New York (AP) – Chris Brown will headline and host a benefit concert in Virginia next month. “Virginia Stand Up! A Call to Action” will be held May 15 at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Performers will include Trey Songz, Keri Hilson, T-Pain, Mario and Ryan Leslie.
The 20-year-old R&B singer said in a statement Monday he wanted to personally contribute to the Haitian relief effort and support an organization that helps people in his home state. Proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross and the Central Virginia Foodbank.
Brown was sentenced last year to five years’ probation and six months of community labor after pleading guilty to felony assault. He was charged in an attack on his then-girlfriend Rihanna hours before the 2009 Grammys.
Chris Brown Begs Fans To Help Get His Music On The Radio

Chris Brown is begging his fans to help with his comeback. He doesn’t know what else he can do besides reach out to his fans and get them to request his music on the radio.
Brown is still trying to rebuild his image after he brutally attacked Rihanna. He claims to be a better man, or does he just want more money in his pocket?
He feels like he has done all he can do following the famous incident, so he decided to record some audio (listen below) to make him sound even more desperate.
In a message uploaded to SayNow.com, Brown says, “I ain’t (sic) never really did this but right now I need all of my fans’ help. It’s crazy because a lot of radio stations aren’t playing my records. They’re not being that supportive and I wouldn’t expect them to. It’s on the fans and what you guys do in your power to bring me back because that’s all I need. Nothing else will do that except for the fans. There’s nothing else that I can do. I’m doing everything that I need to do. I’m doing me as a person and I’m a better guy.”
“My singing and my music I do it for you guys and everything else but it won’t be possible if I’m not relevant on the radio and it wouldn’t be possible for me to be an artist if I don’t have any support. I can’t be an underground mix-tape artist. That’s where we are. I just want all my fans to help me. I love y’all. Peace.”
ABC Pulls Chris Brown “Good Morning America” Performance

ABC pulled the plug on controversial crooner Chris Brown’s performance Good Morning America next week.
Instead, Brown has agreed to “come clean” with the events leading up to his February attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna in a primetime interview with Robin Roberts, the network has revealed.
ABC was harshly criticized by gay and women’s rights advocates last week after it cancelled a performance by openly-gay former American Idol Adam Lambert on GMA — following his sex-charged performance on the American Music Awards–then announced plans to allow Chris — a convicted felon and woman beater to promote his latest CD with a live show on the program.
Chris is promising to give details of the incident in an “in-depth interview” with GMA host Robin Roberts set to air on 20/20 Dec. 11. His appearance comes just a month after Rihanna’s 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer drew nearly 9 million viewers.
