Rumors started swirling yesterday online that Jessica Simpson is looking to work with pop star, Katy Perry, in an attempt to make herself relevant once again in music. After her failed stint in country music, Jessica is eager to reinvent herself.

A source claims:

“Jessica is busy working on new songs and a new direction and has a number of names she would love to collaborate with and Katy is at the top. She’s hoping she might be able to work with her in some way and maybe even perform with her.”

Janelle Monae has re-leased her single “Tightrope” as a remix and she partnered up with B.o.B. and Lupe Fiasco.

Janelle shows off her trademark hair and tuxedo in the music video but overall the video is pretty plain, and rather boring.

After taking time off to have a baby, Keyshia Cole returned to the stage at the 2010 BET Awards last night joining rappers B.o.B. and Eminem for a massive performance of B.o.B.’s hit single “Airplanes”.

Following the performance of “Airplanes” Keyshia Cole and B.o.B. left the stage so Eminem could perform his #1 Hit, “Not Afraid.”

Santana has announced that he is planning to release a new album in September, but, unlike his previous pop album, the new album will have Santana and friends covering classic rock songs.

Some of the artists set to be covered on the new LP include: Def Leppard (“Photograph”), Led Zeppelin (“Whole Lotta Love”), Deep Purple (“Smoke on the Water”), AC/DC (“Back In Black”), Jimi Hendrix (“Little Wing”), as well as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

Santana will be collaborating with artists such as Nas, Chris Daughtry, India Arie, Papa Roach, Chris Cornell, his “Smooth” partner Rob Thomas and many more.

Kelly Clarkson announced that she’s started recording on her fifth studio album and she’s got a big surprise for all of her fans.

Clarkson tweeted:

“Officially recorded the first song for my 5th album today! It’s so awesome and is a duet but I can’t tell you who quite yet ”

Sheryl Crow just released the first single “Summer Day” off of her upcoming album 100 Miles From Memphis and new details are emerging on what fans can expect from the rest of the album. Sheryl’s teaming up with Justin Timberlake to cover Terence Trent D’Arby’s “Sign Your Name”.

I played the song for him, and when it got to the chorus he’s like, ‘Who’s doing the backgrounds?’ I said ‘We haven’t done them yet,’ and he said, ‘I got it.’ It was all very organic and, man, perfect.
