” and in last Monday’s video Urban took note of the fans who had turned out to see him perform during what he called his “crazy great phenomenal year.”
Urban is not the only singer to encounter problems with his vocal cords. In the past month, British pop singer Adele had similar surgery as did Kiss frontman Paul Stanley.

Rockers Kiss paid a visit to a medical center in Augusta, Georgia on Wednesday to spend time with troops who have been wounded in action.
The I Love It Loud hit-makers played a gig in nearby Atlanta, Georgia on Monday night and invited the Augusta-based Wounded Warriors organization to attend the concert. And the band members decided to follow up the treat with a visit to the program’s Augusta V.A. Medical Center, to meet all the soldiers who were too ill to see them perform.
Frontman Paul Stanley, Eric Singer, and Tommy Thayer all spent time at the center, signing autographs and having their photos taken. Bass player Gene Simmons was unable to attend.
Stanley took the opportunity to thank the men and women of the U.S. military and called for wounded soldiers to receive better treatment back home.
He says, “We’re honored to be here with you people. We’re here for you. God bless you all. People talk about the ultimate sacrifice, but isn’t it a sacrifice to come back home and discover you no longer have your life? We want everyone home safely and to urge everyone to give these people the respect they deserve.”

After only three days of sales, Michael Buble’s new album topped the Billboard 200 chart, while rock legends KISS finished in second place, the highest album-chart position of their career.
Buble’s “Crazy Love” scored sales of 132,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, giving the pop singer his second No. 1 album.
Buble’s last set, 2007′s “Call Me Irresponsible,” debuted with 212,000 at No. 2 before moving to No. 1 the following week. “Crazy” is the artist’s third top 10 album. His second studio set, “It’s Time,” debuted and peaked at No. 7 in 2005.
The release of “Crazy” was pushed up from its original date of October 13 to October 9 — likely to capitalize on Buble’s chat and performance on the “Oprah Winfrey Show” that day.
“Sonic Boom,” the new Walmart-exclusive studio album from KISS, sold 108,000 copies, the band’s second-best weekly sales tally since SoundScan began tracking data in 1991.
KISS’ previous chart high arrived with 1998′s “Psycho-Circus,” which debuted and peaked at No. 3 with sales of 110,000. “Psycho’s” opening frame is also the group’s best SoundScan sales week.
