According to Mannie Fresh, Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. music compilation is “pretty close” to being finished. Still no word on the release date.
“The cool thing about G.O.O.D. Music is it’s a bunch of great ideas and I’m one of those ideas,” he told MTV News on Thursday at the South by Southwest festival. “[Kanye's] trying to find the most talented producers, most talented artists, put ‘em all in a room and say, ‘Go for it. Y’all energy, like whatever is creative to y’all.’ ”
It’s still unclear whether Fresh has actually signed on with G.O.O.D. Music, but he has clearly been putting in a lot of work with the team, which includes Yeezy, Big Sean, Pusha T and producer Hit-Boy. “The cool thing is, in hip-hop history, when have we ever got along? It’s a cool thing that we’re sitting at the table, all of us get along on one accord trying to make something great — G.O.O.D. Music,” Fresh said.

After 23 consecutive weeks in the number 1 spot, Adele’s celebrated “21″ is bumped down to number 2 by Bruce Springsteen, who debuts at number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with his latest album “Wrecking Ball.” Having sold 196,000 sold in its first week (according to Nielsen SoundScan), this marks his tenth number 1 album.
Among all acts, Springsteen ties Elvis Presley for the third-most No. 1s in history. Only the Beatles (with 19) and Jay-Z (12) have more.
Adele’s “21″ slipped to No. 2 with a respectable 195,000 (down 21%) after 23 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1.

Bruce Springsteen scored his ninth UK number one album on Sunday with “Wrecking Ball,” the latest album from the legendary rock singer.

There was no change at the top of the UK singles chart, the Official Charts Company said.

John Mayer Cancels Tour Due to Throat Problems
March 9, 2012 by iMusicDaily

John Mayer has revealed that his throat condition has remained, and announced on his Tumblr blog on Friday (Mar. 9), “I have no choice but to take an indefinite break from live performing.” Mayer’s label, Columbia Records, released a statement on Friday confirming the cancellations.
Mayer did confirm that “Born And Raised,” his fifth studio album, is still on track for a May 22 release through Columbia Records. However, the spring tour planned in support of the new full-length, which was set to kick off on April 9 in Bloomington, Ind., is no longer.
In the blog post, Mayer writes that he revisited his throat doctor earlier this week after “something didn’t feel/sound right” during a rehearsal on Tuesday. “I went in for a visit on Wednesday and a scope of my vocal cords revealed that the granuloma has grown back where it had mostly healed. This is bad news,” the singer-songwriter wrote.
Last September, Mayer was forced to postpone the fall 2011 release of “Born and Raised” and cancel a handful of tour dates after being diagnosed with granuloma. On Friday, Mayer wrote that this latest setback will require “another surgery and a very long chemically-imposed period of silence.”
Jonas Brothers To Release New Album

Popstars The Jonas Brothers are gearing up for a new album. This week, Kevin tweeted out some footage of Joe and Nick in the studio recording.
While there’s no certainty that the teased track will make their next studio release, the song certainly does blend the guys’ love for mixing genres, touching on soul, rock and disco.
Although the brothers have individually created albums, there hasn’t been a proper Jonas Brothers album since 2009, when they released Lines, Vines and Trying Times. The guys are well aware that the music scene is vastly different three years later.
“We pay attention to it, definitely,” Nick said. “That’s part of your job as an artist, too, is to be aware of what other people are doing. … We pay attention and have been paying attention just to see where we want to fall. But first we just want to write great songs, and as far as how it sounds, that’ll come second.”
There has yet to be a release date for the album, but the Jonas Brothers have teased that it may drop before the end of the year. The hashtag #JonasBrothers2012 attached to the studio video may be the best hint so far.
“We don’t know how long it’s going to take us to write this record,” Nick warned. “It may take a couple weeks, it may take months, it could take years, but we’re ready to go on that journey. It’s been a while and there has been a lot of growth as individuals and musically as well. We’ve all gone on our journeys musically. It’ll be interesting to see what comes of that.”

“Glad You Came” was recently covered on “Glee.”
Rumored Aaliyah Album In Production

One of Aaliyah’s producers on her last studio album, Jeffery “J.Dub” Walker, has tweeted that an album composed entirely of previously unreleased material is in the works. Walker’s tweet has since been taken down, but Soul Culture managed to take a screen grab before it was pulled.
“Just got great news today; the smash unreleased song called ‘Steady Ground’ I produced on #Aaliyah is gonna be on her upcoming album,” Walker’s tweet read.
Walker previously revealed to YouKnowIGotSoul.com that “Steady Ground” was intended to be included on Aaliyah but was left off due to technical problems with the recording. “It was really the first single after ‘Rock the Boat,’ but my engineer was mixing the record and somehow lost the vocals. So the vocals that you hear are really just the demo vocals,” Walker told the site. “The final vocals got erased, so yeah. So that’s why it didn’t make the album.”
A compilation album, I Care for You, was released in 2002. It featured some new material as well as many of Aaliyah’s biggest hits, including “Are You That Somebody,” “One in a Million” and “Try Again.”
According to Idolator, Aaliyah’s brother, Rashad Haughton, tweeted Tuesday (March 6) that “no official album [is] being released and supported by the Haughton family,” but he did not deny that her label and producers were working on the project.
