Paula Abdul, Jessica Simpson, or Cheryl Cole To Judge X-Factor?

According to statements from Simon Cowell in the new issue of People magazine, it looks like he’s narrowed down his choices for who he wants to judge the X-Factor.
“Paula Abdul. She has good taste in music, though you didn’t always see that on TV. I also like Jessica Simpson. She knows what she’s talking about; she’s very into the mentoring side and is underrated as a singer. I think Cheryl Cole’s personality would translate in America…”
And as for Mariah Carey:
“After Mariah Carey has her babies, there might be a role for her during the live shows,” he added.

New Details On Kelly Clarkson’s Upcoming Album

Songwriter Claude Kelly, who worked with Kelly Clarkson on ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’, has teamed up with original American Idol and is dishing new details on Clarkson’s upcoming album release in September.
“I will say that I’d be willing to bet that the reason it was pushed back was not for anything as horrible or earth-shattering as people think — it’s probably [just] a better setup.”
Describing the current pop scene as “congested,” Claude Kelly thinks that a slightly delayed release will work in Clarkson’s favor. “They want to make sure that the arena is clean for Kelly Clarkson’s return, ’cause when she comes back, she always comes back pretty big,” he said. “They want to make sure when her first single comes out, there’s nothing out there that’s competing with it. I don’t know for sure, but Kelly always does it big, so when it comes out, the fans will be happy and she’ll sing her butt off and it’ll be good times.”
“The songs I did write for her were in true Kelly Clarkson form, singer records that showcase her voice, but also show her edge and her attitude and her personality,” he explained. “[It's] always up-tempo for me when it comes to Kelly. I like to hear her in kick-butt mode. She has an edge to her voice that you want to hear her sing high and get in your face.”

American Idol Ratings Down From Last Year ……Duh

A newly revamped “American Idol” dominated U.S. television on its first outing but lost millions of viewers despite the addition of celebrity judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.
Around 26.1 million Americans tuned in for the 10th season premiere of the singing contest, which is down 13 percent on last year’s opening show when nearly 30 million watched, according to Nielsen ratings data on Thursday.
The numbers still crushed all other programing on Wednesday night. But after weeks of hype and curiosity over what producers called “a new era,” the numbers boded ill for hopes of restoring sparkle to the aging show and reversing a four years ratings slide.
Television critics were mostly unimpressed with their first glimpse of Lopez and Aerosmith front man Tyler as they weeded out good singers from the thousands of early auditions — without the caustic presence of British judge Simon Cowell.
Cowell, the contest’s biggest star, quit in May to launch his own talent show on Fox later in 2011.
In a column headlined “The end of ‘American Idol’ (for real this time),” Newsweek blogger Ramin Setoodeh wrote; “The entire franchise has gone to the land of Stepford, where everybody is so nice and sweet and happy and zippy, you feel a cavity coming on.”
We all knew the ratings would go down after Simon left! Hello!

Jennifer Lopez’s much talked about new single is finally out. Ryan Seacrest premiered the final version of the song following an early leak online. The song was produced by RedOne and features rapper Pitbull. ‘On The Floor’ reminds me a lot of Edward Maya’s ‘Stereo Love’ when I first listen to it. Not the sound that I was expecting from Lopez but I love Maya’s song, so it could grow on me.

American Idol Winner Lee DeWyze to Release Debut Album Live It Up Nov 16

Last May, Lee DeWyze thrilled millions of fans when he was crowned the Season 9 winner of American Idol. Now the wait is over for original music from this self-taught singer, songwriter, and guitarist, who will release his major-label debut album, Live It Up, on November 16 on 19 Recordings/RCA Records. Lee’s first single “Live It Up” will debut ‘On Air with Ryan Seacrest’ October 13.
“Putting out an album on a major label is truly a dream come true,” says 24-year-old DeWyze, a native of Mount Prospect, IL, who had built up a sizeable following on the Chicago club scene when he first auditioned for Idol in June 2009 at the urging of his bandmates. He was the only male contestant never to land in the competition’s bottom three contestants. “I’m excited for all the people who supported me throughout Idol to hear what I can do with my own songs. The album shows a whole different side of me and I’m so proud of it.”
Working with top-notch collaborators such as Toby Gad, John Shanks, and Espionage, to name a few, DeWyze co-wrote most of the songs on Live It Up, which he recorded while on the road over the summer with the American Idols Live Tour. “To see my name listed in the credits on each song was really important to me because I’m a songwriter,” DeWyze says, “I also loved working with such talented writers. They all brought so much to the table and really helped me flesh out my sound.”
Live It Up is an engaging blend of rootsy pop, rock and folk, anchored by DeWyze’s soulful, rough-edged voice and bright-sounding acoustic guitar. “I grew up listening to Simon & Garfunkel, The Mamas & the Papas, Cat Stevens, and Kris Kristofferson,” DeWyze says. “I love hard-edged vocals over pretty melodies — that’s what I’m about. I really admire guys like Dave Matthews and Ray LaMontagne, and to now be on the same record label as them — it just blows my mind.”
More details about Live It Up will be announced soon. For more about Lee, please visit www.leedewyzeofficial.com.
