Dr. Conrad Murray, the doctor who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the overdose death of Michael Jackson, was sentenced to the maximum four years in prison on Tuesday, putting the tragic saga of The King of Pop to rest.

As Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor chastised Dr. Conrad Murray for his “horrific violation of trust” while caring for Jackson, Murray sat stoically, unflinching.

Judge Pastor said one of the most disturbing aspects of Murray’s case was a slurred recording of Jackson that was recovered from the doctor’s cell phone.

“That tape recording was Dr. Murray’s insurance policy,” Pastor said. “It was designed to record his patient surreptitiously at that patient’s most vulnerable point.”

Michael Jackson’s family said in a statement, “We are not here to seek revenge. There is nothing you can do today that will bring Michael back.” The family expressed to Pastor that they only wanted the doctor who was responsible for Michael’s death to receive a stiff sentence that serves as a warning to opportunistic doctors.

Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter following a six-week trial that presented the most detailed account yet of Jackson’s final hours and stirred questions about Murray’s treatment of the superstar with an operating-room anesthetic as he battled chronic insomnia.

Britney Spears was back in court yesterday where Commissioner Reva Goetz ordered the co-conservatorship with Britney’s father to continue. The length of the extension was not specified, however lawyers involved told TMZ they expect it to last between six months to a year.

Britney’s dad Jamie will continue to receive $16,000-a-month for his duties. Co-Conservator, Andrew Wallet, will receive $174,569.10 for his services rendered between July 2009 and November 2009. Attorneys involved with the case are to be paid almost $300,000 for their services.

Samuel Ingham, the court appointed attorney for Britney Spears, said in court that, “She [Britney] accepted the accounting as filed and had no objection to it.”

It was definitely an expensive day in court for Britney.

After serving only seven months of his one-year sentence for a felony weapons conviction, T.I. was released from a federal prison yesterday.

According to E! News, Steve Shadow, T.I.’s attorney, says that the rapper will report to a halfway house in Atlanta for the remainder of his sentence.

“[A halfway house] is not unusual in the least; it happens across the board as long as the inmates are eligible,” Sadow said, noting that T.I. also got credit for time served in home detention. “They decided that three months in a halfway house would assist him with reentering society.”

At least T.I won’t be spending the holidays behind bars. I wonder if they put up a christmas tree in the halfway house.

Chris Brown has received an “extremely favorable” report from probation officials overseeing his felony assault case, a judge said.

Brown appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom on Thursday (Nov. 19) to offer a judge his first progress report since being sentenced for beating ex-girlfriend Rihanna earlier this year. He talked and laughed with his lawyer before the hearing, which took less than 10 minutes.

The R&B singer is serving five years of probation and must attend domestic violence counseling and perform six months of community labor in Virginia.

Brown’s attorney, Mark Geragos, says Brown has already done 100 hours of community labor in Richmond, Va. Brown has also paid all of his court-ordered fees and fines.

Brown is due back in court for another progress report on Feb. 18.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, tickets for Chris Brown’s upcoming Fan Appreciation Tour aren’t selling very well.

Will Breezy be able to put his attack on Rihanna behind him and save his career or will his lady-beating meltdown haunt him “Forever?”

The disgraced former heartthrob is attempting a comeback with his Fan Appreciation Tour, which kicks off at the House of Blues in Houston next week, but Chris still struggles to fill the small venues he’s set to perform in, industry snitches spill to The NY Daily News. Chris’ tepid ticket sales in a direct result of his vicious attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna last February, industry execs tell the paper’s “Gatecrasher Column.”

“This is definitely not the outcome [Chris' label] Jive Records hoped for. Chris lost a lot of fans after he assaulted Rihanna. And after that whole scandal, he’s not exactly kid-friendly. What parent would buy their children tickets to his concert?”

In related news, Chris’ third album Graffiti has been pushed up a week to Dec. 8.

I wonder if he’s going to tweet on his Twitter about all of this?!

New Music: Chris Brown ‘Crawl’

chris brown is an idiot

Chris Brown has released the second single ‘Crawl’ off of his upcoming album Graffiti.

‘Crawl’ is clearly a cry-out to ex-girlfriend Rihanna begging for a second chance, following the domestic assault back in February. Brown sings: “Everybody says we’re through, I hope you hadn’t said it too, so where do we go from here, with all this fear in our eyes, and where can love take us now, we’ve been so far down…so we’ll crawl, until we can walk again.”

I can give credit where credit is due. ‘Crawl’ was produced by the Messengers. It’s a good song and, aside from Brown’s personal connection with the song, listeners will find many ways to relate to the song.

BUT, I still think Chris Brown is pathetic.

Chris Brown Still Has Feelings For Rihanna

Chris Brown has confessed he still has strong feelings for the woman he has been told to stay at least 100 yards away from for the next five years, Rihanna.

The disgraced singer pleaded guilty to assaulting the “Umbrella” hitmaker during a row in February, and he has been told to keep his distance as part of his punishment. But the “Kiss Kiss” star admits he’s still in love with his ex.

Speaking about life after the fight and subsequent legal woes on New York radio station Hot 97 on Wednesday, Brown told DJ Angie Martinez, “We’ve been friends since I was like 15, we got serious when I was, like, 17. Feelings are feelings and they don’t go away overnight, especially if you sit down and be like, ‘Look, I’m (going to) really be in this relationship with you, past whatever the case, past our busy schedules, past us being two of the biggest artists.’ I really care about her.”

Chris Brown Tries To Rain On Rihanna’s Parade

Shortly after Rihanna released her new single ‘Russian Roulette’, Chris Brown tried to steal the spotlight by announcing his Fan Appreciation tour. Classy.

Today, Brown went on air with New York’s Hot 97 The Angie Martinez show and reminded all of us why he’s such a great guy after beating up his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Can you sense my sarcasm?

Brown offered different excuses as to why he beat up Rihanna, but offered no real explanation other than, “I regret every second of it. I’m human.”

Human? It’s human to beat the one you love? I don’t think so.

Brown went on to say that he’s still mad at Oprah, too. After all he’s done with her, when he needed a helping hand, she wasn’t there. Is this guy serious?! You’re an adult, Chris. No one’s going to baby you for the rest of your life. Grow up and act like a man.

Brown promised to continue counseling and said he’d never hit a woman again.

Let’s hope he really means it…
