Kanye West Apologizes To Taylor Swift On Twitter

Kanye West grabs the mic 001

With the 2010 MTV Movie Awards looming, Kanye West felt the need to apologize to Taylor Swift nearly a year after his transgression against her at the MTV Movie Awards where he brashly grabbed the microphone from her hand during what was the beginning of her acceptance speech for her Best Female Video Award. Even though this is a re-cap apology as Kanye had already apologized on his blog the night of the kurfuffle, an immediate private and personal apology to Taylor Swift should have come first, one without excuses. Take note, those who purposely make silly and immensely dumb mistakes.

Although his fifth album is due to drop November 16, Kanye West is tirelessly working to give his fans some weekly fun through the holidays.

The rapper has announced on Twitter that he plans to release a new song “every weekend until Xmas”.

“I’m calling it good Fridays. Yall know every Friday yall gone have a new joint from our family. We look at the game completely different now,” West tweeted.

The rapper said that the new songs could be one of his own tracks or “it may be a new Jay song, etc.” West is currently working on new tunes for several other artists, including Raekwon, Mos Def, Swizz Beatz, Pharrell and Clipse’s Pusha T.

“Swizz looked at me the other night and said man are you getting sleep and I told him I can’t sleep… My people need this new music,” West tweeted.

The rapper recently finished work on a remix of Justin Bieber’s “Runaway Love” with Raekwon. West also released the remix of “Power,” featuring Jay-Z and Swizz Beatz, on Friday and premiered “See Me Now,” a new track with Beyonce and Charlie Wilson, earlier this month.

“It’s about the fans. No more holding back,” said West. “That’s why I dropped ‘See Me Now’… It wasn’t about me it was about the Summer the BBQs etc.”

West is set to perform at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12 after infamously interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at last year’s ceremony. He also tweeted a vague update on Monday that he is “working on the Movie… Unicorns and Rza beats yo.”

Kanye Teams Up With Beyonce & His Massive Ego On ‘See Me Now’

When I first heard the news that Kanye teamed up with Beyoncé for a song on his new album, I got a little excited. Then I thought about the VMA incident with Kanye and Taylor Swift, which also involved Beyoncé and then I started to question their collaboration. After listening to the song, it’s clear that, even with all of his efforts and public cries for attention claiming that he wants to be a better man, Kanye West’s ego will always get the best of him. How unfortunate.

Towards the end of the song, Kanye brags:

“I betcha they put me back on the cover of Ebony right now…I know JET Magazine are callin’ right now…I’m back baby! Imma let you finish…but I got Beyonce on the track! We the greatest in the world baby!”

Last night at the 2010 BET Awards, Kanye West made his first televised performance since the MTV VMA’s fiasco with Taylor Swift. He performed his new single “Power”.

During the live performance Kanye lit up the stage on top of a giant erupting volcano, with a backdrop of majestic mountain peaks behind him.

Not sure what message Kanye was trying to convey with his performance….it was a little too egotistical for our taste!

“We Are The World 25 For Haiti” Premiers At The Olympics Opening Ceremonies

If you missed the Opening Ceremonies of the Vancouver Olympics on Friday night, chances are you missed the world premier of the ‘We Are The World 25 For Haiti’ remake.

A shortened, tightly edited version aired on NBC and there were definitely some surprises. The remake included many trends in popular music including everyone’s best friend, auto-tune. It also included rap, as well as translation into Creole, one of Haiti’s official languages. Michael Jackson posthumously appeared in the video alongside his sister, Janet. What was meant to be a touching tribute to Jackson was kind of awkward. Every other singer was filmed in front of a microphone while they were recording, however Janet was shot in front of a green screen with no microphone in sight and you couldn’t really hear her.

The song also started with Justin Bieber. I’m sure Bieber’s fans went nuts, but really? And I was surprised that Miley Cyrus wasn’t included in the shortened version. Cyrus sang on the second verse, which you can see in the extended version of the video here on iMusicDaily.

Regardless of what we think, ‘We Are The World 25 For Haiti’ is a great effort to raise money for Haiti. You can download the remake of ‘We Are The World 25 For Haiti’ and donate HERE.

Kanye West showed off his charitable side by taking time out to serve a holiday lunch for homeless people on Saturday.

Kanye and his girlfriend Amber Rose turned up at The Los Angeles Mission, where they volunteered in the kitchen and donned aprons to dish out hot meals to those in need. This L.A. Mission is located in downtown Los Angeles in the Skid Row District, which contains the largest population of homeless people in the city.

He says, “It’s just important (to give back) when you’re very blessed. (It’s nice) to spread your blessings and take time out, especially during the holidays to appreciate people who never get that appreciation. It makes me feel really good to come out here and I just thank y’all for allowing us to be apart of this.”

Yeah…..Kanye you’re still an asshole.

Michael Jackson’s Death Is The Top Entertainment Story Of 2009

2009 has been a pretty eventful year. Here are 2009′s top entertainment stories as voted by U.S. newspaper and broadcast editors surveyed by The Associated Press.

1. Michael Jackson Dies: On June 25, Jackson was pronounced dead at the age of 50. One of the most momentous and shocking deaths in pop culture history, the event reverberated in many ways. There was the ongoing investigation: Jackson’s death was ruled a homicide, and his personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, who says he’s innocent of wrongdoing, is being investigated for manslaughter. There was the gigantic Los Angeles funeral. There was the documentary, “This is It,” of Jackson’s preparations for a comeback concert series. But, perhaps most of all, there was the celebration of his music, on stages and sidewalks the world over.

2. Susan Boyle Becomes Overnight Sensation: Two 21st-century powers – reality TV and the Web – combined to turn the humble, unknown Boyle into an international star. After Boyle sang “I Dreamed a Dream” on “Britain’s Got Talent” on April 11, the clip spread like wildfire online, totaling more than 120 million views on YouTube. Her album, released in November, had the best opening week sales of a female debut in decades.

3. Late-Night Swap: On NBC, Conan O’Brien took over the “Tonight” show, and Jay Leno moved to 10 p.m. All the fanfare may have been overdone, though: At year’s end, neither was receiving good ratings.

4. Walter Cronkite Dies: The passing on July 17 of Cronkite, a paragon of journalism and a father figure to a nation, was not only the sad loss of a universally acknowledged great man but was a reminder of a bygone era in broadcasting.

5. David Letterman Affair: Letterman’s Oct. 1 announcement on his “Late Show” carried two bombshells: He alleged that he had been the victim of an extortion attempt, and he confessed to having affairs with women on his staff. Letterman, who hasn’t shied from the subject on air, saw some of his best ratings in years. The man accused of trying to blackmail Letterman, Robert J. “Joe” Halderman, says he was just shopping a screenplay.

6. Chris Brown Assaults Rihanna: The big story on Grammy night in 2009 didn’t take place on stage but outside the ceremony. Chris Brown assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna, an altercation that led to Brown pleading guilty to felony assault in June. Both R&B stars were in comeback mode before the year was out, releasing new albums just weeks apart.

7. Kanye West Robs Taylor Swift: Bad behavior, not awards, also ruled the story line at the MTV Video Music Awards. When a stage-crashing West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech for best female video, the rapper clearly underestimated the negative reaction he would inspire.

8. Live Video Explodes On The Web: One of the biggest trends in online video was the emergence of demand – and supply – for live video. Live online video particularly suited daytime news events (when people are at work in front of computers). Millions online watched the inauguration of President Barack Obama and the funeral of Michael Jackson.

9. Kate And Jon Gosselin Broadcast Split: One of reality TV’s latest sensations fell apart just as it was reaching fruition. TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ was winning its best ratings in its fifth season when the Gosselins – parents of eight children – announced their separation. With more than 10 million viewers, that episode earned the show its best ratings. Arguments in the divorce, which became final in December, have thus far prevented the show from continuing. TLC hopes to debut a show for Kate Gosselin in the spring.

10. Heath Ledger Wins Posthumous Oscar: Ledger, whose death topped the poll of 2008′s top entertainment stories, remained a presence in 2009, when he won an Oscar for best-supporting actor for his performance as the Joker in “The Dark Knight.”

Kid Cudi Drops Out of Gaga’s ‘Monster Ball’ Tour

Once again, Lady Gaga will have to find another touring partner amidst controversy.

You may recall that Gaga was originally going to co-headline a tour with Kanye West, but that came to an end following Kanye’s outburst against Taylor Swift at the MTV VMAs.

Now, Kid Cudi, Gaga’s opening act, has dropped out of the tour following an incident in which he punched a fan in the face during a recent concert in Vancouver, although his reps released a statement suggesting the incident has nothing to do with Cudi’s departure.

The statement says –

“Kid Cudi has decided to take an early leave of absence from Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball tour, in order to balance his schedule surrounding the recording of his next album and acting commitments…Cudi does not want to disappoint his fans and will move forward with his individual show dates in December and throughout the month of January.”

What do you think? Was Cudi cut from the tour because of his violent outburst?

Kris Allen Performs Hip Hop Medley

We haven’t been hearing much about Idol winner Kris Allen. His debut album hasn’t performed well, which makes us wonder what happened to all of his fans from American Idol.

Allen performed a special Hip Hop medley this past weekend at the Z100 Jingle Ball. The medley included his well known cover of Kanye West’s ‘Heartless’ and Coolio’s ‘Gangsters Paradise’.

Maybe Allen should put out an album of all Hip Hop cover songs…

Check it out –
