The family of late soul singer Amy Winehouse said on Wednesday it was “taking advice” after learning that the coroner at the inquest into her death had resigned because she was not qualified to practice in Britain.

According to British media, Suzanne Greenaway was appointed to her post by her husband, who was now being investigated by the Office for Judicial Complaints.

In a statement released to the media, Winehouse’s family said: “The Winehouse family is taking advice on the implications of this and will decide if any further discussion with the authorities is needed.”

The inquest into Winehouse’s death on July 23 last year found that she had more than five times the legal driving limit of alcohol in her blood when she died in her north London home.

Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch has announced a tribute concert for the singer who passed away in 2011, with proceeds benefitting the Amy Winehouse Foundation. Lily Allen and Jessie J are reportedly in talks to perform at the memorial concert.

Mitch Winehouse started the foundation in Amy’s name after the young star died at age 27 last July.

“The Amy Winehouse Foundation is very excited to be planning a benefit concert in tribute to Amy later this year,” Mitch said to the UK’s Press Association. “We will be talking to a variety of people in the coming months and will announce those performing as soon as we can.”

Both Jessie J and Lily Allen have previously expressed their adoration for the late star and shown interest in paying tribute to her. During her tribute to Winehouse at the MTV Europe Music Awards, Jessie J told the audience, “I never got to thank Amy for breaking boundaries as I truly believe without her I wouldn’t be standing here today. She set a new standard for British female artists.”

The plan is for the show to be an intimate performance, including not only singers she influenced but artists that Amy Winehouse admired as well.

Michael Bublé’s success with his recently released Christmas album has given him the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart for a second week thanks to sales of 293,000. During a cycle when most of the top 20 saw steep double-digit sales dips, Bublé’s holiday musical contribution was up 29 percent as it passed the 1 million mark.

With some former top 10 dwellers falling out of the upper echelon (Coldplay, Daughtry), a flood of Christmas albums creeps up the ranks, including “America’s Got Talent” winner Jackie Evancho’s Heavenly Christmas (up 17 spots to #15, 37,000), Bocelli’s My Christmas (up 33 to #17, 35,000) and perennial faves Mannheim Steamroller’s Christmas Symphony (up 51 to #17, 35,00).

Bublé keeps his winning streak going on the iTunes albums chart, holding on to the #1 spot, with Drake, Adele, Rihanna, Coldplay and Bieber right behind. Rounding out the top 10 are Nickelback, the Killers’ (RED) Christmas charity EP, She & Him’s A Very She & Him Christmas and the “Glee” cast’s Glee: The Music, the Christmas Album, Vol. 2.

Bublé may lose his spot for a bit next week when he faces competition from the Black Keys’ El Camino, as well as new albums from the Roots, Robin Thicke, T-Pain and a posthumous collection from Amy Winehouse .

Well-loved songstress Adele made another record on Monday, when the Official Charts Company (OCC) confirmed that her second album “21″ had become the highest selling album in Britain of this century.

The record passed sales of 3.4 million copies, surpassing the late Amy Winehouse’s 2006 LP “Back To Black” which sold 3.3 million.

According to the OCC, the album has never left the British top 10 since its release in January, and on Sunday it rose from 9th to 5th in it’s 45th week on the charts, a jump mostly likely due to her 6 recent Grammy nominations.

Adele’s great success in her native Britain is met in the US, where 21 passed the four-million copy mark in October.

The posthumous album from late singer Amy Winehouse, entitled, “Lioness: Hidden Treasures” was on it’s way to be on top of the British album charts by the end of the week, the Official Charts Company said on Tuesday.

The album is made up of a collection of 12 tracks recorded from as early as 2002 but not used on either of Winehouse’s studio albums and is receiving mixed reviews.

In a brief statement, the OCC said the album had already sold nearly 70,000 copies.

Winehouse’s father Mitch, writing on Twitter, claimed the number was 140,000, although it was not clear whether that was projected sales for the whole week or reflected more accurate, current information.

“Just been told. Amy at number 1. 140,000 sold = £140,000 to foundation in one day. Well done baby,” he tweeted. “My heart is sad but bursting with pride. Mitch”

Winehouse died in July aged 27, ending a promising career that often was riddled with a highly publicized battle with drug addiction.

Her father Mitch has set up a charity in her name set to assist children and young adults suffering ill health and addiction, and for every copy of the album sold, one pound goes to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

BacktoBlack

The renewed interest in Amy Winehouse‘s music after her death has brought her Grammy-winning album ‘Back to Black’ back to the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The news isn’t surprising, since Winehouse’s albums shot to the top of the iTunes charts in several countries immediately after her passing. Billboard reports that ‘Back to Black’ holds down the No. 9 spot on the top 200 albums chart, with 37,000 units sold. The previous week, it had sold just 1,000 copies.

Winehouse’s debut, ‘Frank,’ also returns to the chart at No. 57. That record was less popular in the U.S. but was a critical favorite and produced a handful of the selections on our list of the Top 10 Amy Winehouse Songs. The digital EP ‘Back to Black: B-Sides’ enters the chart for the first time at No. 152.

The singer’s biggest U.S. hit, ‘Rehab,’ sold 38,000 downloads last week to enter the Digital Songs chart at No. 46. The magazine says that in the few days since her death, Winehouse’s music sold a total of 111,000 downloads.

Adele’s ’21,’ by the way, returns to the No. 1 spot on the album chart for the 11th week, dethroning Blake Shelton‘s ‘Red River Blue.’

Troubled, Grammy-winning singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her North London home, Sky News is reporting. The Daily Mail reports that police have confirmed the passing.

In a statement, the London Metropolitan Police said, “Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.”

A suspected drug overdose took the life of the singer, Nick Buckley of the Sunday Mirror tweeted.

She’s battled drug addiction for years, having most recently checked back into rehabilitation in May.

Winehouse entered treatment in late 2007 for drug problems, including admitted heroin use.

Earlier in the day, Tim Gatt of Sky News tweeted a statement from her manager saying that she was canceling upcoming performances, writing, “Amy Winehouse is withdrawing from all scheduled performances. Everyone involved wishes to do everything they can to help her return to her best and she will be given as long as it takes for this to happen.”

She performed in a surprise appearance at the iTunes Festival on July 20th.

While attending a movie premiere in London, Amy Winehouse shared some new details about her long awaited new album.

“The album will be six months at the most,” she said.

The Grammy award-winner added that it will be similar to her hit record Back To Black, explaining: “It’s going to be very much the same as my second album, where there’s a lot of jukebox stuff and the songs that are… just jukebox, really.”

While Winehouse’s previous attempts at a live comeback have been slated as ropey at best, the plucky star explained she liked to freestyle on stage.

“I tend to write everything first,” she said. “The live show is pretty much whatever it is for me.”

And on the prospect of a return to form and proving herself again, Amy added: “I just can’t wait to have some new songs on stage, really.”
