Lady Gaga Will Sing for the Queen at Annual Royal Variety Performance 2

Lady Gaga crushed her female musician competitors in 2011, at the top of a list of highest earning women with an estimated $90 million in income, according to a Forbes.com survey.

Gaga made more than double her nearest rival, country/pop artist Taylor Swift, thanks to multiple endorsement deals and an estimated $1.3 million nightly gross ticket sales from her concert tour.

Swift earned about $45 million, thanks to her hit album “Speak Now”, perfume line, and other deals, just ahead of “Teenage Dream” singer Katy Perry with $44 million.

Forbes.com drew up its list from data on pre-tax income compiled through record sales, touring data and interviews with music lawyers, managers and concert promoters.

Beyonce’s 2011 income dipped to an estimated $35 million, mostly because of her relatively small amount of touring this year, but her new album “4″, fashion line, and two fragrances helped to put her in 4th place.

Rihanna rounded out the top 5, earning an estimated $29 million from sales of her album “Loud”, and endorsements from cosmetics company CoverGirl.

Taylor Swift Takes A Break From The Spotlight

In an effort to avoid overexposure, Scott Borchetta, head of Taylor Swift’s record label, announced that Swift will be taking a break from the spotlight.

“She was on an amazing writing spree through December and January, and we were able to go in and cut all those things,” Borchetta says. “If she writes something great between now and July, it will go on the record. She’s been extraordinarily prolific the last six months.”

After winning the Country Music Award for Entertainer of the Year and the youngest artist in history to win a Grammy for Album of The Year, with over 10 million albums sold and 23 songs in the top 40 on the charts, I’d say Swift is already overexposed. The negative reaction to Swift’s Grammy win was probably the deciding factor to keep Swift out of the spotlight.

How long will Swift be laying low? Her third album is due out by the end of the year and her first single is expected to make its way to radio sometime in September, so if you want to catch a glimpse of Swift, you’ll have to track her down on her world tour.

Do you thank Taylor Swift is overexposed?

Did Wynonna Judd Diss Taylor Swift After CMAs?

Wynonna+Judd

After Taylor Swift made history at the 2009 Country Music Awards, Wynonna Judd felt that Taylor was too young to have won.

She said:

“You want my honest comment? It’s too much too soon. Time is God’s way of keeping everything from happening at once. It’s just too much of a good thing too soon. My thing is, being a home-school mom, I want kids to earn it, and I think some time … ’cause mom and I rode in a car for the first year of our career to visit radio stations. There was a making of the star, there was a rising up, and the fans went with us. Now it’s over coffee breaks, the success, almost. You have to play catch up … It’s like the girl who wins an Oscar and she’s under 20. What do you do from here?”

Jealousy’s a bitch, isn’t it, Wynonna…

After realizing that her comments regarding Taylor Swift were inappropriate, Wynonna Judd took to her website to send a message to her fans and Taylor.

She writes:

“I understand that my comment about Taylor Swift’s Entertainer of the Year nomination came across as a negative statement. My intent was not to take anything away from her talent and contributions to the country music industry…all of which are truly unprecedented for an artist of ANY age. Taylor is a beautiful, hard working young woman that deserves the success she has had and I support her as an artist and as a woman in the business.”

We all know she’s still jealous…

CMA 2009 Awards Winner List

The CMA Awards 2009 winners are happy about their 2009 CMA Awards wins. Who won the various awards last night? Let me tell you what, there were plenty of surprises, laughs, and not-so-big surprises that made this night grand.

Taylor Swift won all of the awards that she was up for – but is that a surprise? The surprise was that Kanye West didn’t pop up on stage to talk about how someone else should have won the awards. Lady Antebellum had a good night as well with 2 wins. Before we get any further, here’s a list of the official CMA Awards 2009 winners:

Entertainer of the Year: Taylor Swift
Male Vocalist of the Year: Brad Paisley
Single of the Year: “I Run to You,” Lady Antebellum
Album of the Year: Fearless, Taylor Swift
Female Vocalist of the Year: Taylor Swift
Song of the Year: “In Color,” Jamey Johnson (w/ cowriters Lee Thomas Miller and James Otto)
Music Video of the Year: “Love Story,” Taylor Swift
Best New Artist of the Year: Darius Rucker
Musician of the Year: Mac McAnally
Event of the Year: “Start a Band,” Brad Paisley and Keith Urban
Vocal Group of the Year: Lady Antebellum
Vocal Duo of the Year: Sugarland

Although Taylor Swift didn’t have the most nominations (Brad Paisley did), she walked away with the most wins. Lady Antebellum had 2 wins, and Brad Paisley had 2 wins as well. Miss Swift had a whopping 4 wins, meaning she walked away with over 30% of the awards.

Taylor Swift claimed a piece of music history when she became the youngest artist ever to win the coveted title of Entertainer of the Year at the Country Music Awards.

Swift, 19, also claimed awards for Female Vocalist of the Year, Music Video of the Year for her song “Love Story” and Album of the Year with “Fearless” at the Nov. 12 ceremony in Nashville.

“I’ll never forget this moment because at this moment everything that I ever wanted has just happened to me,” a tearful Swift said when accepting her award.

“I want to thank every single person here tonight for not running up on stage during this speech,” Swift said when picking up her trophy for female vocalist.

After the show, Swift told reporters she would always be grateful. “I feel so lucky. This has been a fun night,” she said.

She won Entertainer of the Year over some of the biggest names in country music, including Kenny Chesney, who had claimed the honor for three straight years heading into Wednesday’s ceremony in the capitol of country, Nashville.

The Country Music Awards are one of the year’s top honors for county and western singers.

Cangratulations!

2009 American Music Awards

Eminem and Lady Gaga have been added to the performer lineup for the American Music Awards, according to Entertainment Weekly. The 37th annual show, which will air live from Los Angeles on November 22, will also feature performances from Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, the Black Eyed Peas and, in the television debut of the title track from his upcoming album For Your Entertainment, Adam Lambert.

The show will be an “American Idol” reunion of sorts, as alumni Kelly Clarkson, Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood will perform as well.

The awards show will feature a similarly glittering array of nominees determined by data from Nielsen SoundScan radio and retail figures, with Taylor Swift in the lead with six nominations, followed by the late Michael Jackson and Eminem at five apiece. Though Jackson had not released new material for nearly a decade, his nominations are based on the strong sales of his catalog albums following his June 25 death.

Swift’s nominations include Artist of the Year; Favorite Country Album (for Fearless); Favorite Female Pop or Rock Artist; and Favorite Female Country Artist. MJ was also recognized in the Pop or Rock Artist of Year category, Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist and Favorite Soul/R&B Album (for Number Ones). Em’s nominations include Artist of the Year; Favorite Male Pop or Rock Artist; Favorite Male Rap/Hip-Hop Artist; and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album (for Relapse).

Other multiple-category nominees include Lady Gaga, T.I., Kings of Leon, Beyoncé and the Peas, who all have three. For the third year, winners will be determined by online voting.
