Drake Will Perform at NHL All-Star Game

Drake, the hip-hop pride of Toronto, will perform at the 2012 NHL All-Star Game, which will be held in Ottawa, Ontario on Sunday, January 29th. The rapper will be joined by New York singer-rapper Outasight and “The Voice” winner Javier Colon at the star-studded hockey event at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa.

Drake is set to perform during the second intermission, while Outasight will perform his breakout single, “Tonight is the Night,” during the player introductions. Colon and longtime Ottowa Senators anthem singer Lyndon Slewidge will handle the U.S. and Canadian national anthems, respectively.

Nicki Minaj and Foo Fighters to Perform at Grammys

Rapper Nicki Minaj will make her debut Grammy performance next month, joining Foo Fighters, Bruno Mars and country singer Jason Aldean on the list of artists who will take to the stage on the recording industry’s biggest night.

Grammy organizers said on Thursday that Minaj, who has four Grammy nominations, will perform at the February 12 awards show, as well as country sensation Taylor Swift, and Kelly Clarkson.

Rapper Kanye West, who leads this year’s Grammys with seven nominations, is also yet to be confirmed as a performer at the live awards show in Los Angeles.

Organizers said additional performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.

Lady Gaga Covers NME Magazine

Lady Gaga is on the cover of the new issue of NME magazine baring her soul for the world to see that the media and anyone else can tear her apart, strip her down to the core and what’s left is pure talent. She’s no manufactured pop princess, y’all!

On performing while pregnant: “It was horrible. Certain songs would make me want to puke. You feel pretty gross when you are first pregnant. You don’t feel cute, you feel disgusting. You’re getting fat. It was hard. I mean, I’m very vain. That would be my middle name. Of course I am, you know what I mean? I love the visual.”

On whether Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Katy Perry have taken a page out of her playbook when it comes to style: “Really? I don’t see myself in those girls. I usually put pants on. So the intentions of even the solo records were always about trying to write those guilty-pleasure albums that just get in your head and you can’t get out. I’m not cool, I’m not into the B-sides. Prince, who is one of my idols, gave me some advice when I worked with him: “Have you ever just tried writing a hit? Like, don’t just try writing a song, try and write a hit song.” I remember him saying that and me thinking, Yeah, you’re right. Why would you write anything else?”

On her marriage to Gavin Rossdale: “The first time we ever kissed was right around Valentine’s Day—we were in New Orleans on tour. So, yeah, I always think about that because it’s unbelievable that we’ve been able to stay together. I feel so proud of us—it’s one of my biggest achievements.”

Adele’s 21 Continues To Tie Major Records

Adele’s new album 21 has been blowing up my iTunes playlist and it looks like I’m not alone. The album has spent 9 weeks at No. 1 on the UK charts.

Adele’s current single ‘Someone Like You’ has spent 5 out of the past 6 weeks at No. 1 on the singles chart.

Adele’s 21 is now the longest running number one album since the Beatles 1 album. That’s pretty impressive! 21 is also the first album by a female solo artist to spend this long at the top, equal only with Madonna’s 1990 hits package ‘The Immaculate Collection’.

Rihanna Covers Rolling Stone

I didn’t realize it until now, but this is the first time that Rihanna has been on the cover of Rolling Stone. And she looks hot! I love that big red hair on her. She owns it!

Interesting that Miss Britney Spears isn’t on the cover to promote her new album out today…

New Artist Spotlight – Liz Loughrey

Earlier this week, Liz Loughrey wowed us with her cover of Jessie J’s ‘Who You Are’ and now we’ve got an exclusive interview for you to find out more about this rising Canadian star who is set to be Canada’s biggest export to the States since Justin Bieber.

At 15, Loughrey’s confidence and ability exceed that of most people twice her age. In 2010, Loughrey found herself sharing the stage with Marianas Trench, one of Canada’s most successful bands. After submitting a video to a competition organized by the band, Liz was chosen to perform “Good To You” with the band’s lead singer Josh Ramsey in front of a sold out crowd of thousands at Toronto’s Direct Energy Centre. Following her performance, fans of Marianas Trench quickly spread the word online about Loughrey’s incredible vocal ability through social networks like YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook, helping to establish a firm fan base for the budding young star.

Joe Jonas On The Cover Of Details, Talks New Music

Joe Jonas is looking…um…hot on the cover of the new issue of Details Magazine. In the magazine, Joe talks about is upcoming solo music career. Joe has been working closely with Rob Knox who is part of The Y’s production team with Justin Timberlake.

“I look at Joe’s scenario as kind of like when Justin Timberlake broke out of ‘N Sync,” says Rob Knox, a producer working on Joe’s solo project who previously teamed up with Rihanna and Jamie Foxx. “Justin was 21 when he came out as a solo artist. Joe is coming to producers who know how to create that edgier pop feeling. We’re not doing any boy-band songs.”

“I wanted to do something you could hear in a club or something you could dance to,” says Joe. “Something that’s fun—something that’s me. I think it was definitely because I was getting older…”
