Lionel Richie will headline Billboard’s annual showcase at South by Southwest’s Music Festival on March 14 at Austin’s ACL Live. The showcase will focus on Richie’s 44 years of time spent making hits in the business, and there are rumors that there will be some surprise guests.
Joining Richie will be a mix of the most talked about acts visiting Austin this year, including indie favorites Poliça, Wallpaper., rockers Vintage Trouble and R&B hit maker The-Dream.
Of the festival, Richie said, “It’s so great to be a part of a festival that for two decades has helped launch the careers of some important new artists and celebrates iconic artists who have had a lasting impact on the musical landscape. I’m looking forward to checking out some of the new bands that I’ve been reading about for the last several months and making some new friends who share my passion for music.”
Richie, whose 10th album “Tuskegee” is scheduled for release on March 26, has created an unforgettable body of work both as a solo artist and as frontman of pioneering ’70s soul/funk band the Commodores. “All Night Long (All Night),” “Say You, Say Me,” “Hello,” and “We Are the World” are just a few of the 22 top 10 hits he’s had on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
“I will be joined by a surprise guest who will help me unveil music from ‘Tuskegee,” Richie said of Billboard’s showcase in Austin. “I can’t think of a better way to launch this album than by sharing the new music at South By Southwest.”
Jonas Brothers To Release New Album

Popstars The Jonas Brothers are gearing up for a new album. This week, Kevin tweeted out some footage of Joe and Nick in the studio recording.
While there’s no certainty that the teased track will make their next studio release, the song certainly does blend the guys’ love for mixing genres, touching on soul, rock and disco.
Although the brothers have individually created albums, there hasn’t been a proper Jonas Brothers album since 2009, when they released Lines, Vines and Trying Times. The guys are well aware that the music scene is vastly different three years later.
“We pay attention to it, definitely,” Nick said. “That’s part of your job as an artist, too, is to be aware of what other people are doing. … We pay attention and have been paying attention just to see where we want to fall. But first we just want to write great songs, and as far as how it sounds, that’ll come second.”
There has yet to be a release date for the album, but the Jonas Brothers have teased that it may drop before the end of the year. The hashtag #JonasBrothers2012 attached to the studio video may be the best hint so far.
“We don’t know how long it’s going to take us to write this record,” Nick warned. “It may take a couple weeks, it may take months, it could take years, but we’re ready to go on that journey. It’s been a while and there has been a lot of growth as individuals and musically as well. We’ve all gone on our journeys musically. It’ll be interesting to see what comes of that.”

Over a decade after Brandy and Monica came together to bring us the hit song “The Boy Is Mine”, the two R&B artists have joined forces again with “It All Belongs To Me” which showcases just how amazing these two musicians are.
The music video begins with Brandy and Monica looking glamorous and showering their current beaus with nice watches and new cars. But they soon get fed up with their men and start taking all of it away.
“Have a fit, slam the door, but leave them bags on the floor, that belongs to me,” they sing. “Those clothes, those cards, those rings, that Macbook, that belongs to me. Log off your Facebook, it all belongs to me”
The video directed by Chris Robinson reflects that women too can be the powerful money makers in the relationship. Just as easily as they give it, they can take it all away. Watch the premiere of “It All Belongs To Me” below!

No New Album for Outkast, According to Andre 3000

In a new interview, Andre 3000 of the Atlanta hip-hop duo OutKast, claims that there is no plan for new music from him and the other half of Outkast, Big Boi.
“There’s been a lot of talk on the Internet about an OutKast album and I have to say that as of now, there are no plans for another OutKast album,” the rapper tells GQ. The duo’s last proper album was 2006′s “Idlewild.”
“There’s a lot of music on the horizon,” the rapper continues. “I’ve been living off the excitement of new artists. I’ve been privileged to have these new artists kind of reach out and grab back and say, ‘Hey, Andre, we want you on this song.’ So I’ve been taking those calls and for the last two years, I’ve been doing collaborations. So these new artists have kind of been keeping me alive. I’ve just really been feeding off of that and this year I think I’m planning to do a solo project. I don’t know when it will come out, but hopefully it’ll come out this year. As far as OutKast, I really don’t know if or when that will happen.”

Rachel Crow, one of the most infamous American “X Factor” finalists, has bounced back in a major way. The young singer has not only landed a record deal, but she’s also prepping her TV series debut.
Though she went out in fifth place on “Factor,” Crow has become the sixth top finisher from the show to land a recording contract, following in the footsteps of $5 million winner Melanie Amaro, Chris Rene, Astro, Marcus Canty and runner-up Josh Krajcik.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Crow has signed a talent deal with Nickelodeon that will have her starring in her own as-yet-unnamed musical comedy series pilot. She’s also signed a recording deal with Columbia Records. “It’s been amazing,” she told the Reporter about her post “Factor” ride. “A couple days after the elimination I just found myself sitting home asking myself, ‘What am I going to do now?’ And I never would’ve thought that this is what I was going do now. So, it’s pretty amazing. I’m very thankful and I feel very blessed to have all this.”
In addition to the Nickelodeon pilot, Crow has also been given a recurring role on the network’s new series, “Fred: The Show,” which stars Lucas Cruikshank. She’s already begun filming scenes as the character Starr, described as “an eccentric girl who acts and sings and, as her name indicates, wants to be famous.” She’s slated to appear in at least five episodes that will air in the spring.
Crow plans to begin recording her debut album later this year.
Rihanna and Chris Brown Reunite for Birthday Cake Remix

On Monday night, Chris Brown and Rihanna dropped the remix to Ri’s “Birthday Cake,” from her Talk That Talk album. The duo also dropped a remix of Brown’s Fortune track “Turn Up the Music,” all on Rihanna’s 24th birthday.
The producers behind the “Cake” track, Da Internz, promised that the remix would “shock,” and they didn’t lie. Considering that it was just three years ago that Brown assaulted Rihanna over Grammy weekend, the two coming together for the sexy duet brings a lot of speculation and talk from critics and fans.
As a role model, we are shocked Rihanna would do this and question what message she sends to fans with these releases. How do you guys feel about it?
