Katy Perry’s latest hit is ruling the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart marked a second consecutive week at No. 1.

The last song to spend successive frames at the top of the Hot 100 was “Like a G6,” by Far*East Movement in late-October.

One of those former No. 1s, “What’s My Name?” by Rihanna featuring Drake, was also angling for a second shot at glory by rising one place to No. 2 on the heels of strong radio airplay. The R&B starlet held at No. 6 with “Only Girl (In the World).”

Bruno Mars moved two places to No. 3 with “Grenade.” His former No. 1, “Just the Way You Are,” held at No. 7. Pink’s “Raise Your Glass” dropped two to No. 4, while Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R” inched it’s way to No. 5.

“The Time (Dirty Bit)” by The Black Eyed Peas slid four places to No. 8, Nelly’s “Just a Dream” remained steady at No. 9, and “Bottoms Up” by Trey Songz featuring Nicki Minaj held at No. 10.

Jailed rapper T.I. claimed the top debut as “That’s All She Wrote” came in at No. 18. The tune comes from his new album “No Mercy,” which debuted at a disappointing No. 4 on the Billboard 200 on Wednesday.

This sounds about right, do you agree??

Katy Perry logs the fastest No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 by an artist signed to Capitol Records in nearly 43 years, as “California Gurls,” featuring Snoop Dogg, rises 2-1 in its fourth week on the chart.

The song makes the quickest sprint to the summit by a Capitol single since Bobbie Gentry’s “Ode to Billie Joe” likewise reached the top spot in four weeks on the chart dated Aug. 26, 1967. Five months before Gentry, the Beatles’ “Penny Lane” had also zipped to No. 1 in four frames.

Perry’s hit crowns the chart thanks in part to its selling 318,000 downloads (up 18%) in the chart’s tracking week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The cut leads Digital Songs for a third week. On Radio Songs, “California Gurls” jumps 10-6 (89.2 million in audience, up 25%, according to Nielsen BDS).

Usher’s ‘OMG’ No. 1 Song in the Country

Indeed, the song is emerging as a world-wide contender for 2010′s hot summer song; “OMG” has reached No. 1 on iTunes charts in the UK, Australia and Ireland.

Rihanna’s finally got a No. 1 hit off her latest album, Rated R. ‘Rude Boy’ claims the top spot this week knocking Rihanna’s labelmate, Taio Cruz, out of the No.1 position that he held with ‘Break Your Heart’.

‘Rude Boy’ is my jam! I wish the rest of her album was more like this song. It’s got a great beat and it’s not as dark as the other tracks on Rated R. This is the Rihanna we know and love. Give us more!

Congratulations.

Justin Timberlake’s new collaboration with Timbaland has already #11 on the Billboard Hot 100, and now JT’s back with a new drive-thru inspired music video.

This song is pretty repetitive, but it’s got a good beat. I just hope Timberlake’s new album gives us something more to talk about.

Ke$ha has a lot to celebrate. Not only did her album Animal knock Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed A Dream out of the top spot, but she also has the No. 1 single on the Hot 100 chart with ‘Tik Tok’. Ke$ha is the first artist to top both charts since Leona Lewis in 2008.

But it doesn’t stop there!

Ke$ha’s second single ‘Blah Blah Blah’ skyrocketed to the No. 7 spot on the Hot 100 chart and debuted at the No. 2 spot on the Digital Songs Chart. ‘Tik Tok’ is No. 1 on the Digital Songs Chart. Ke$ha is the first artist to hold down both spots since the Black Eyed Peas did it with ‘Boom Boom Pow’ and ‘I Gotta Feeling’.

Congratulations.

Jay-Z will earn his fourth Hot 100 No. 1, but his first as a lead or co-billed performer, as his collaboration with Alicia Keys, “Empire State of Mind,” will top the chart to be released today.

The legendary rapper’s prior chart-topping entries came as a featured vocalist on Mariah Carey’s “Heartbreaker” (1999), his now-wife’s “Crazy In Love” (2003) and Rihanna’s “Umbrella” (2007). “Empire” is also Keys’ fourth overall No. 1, as she previously scaled the list with her debut single “Fallin’” (2001), her duet with Usher, “My Boo,” (2004) and “No One” (2007).
