Lady GaGa

Producer RedOne has been dishing out some new details this week on Lady Gaga’s upcoming third album.

RedOne told Billboard:

“It’s going to be shocking, shocking, shocking!”

“You never want to go too far from your brand — people love you for a reason. But we still want to give them something with a kick, something that makes them say, ‘Oh my God! We didn’t expect this!’

“When you heard ‘Bad Romance’ after ‘Poker Face,’ it was like the best thing you’ve ever heard,” he continues. “We want that type of reaction. I think that’s part of my job and her job — to keep her evolving. “

“It [Bad Romance] was really good musically but it was a bit too left. I asked her if we could take it more to the middle, and she said, ‘I’m open. Let’s do it,’”

RedOne told the BBC:

“When you see everyone singing along to something – that’s the goal. You know that the song is good. Especially in countries that don’t speak English.”

BBC: Is that why so many of your songs use nonsense words – like the “ra, ra, ra” refrain in Bad Romance?

“Of course. It’s the same with “ma ma ma ma” in Poker Face. Everything is a hook.”

It sounds like we can expect to hear a familiar sound from the two RedOne produced tracks on Lady Gaga’s album. Is that good or bad?

British media reports say George Michael has been arrested after a car crash in London.

The BBC says the 47-year-old singer was arrested Sunday after police responded to reports that a car had crashed into a building in Hampstead, an upscale residential area in north London.

Metropolitan Police say only that they arrested a man in his 40s early Sunday in Hampstead on suspicion of being unfit to drive. They say the man was taken to a police station and released on bail pending further inquiries.

The singer’s publicists in London declined comment Tuesday.

Last year, Michael was questioned by police after his car hit a tractor-trailer, but was released. He was banned from driving for two years in 2007 after pleading guilty to driving on drugs.

morrissey falls on stage

Former Smiths frontman Morrissey was released Sunday from a hospital where he was held overnight after collapsing on stage during a concert.

A spokeswoman for the Great Western Hospital in the English city of Swindon said the singer was “much improved.”

“Morrissey became unwell, and he was admitted overnight as a precautionary measure,” she said on condition of anonymity, in line with hospital policy. “He’s been seen by the medical team, much improved and now discharged home.”

A note on the 50-year-old singer’s website thanked fans for their good wishes.

Morrissey was performing at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon, about 100 miles west of London, on Saturday night as part of his “Swords” tour when he was stricken. Two band members rushed to his side and dragged him offstage.

Fans were unsure what had happened. Jillian Moody told the BBC that some expected him to return to the stage.

“I didn’t think he looked particularly well but then again, he’s well known as a reclusive character so I sort of thought that was just the way he was when he was on stage,” she said. “He kept putting his hand up to his mouth as if he felt sick or perhaps he was trying to hide something, but he didn’t look particularly comfortable. He got through the whole song though … to rapturous applause at the end.”

He has rescheduled several shows this year, and is due to play a string of European dates through the rest of October and November.

Robbie Williams made a triumphant live comeback in London last night (Oct. 21), as part of the BBC’s Electric Proms series of concerts.

Appearing at the London Roundhouse with a 38-piece band, including string and brass sections — led by Trevor Horn, who produced Williams’ new album “Reality Killed the Video Star” — Williams was in confident, relaxed form from the start. He made his entrance down a white staircase to current single “Bodies,” which entered the U.K. charts at No. 2 on Oct. 18.

Williams premiered seven songs from the new album, due Nov. 9 in the United Kingdom on Virgin Records. As well as “Bodies,” he aired what he said would be the album’s second single, “You Know Me,” alongside “Morning Sun,” “Blasphemy,” “Starstruck,” “Deceptacon” and “Won’t Do That.” Most of the new material harks back to Williams’ trademark adult pop sound, with little of the experimentation that marked his last album “Rudebox,” which proved a critical and commercial flop.

Stephen Davies, director of audio and music at BBC Worldwide said: ”We knew that there would be significant interest in this concert, but the public reaction has exceeded all of our expectations.”

UPDATE: Robbie Williams set a world record yesterday by having the most screenings of a live concert in theaters. The BBC’s live show “Electric Proms” was broadcast simultaneously in venues all over the world in 23 countries.Extra screenings are planned in the coming weeks for countries a bit further from Williams’ native England including Australia and South Africa.
