Before Beyoncé released the deluxe edition of her third solo studio album I Am…Sasha Fierce, one of the songs had already been written, recorded, and performed on tour by another artist. Jon McLaughlin reportedly recorded ‘Smack Into You’ for his second studio album Ok Now, but it didn’t make it onto the final cut of his album even though he had been on the road performing on his summer and fall tours.

According to Jon’s official website, “”[The song] is about falling head over heels in love, a combination of The Police’s ‘Every Breath You Take’ and U2′s ‘With or Without You’ melding acoustic guitar and McLaughlin’s piano to create a passionate undertow.”

‘Smack Into You’ was written and produced by Tricky Stewart and The-Dream.

The left over single was then given to Beyoncé and the name was changed to ‘Smash Into You.’

Check out this mash-up of both versions. Jon and Beyoncé should release this as a duet!

With all of the buzz about Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Already Gone’ sounding similar to Beyoncé’s ‘Halo,’ Clarkson has reworked the song and come up with a version that we’re loving a lot more than the original.

Check out Kelly’s session with her music director that aired on Vh1′s Get Schooled.

As we reported yesterday, Carrie Underwood’s newest single ‘Cowboy Casanova’ is a rip off of upcoming country artist Brittany McDonald’s song ‘Bang.’

Here’s the cover for Underwood’s new single. It’s hard to appreciate it like all of Carrie’s other covers knowing that her writers stole the song from someone else. Give credit where credit is due.

Could Carrie Underwood’s new single be a rip off of up and coming country artist Brittany McDonald? According to CrazedHits.com, that may be the case.

Take a listen to McDonald’s song ‘Bang’ and then compare it to Underwood’s ‘Cowboy Casanova.’

Hard to believe that this could be a case of coincidence, especially after learning that Brittany McDonald met with one of the co-writers of the Carrie Underwood single last December. The writer heard McDonald’s song ‘Bang’ and loved it.

You decide for yourself!

Note to new artists: Be careful who you share your songs with.

Clarkson Says She Didn’t Copy Beyoncé

By now we’ve all heard the similarities between Kelly Clarkson’s latest single ‘Already Gone’ and Beyoncé’s ‘Halo’, but which song actually came first? And, as for the similarities, it looks like all fingers are pointing to songwriter/producer Ryan Tedder of One Republic.

Clarkson is speaking out and says, “Ryan and I met each other at the record label, before he was working with anyone else. He’s from Oklahoma, I’m from Texas; we got along really well and had some of the same influences. We wrote about six songs together, four or five of them made the album. It was all fine and dandy. I’d never heard of a song called Halo. Her album came out when my album was already being printed. No one’s gonna be sittin’ at home, thinkin’ ‘Man, Ryan Tedder gave Beyonce and Kelly the same track to write to.’ No, they’re just gonna be sayin I ripped someone off. I called Ryan and said ‘I don’t understand. Why would you do that?’”

Clarkson claims she did not want her label to release ‘Already Gone’ as a single, but she has no say in what they choose to do.

According to one rumor, Beyoncé heard Clarkson’s demo of ‘Already Gone’ and demanded that Ryan Tedder produce a similar song for her and release it immediately before Kelly could release her song.

Tisk Tisk…

No Way! Now Kelly’s copied Miley Cyrus! Listen to Kelly’s ‘If I Can’t Have You’ and Miley’s ‘Fly On The Wall’. We’ve never seen someone copy so many other singer’s songs on one album. What is going on here?! Pay close attention to the choruses in both songs…

Studio recording of The Axis of Awesome’s “4 Chords”. The song that proves that all you need to be a pop star is four simple chords.

The audio is accompanied with a slide show of the original artists.

Different recordings of “4 Chords” will vary as the band continually updates the song with the latest hits that use the structure.

Pretty interesting, right?

SOUNDS LIKE…JUSTIN & CIARA VS. CHRISTINA MILIAN

Ciara teamed up with Justin Timberlake for her latest single ‘Love & Sex & Magic’ and the official music video debuted online today. Ciara’s clearly channeling her inner Janet Jackson and the video is definitely hot. But, we can’t help but think of Christina Milian’s ‘Whatever You Want’.

We suggest listening to the chorus of ‘Love & Sex & Magic’ first and then jump to the chorus of ‘Whatever You Want’…it could be the same song…

SOUNDS LIKE…KELLY VS. KELLY

The first time I heard Kelly Clarkson’s new hit single ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’, I thought to myself, “I swear I’ve heard this before.” Oh, that’s right…it DOES sound familiar! It’s just like ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’, the first hit single off of Kelly’s second album Breakaway. The intro is exactly the same! I guess they thought if it worked for ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ then it would work for ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’. But what happened to originality and introducing something new to the industry?

We suggest you take a listen and hear for yourself…
