Country singing sensation Keith Urban had a successful throat surgery this past week to remove a polyp from his vocal cord and is reportedly doing fine, according to the singer’s spokesman.

Urban’s spokesman Paul Freundlich said that the singer had the procedure last Tuesday, and he will not be able to speak or sing for about three weeks, and is now recovering at an undisclosed location.

The day before the procedure, Urban posted a video on his website thanking his fans for their support.

He expressed, “I want to thank you for sending such good wishes for my upcoming surgery. I can’t express enough my gratitude to you guys; it feels like family.”

The polyp developed during his recent “Get Closer World Tour 2011,” and in last Monday’s video Urban took note of the fans who had turned out to see him perform during what he called his “crazy great phenomenal year.”

Urban is not the only singer to encounter problems with his vocal cords. In the past month, British pop singer Adele had similar surgery as did Kiss frontman Paul Stanley.

Demi Lovato goes back on tour, one year after breakdown

Demi Lovato sad

Teen star Demi Lovato is going back out on the road, a year after entering treatment for bulimia and other emotional problems.

Lovato, 19, will start a 10-city U.S. tour in November to celebrate the success of her latest album “Unbroken” and its debut single “Skyscraper”, her spokesman said on Friday.

Lovato, the former star of Disney Channel’s “Sonny with a Chance”, suffered an emotional breakdown in November 2010 when she pulled out of a concert tour with the Jonas Brothers and entered a three month treatment program.

She has since spoken openly about her 10 year battle with eating disorders and said she started cutting herself at the age of 11.

Lovato has since quit the TV series that made her one of Disney Channel’s biggest international teen stars, saying she wanted to focus on her music career.

Lovato has performed recently in New York and Los Angeles to promote the September release of “Unbroken”. The new mini-tour will start in Detroit on November 16 and end in Chicago on December 3.

Evanescence comes together for new album

evanescence new album

On their first album in five years, the self-titled “Evanescence,” Grammy-winning gothic rock band Evanescence finally sounds like the band it has always wanted to be — tight, together and mature.

On October 11, Evanescence releases the 12-track collection produced by Nick Raskulinecz, known for his work with Alice in Chains and Foo Fighters. Frontwoman Amy Lee told Reuters the new record is more collaborative than the band’s previous two.

“We know how to work together and play off each other’s strengths and that is different from our other albums,” Lee told Reuters. “It’s cool because we do have some life experiences together and there isn’t a new member. It feels like a family reunion.”

Evanescence burst onto the rock scene with their 2003 smash hit “Fallen,” which featured the band’s breakthrough single, “Bring Me to Life,” followed by the popular “My Immortal” and “Going Under,” about the end of a bad relationship. The multi-platinum album earned the band a Best New Artist Grammy nomination, and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

Shortly thereafter, the five-member band underwent major changes when co-founder, guitarist and songwriter Ben Moody abruptly left amid creative differences. John LeCompt and Rocky Gray also later went their own ways.

Terry Balsamo replaced Moody and has been the band’s lead guitarist and co-songwriter with Lee. Drummer Will Hunt and guitarists Troy McLawhorn and Tim McCord now round out the group, which has had the same lineup since 2007.

Since Evanescence’s last album, 2006′s multi-platinum, “Open the Door,” the members have all matured. The 29 year-old Lee, for one, has married, spent time decorating the New York home she shares with her husband and taken up playing the harp.

The album’s name and cover art reinforce a new sense of cohesiveness. The cover, which features only a graphic of the band’s name, is the first that is not a solo shot of Lee.

“I’ve been in a totally different place. I’ve not been ‘the girl in the band,’ “said Lee. “I’ve been writing and living. It was awesome.”

Kelly Clarkson Premieres New Single ‘Mr. Know it All’

Kelly Clarkson Mr Know It All single cover art

After months of unauthorized song leakage, an official new single by original Idol Kelly Clarkson–from her upcoming, way-overdue fifth album, Stronger–has fiiiinallly premiered. Kelly in fact introduced the tune herself, via an adorably chatty Livestream broadcast on her website this Tuesday afternoon, just to let us all know it’s legit.

The long-awaited single, “Mr. Know It All,” traffics in the same “raining on boys’ parades” revenge fantasies that made Kelly’s “Never Again,” “Walk Away,” “Miss Independent,” and of course “Since U Been Gone” such fist-pumping, girl-powered fun. Sample lyrics, which earlier appeared on Kelly’s website scrawled in her own girlish hand, include: “Mr. Play Your Games/Only got yourself to blame/When you want me back again/But I ain’t fallin’ back again…Let’s be clear, baby/This is goodbye.”

Demi Lovato Unbroken Album Cover

Demi Lovato wasn’t kidding when she teased some star-studded collaborations for her comeback album Unbroken. On Tuesday, the Disney star revealed on her website that her upcoming set (due September 20) will include musical pairings with Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Jason Derülo, Dev and Iyaz.

While Lovato’s power-ballad lead single “Skyscraper” nabs a place toward the end of Unbroken, all of her studio team-ups appear at the beginning of the 15-song lineup. Hip-hop heavyweight partners Missy Elliott and Timbaland assist the songstress on “All Night Long,” while electro-pop singer Dev lends her voice to the Ryan Tedder-produced “Who’s That Boy?” Lovato continues the star power with Iyaz on “You’re My Only Shorty” and concludes the collabo party with Jason Derülo on “Together.”

Some of the other songs on the set include “Unbroken,” “Mistake,” “Give Your Heart a Break” and a Wizz Dumb remix of “Skyscraper.”

Lovato recently spoke to Ryan Seacrest about “All Night Long,” describing it as “one of the best experiences.”

“Missy Elliott got on one of the tracks, and it’s called ‘All Night Long.’ It was really fun!” she gushed.

Lovatics already know how the pop star’s collaboration with Timbaland came about. Back in January, the R&B hit-maker reached out to Demi via a YouTube video message, sharing a snippet of a song he had whipped up for her. Lovato was still checked into a treatment center for “emotional and physical issues” at the time.

Collabos aren’t the only thing fans have to look forward to as the singer/actress also announced her first two Unbroken concert dates, in New York City and Los Angeles, which take place just in time for the album’s release.

Here’s the Unbroken track list, according to the singer’s website:

1. “All Night Long” (featuring Missy Elliott and Timbaland)
2. “Who’s That Boy?” (featuring Dev)
3. “You’re My Only Shorty” (featuring Iyaz)
4. “Together” (featuring Jason Derülo)
5. “Lightweight”
6. “Unbroken”
7. “Fix a Heart”
8. “Hold Up”
9. “Mistake”
10. “Give Your Heart a Break”
11. “Skyscraper”
12. “In Real Life”
13. “My Love Is Like a Star”
14. “For the Love of a Daughter”
15. “Skyscraper” (Wizz Dumb Remix)
