Adam Lambert to Perform with Band Queen

American Idol star Adam Lambert reportedly told the British tabloid, Daily Star, that he will be performing with the original members guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor of the pop-cult band Queen this summer. The original singer of Queen, Freddie Mercury, passed away in 1991.
“The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some f—ing great songs,” he said. “It’s to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have been proud of.”
“After the EMAs, I heard faint little slithers of a backlash from people saying: ‘You can’t replace Freddie Mercury.’ But I already knew that,” he said. “There’s no intention in my mind of replacing Freddie. That’s impossible. The way I’m choosing to view it is that it’s a great honour and one I’m in no way going to shirk … Being asked to front Queen is the best thing that can possibly happen.”
British Band The Kooks Try to Find American Success

The British band The Kooks are finishing up their U.S. tour this week, hoping to score a major hit in America with new music soon to come.
The indie rock band will play the historic Fillmore in San Francisco on Tuesday in support of their third album “Junk of the Heart,” then head back to Great Britain.
Their latest single, “How’d You Like That,” hit U.S. airwaves last week, and the band has made the rounds of clubs and other venues and last month appeared on popular late-night talk program, “The Late Show with David Letterman.”
Yet, even as they depart from this round of touring, the Kooks want more from the United States.
“I have a fire in my belly to write the best songs, and I still love doing it,” lead singer Luke Pritchard said. “I hope we have a tune that connects really big here in the U.S., and I want to work with some American musicians and have collaborations happening,” he said.
Tommy Lee Sued by Former Assistant

The former assistant for the rocker Tommy Lee filed a lawsuit against him and his company, Mayhem Touring, in Los Angeles Superior Court Wednesday.
The former assistant, Michael Anthony Sullivan, claimed that he was worked virtually around the clock, and that Lee made improper deductions from the assistant’s paycheck. Sullivan continued to claim that he worked as Lee’s “procurer, Man Friday, chauffeur, guide, bookkeeper, attendant, door-keeper, agent, butler, valet, attendant, cook, shopper, nanny, bodyguard, maid, nurse and nursemaid” from January of 2005 to March 2011, saying that he was on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The suit says there were “long periods of time during which Sullivan was required seven days a week, without a single day off.” It also claims that Sullivan’s schedule was particularly grueling when he was on the road with Lee, with 80- to 100-hour work weeks being the norm.
The suit also claims that Sullivan never received overtime compensation for his extra work.
Moreover, according to Sullivan, Lee was in the habit of making improper deductions from Sullivan’s pay. When the rocker had Sullivan move into his home to better serve him and his family, Sullivan claims that Lee began deducting $1,000 a month for rent, even during the last six months of his employment with Lee, when he was no longer living at the house.
In addition, Sullivan claims that Lee trash-talked him all over town after his employment ended, causing him lose two tour-manager positions, with the bands Godsmack and Bush.
Sullivan is seeking “no less than $50,000,” the amount he says that he’s out because of the lost work, plus punitive damages “in an amount sufficient to punish Lee and make an example of him.”

Exclusive Interview with The Morning Of

These days, it’s rare when a band comes along and gets us so excited that we can’t be tamed like Miley Cyrus on a stripper pole. We recently got a chance to check out indie pop/rock band The Morning Of while we were down in San Diego. The band was on tour in support of The Dangerous Summer, but they were also promoting their own album The Way I Fell In.
It didn’t take long for us fall in love with their sound on the new album. Upbeat, energetic, and musical are the first words that come to mind when describing The Morning Of. The first comparison that came to mind was The Rocket Summer. One unique aspect of the band are the two lead singers, Justin and Jessica. Not only do that have strong voices, but they’ve got great chemistry as well.

Platinum-selling hit-makers the Gin Blossoms have signed with 429 Records and are preparing for both the release of their highly anticipated new album, “NO CHOCOLATE CAKE” and an extensive U.S. tour. With total worldwide album sales topping 30 million units powered by their indelibly melodic, Grammy-nominated Top Ten singles, Gin Blossoms–Robin Wilson, Jesse Valenzuela, Scott Johnson and Bill Leen, are back and in peak form! The eleven new tracks were written, produced and performed by the band with the help of John Richardson (drums) and Danny Wilde on keyboards and additional production (of The Rembrandts). The first single, “Miss Disarray,” will be promoted at Hot Adult Contemporary radio outlets (add date 8/2). “NO CHOCOLATE CAKE” is set for release in North America on September 28th on 429 Records.
Four years after the critically acclaimed “Major Lodge Victory,” Gin Blossoms have put together a seamless musical confection. The band continues to benefit from an innate chemistry and inspiration–a dynamic that helped catapult songs such as “Hey Jealousy,” “Found Out About You,” “Till I Hear From You” and “Follow You Down” into the collective musical consciousness and helped define an era as well as selling 30 million records worldwide.
Says Wilson, “There’s just something about the way we play and sound together. It’s those songs and the sound we make that add up to something indefinable.”

Artist To Watch: Palomino Blitz

You’ve got to check out the band, Palomino Blitz!
Their music is creative and fun and the lyrics tell unusual tales that stick in your mind long after the song ends. They’re from Rome, Italy of all places, but lead singer, Mia Julia is half-American, that’s why you won’t detect a hint of an accent. In fact, her voice sounds much like Gwen Stefani in some songs and like Shirley Manson in others.
They’ve just produced their first album, “Nothing Wrong” coming soon to iTunes. In the meantime ,you can hear the whole album on their myspace: www.myspace.com/palominoblitz. Highlights are “I Can’t Recall” “Your Playground” “Nothing Wrong” and “Come and Go.”
This is definitely a band to watch!
