Video website Funny or Die recently teamed up with Alaskan singer/songwriter Jewel to prank the audience of a Santa Monica karaoke bar. Jewel was given a plain-Jane makeover as office worker Karen, and joined onstage by 5 actors posing as work colleagues.

Obviously, ‘Karen’ eventually does a Susan Boyle by pulling of two impressive renditions of signature Jewel songs ‘Who Will Save Your Soul‘ and ‘Foolish Games.‘

The video was posted Tuesday and was rapidly circulating online, with more than 160,000 views as of evening.

“I was a bit nervous to do this skit at first because I feared it would amount to little more than showing off some vocals, dressed as someone else,” Jewel said in an e-mail. “I was worried it wouldn’t be self-effacing enough.”

For the video, created by Funny or Die writer-director Eric Appel, Jewel was given a prosthetic nose, wig and glasses, and butt padding. Only after performing as Karen did Jewel return to the stage of the karaoke joint, the Gas Lite, as herself.

Watch for yourself to see what happens when the real Jewel makes an appearance! Pretty entertaining stuff!

Lady Gaga took over Rockefeller Plaza on a hot and humid New York Friday to perform on “The Today Show” for over 20,000 people!

The singer started with the classic Gershwin ballad ‘Someone to Watch Over Me,’ and then transitioned into her live performance of her mega-hit ‘Bad Romance.’

Before continuing the performance, the hosts of ‘Today’ talked to Gaga about the realities of fame and her new music.

“There are certainly things that are difficult to deal with,” Gaga said. “But the kind of fame that I cherish is the relationship I have with my fans.”

Lady Gaga also performed a brand new song ‘You and I,’ from her upcoming record. The singer sat alone at her piano to play the soulful rock ballad and climbed atop it for the finale of the song.

After a break, Gaga returned to the stage to sing ‘Alejandro,’ and then she closed her set with a performance of ‘Teeth.’

Australian singer / songwriter Sia – who recently co-wrote four songs on Christina Aguilera’s new album ‘Bionic’ – performed at London’s Roundhouse earlier this year, and you can now check out some of the videos that have just been released.

‘Cloud’ and ‘Clap Your Hands” are taken from her excellent new album ‘We Are Born‘, which is out on 27th September.

After its release last month, We Are Born debuted at #2 in Australia, and reached the top forty of the Billboard 200.

Last night at the 2010 BET Awards, Kanye West made his first televised performance since the MTV VMA’s fiasco with Taylor Swift. He performed his new single “Power”.

During the live performance Kanye lit up the stage on top of a giant erupting volcano, with a backdrop of majestic mountain peaks behind him.

Not sure what message Kanye was trying to convey with his performance….it was a little too egotistical for our taste!

After taking time off to have a baby, Keyshia Cole returned to the stage at the 2010 BET Awards last night joining rappers B.o.B. and Eminem for a massive performance of B.o.B.’s hit single “Airplanes”.

Following the performance of “Airplanes” Keyshia Cole and B.o.B. left the stage so Eminem could perform his #1 Hit, “Not Afraid.”
