Check out this chick from down under!

Orianthi, a 24 year old Australian guitar prodigy, has already shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the music business and now it’s her turn to step into the spotlight with the upcoming release of her debut album Believe.

She has performed with Santana, Carrie Underwood, and Steve Vai, but nothing compares to being handpicked by the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson, to play lead guitar for what would have been his This Is It tour.

Her debut single ‘According To You’ is a feisty, upbeat pop-rock anthem that will have you singing along as soon as you hit the chorus. It’s catchy as hell! I’m sure there are a few female pop stars who wish this could have been their single.

Check out ‘According To You’ –

British alternative rock trio Muse, pop artist Lily Allen and returning local heroes Powderfinger are booked to play the 2010 Big Day Out festival tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Others confirmed by organizers the line-up includes British electronica acts Groove Armada and Calvin Harris, swaggering Brit rockers Kasabian, alt-rock band the Horrors, rapper Dizzee Rascal and rising local artists Ladyhawke, Lisa Mitchell and the Temper Trap. But there was no space on today’s announcement for David Bowie, who had been widely tipped by bloggers to show down under for an acoustic performance.

Now entering its 18th run, the Big Day Out is the largest outdoor music event of its kind in Australia. Attendance for the six-date 2009 edition reached 263,054, down slightly from the all-time peak of 282,692 for the 2008 tour.

The BDO 2010 kicks off Jan. 15 at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium, before moving on to venues at the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and concluding Jan. 31 at Perth’s Claremont Showground. Tickets will be priced at $140 Australian ($100) for the Australian dates and $132 New Zealand ($92) for the Auckland event.

I don’t know, this lineup seems pretty mediocre. What do you think?

natalie imbruglia want single cover

Ramsay Street’s second most famous daughter has a rather spiffing comeback single, ‘Want‘. Yep – Natalie Imbruglia looks set to emerge from the pop wilderness with a bang if this edgy new track is anything to go by – let’s hope her fourth studio album ‘Come To Life’ delivers more of the same. WAPS is loving ‘Want’’s urgent sound, which is quite a departure from the adult-contemporary sound of her last major hit, 2005’s ‘Shiver’.

‘Want’ is released in the UK on 28th September, followed by ‘Come To Life’ on October 5th. Welcome back, Natalie!

Do you think the “Torn” singer will have success with this new single??

Lady Gaga was on an Brisbane morning radio show answering questions, yet again, about her genitalia.

In typical Gaga fashion, she handled the situation with poise and confidence.

When asked, “where are we at the tiny penis issue right now, Lady Gaga?” She responded, “My beautiful vagina is very offended. I’m not offended — my vagina is offended.”

When asked if she was embarrassed by the rumors, she went on to say, “I’ve sold four million records in six months. I’m not embarrassed about anything.”

Touché! Point well made, Gaga.

Now can we put these silly rumors to rest once and for all?

lady gaga on stage because shes interesting 2

Radio DJs on The Matt and Jo Show in Melbourne, Australia just had to mention the incident where Gaga’s skirt flew up at a show, revealing an odd bump in her costume, and the “Poker Face” singer was less than amused.

“You know what, it’s just too lowbrow for me to even discuss,” she replied when asked about the incident. After the DJs pressed her to clarify that she had ever acknowledge it, she sighed through a displeased explanation.

“I’ve made fun of it it before, to even talk about it is just ridiculous,” she added. “I’m an accomplished musician and I’d much rather talk about my fans and my music than a silly rumor.”
