Beyonce’s Booty Gets Her a Fly Named After Her

A newly discovered horse fly in Australia was so “bootylicious” with its golden-haired bottom, that researcher, Bryan Lessard, chose to name the insect after Beyoncé.

Lessard says he wanted to pay respect to the insect’s beauty by naming it Scaptia (Plinthina) beyonceae. Lessard said Beyoncé would be “in the nature history books forever” and that the fly now bearing her name is “pretty bootylicious” with its golden backside.

The fly was captured in 1981, the same year Beyonce was born.

The description of the fly was earlier published in the Australian Journal of Entomology, but the results were announced last week.

Lessard says he hasn’t heard from Beyoncé, but he is a fan and hopes she will take his scientific gesture as a compliment. He also said the name was picked to help draw attention to the importance of his field and the need for more researchers to catalog and study insects.

Bieber fever is out of control!

Australian police were forced to cancel Justin Bieber’s concert at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Sydney’s Circular Quay after several young fans were injured while waiting overnight for the concert to begin, ABC News Australia reports.

Over 4,000 Justin Bieber fans started to camp out on Sunday evening to see Justin’s performance on the Australian morning show, Sunrise, on Monday morning. When rumors spread that Justin had arrived early around 2am, the crowd went crazy and several people were crushed and trampled, mostly teenage girls.

The police tried to control the crowd, as you can see in this video from TMZ.

Justin Bieber was disappointed that his performance had to be canceled and later tweeted, “I love my fans….and I am just as disappointed as everyone else with the news from this morning. I want to sing for my fans.”

Has Bieber fever gone too far?

Taylor Swift Takes A Break From The Spotlight

In an effort to avoid overexposure, Scott Borchetta, head of Taylor Swift’s record label, announced that Swift will be taking a break from the spotlight.

“She was on an amazing writing spree through December and January, and we were able to go in and cut all those things,” Borchetta says. “If she writes something great between now and July, it will go on the record. She’s been extraordinarily prolific the last six months.”

After winning the Country Music Award for Entertainer of the Year and the youngest artist in history to win a Grammy for Album of The Year, with over 10 million albums sold and 23 songs in the top 40 on the charts, I’d say Swift is already overexposed. The negative reaction to Swift’s Grammy win was probably the deciding factor to keep Swift out of the spotlight.

How long will Swift be laying low? Her third album is due out by the end of the year and her first single is expected to make its way to radio sometime in September, so if you want to catch a glimpse of Swift, you’ll have to track her down on her world tour.

Do you thank Taylor Swift is overexposed?

Britney Spears Devastated By Fans Walking Out Reports

Britney Spears is “extremely upset” by false reports fans walked out of her concert in Australia on Friday. Rumors surfaced that several members of the audience walked out of Burswood Dome in Perth during the first of Spears’ 14 gigs Down Under, with some blasting the star for lip-synching, and branding her performance “boring”.

However according to Paul Dainty, the organizer of Spears’ Australian Circus tour, the reports are false and have left the Toxic hit-maker devastated.

He tells The Australian newspaper, “Britney is aware of all this and she’s extremely upset by it. She’s a human being. I’m embarrassed, with such a big international entourage here with Britney, to be part of the Australian media when I see that kind of totally inaccurate reporting.”

Spears’ manager Adam Leber has also come to her defense, taking to her official Twitter.com page to write, “It’s unfortunate that one journalist in Perth didn’t enjoy the show last night. Fortunately the other 18,272 fans in attendance did.”

The furor came after Virginia Judge, the New South Wales Minister for Fair Trading, urged ticket agencies to warn fans about touring stars who don’t sing live. Taking aim at Spears in particular, Judge said, “Live means live. If you are spending up to $200, I think you deserve better than a film clip. The NSW Government would be happy to look at options, such as a disclaimer on a ticket which would warn consumers a performance is pre-recorded.”

Dainty maintains it is common knowledge that Spears plays pre-recorded vocals during her shows, insisting she has never tried to hide the fact: “It’s been all over the internet for nine months. This show is about an incredible spectacle, which it is.”

Britney Spear’s lip-synced shows are causing controversy in Australia – one of the country’s leading politicians is urging ticket agencies to warn fans when artists plan to mime.

Spears is currently performing Down Under as part of her Circus world tour, but critics have slammed the star for failing to sing live during the shows.

Now the New South Wales Minister for Fair Trading, Virginia Judge, has waded into the debate – insisting ticket agencies should publish a disclaimer to stop gig-goers feeling cheated when an artist fails to provide any live vocals.

Judge has branded Spears’ shows a “Mickey Mouse performance”, adding: “Let’s be clear – live means live. If you are spending up to $200, I think you deserve better than a film clip. The NSW Government would be happy to look at options, such as a disclaimer on a ticket which would warn consumers a performance is pre-recorded.”
