After another big year from Taylor Swift, the country pop crooner discusses her new upcoming album, saying that her new songs are not about “moving on” and this fourth release will be a much different feel than her other three albums.
When asked what experiences stirred such an emotional album, Swift said, “I can’t tell you, because it’s a secret. It will be unveiled when it all comes out, because they all seem to have a theme to them, the records that we’ve put out so far, and this one is no different. It’s very different in what it’s about, but it’s no different in the fact that it has its own name.”
In speaking of Nicki Minaj, who she had a chance to perform with, Swift said, “I love her. One of my favorite moments of the tour was when she came out at the Staples Center and sang ‘Super Bass’ with me, which was, like, the coolest thing. It was like a dream come true, so it’s amazing to get to run into her and see her around, and I’m just such a fan.” When asked if Swift would ever collaborate with Minaj, she answered, “I mean, we’re not working on anything right now. But I would love to at some point. That would be amazing.”

Legendary pop singer Tony Bennett achieves his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with “Duets II,” making the 85-year old the oldest living act to reach No. 1. His all-star collaborations album bows in the top slot with 179,000 sold in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The 14-time Grammy Award winner’s previous high on the chart came in 2006, when his first “Duets” set debuted and peaked at No. 3 with 202,000. Bennett has been charting on Billboard’s charts since 1951 and notched his first hit on the Billboard 200 album tally six years later. Until today, the oldest living artist to top the Billboard 200 was Bob Dylan, whose “Together Through Life” debuted at No. 1 in 2009 when he was 67-years old.
Bennett’s “Duets II” features 17 pairings with such stars as Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood and the late Amy Winehouse. Last week, Bennett made news as the oldest living artist to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, when his duet with Winehouse, “Body and Soul,” debuted at No. 87.

Last week’s No. 1 album, Lady Antebellum’s “Own the Night,” falls to No. 2 with 125,000 (down 64%) while Adele’s “21″ also drops a spot to No. 3 with 117,000 (down 2%). Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter IV” descends 3-5 in its fourth week with 84,000 (down 28%).
The second-highest debut this week belongs to Demi Lovato’s third album, “Unbroken,” which debuts at No. 4 with 96,000 sold. Her last release, 2009′s “Here We Go Again,” opened at No. 1 with 108,000. Her first set, 2008′s “Don’t Forget,” debuted and peaked at No. 2 with 89,000.
Bennett and Lovato lead a total of six new arrivals in the top 10 this week. They are joined by rock act NeedToBreathe, Mindless Behavior, Gavin DeGraw and Pearl Jam.
Kanye West, Jay-Z Hold Onto Billboard Throne

After an impressive debut week on the Billboard 200 chart, Kanye West and Jay-Z’s collaborative effort Watch the Throne, will once again sit at the top. Adding to the 436,000 copies they sold last week, the hip-hop dynamos moved another 177, 000 this week, bringing their current total to 613, 000, according to Nielsen SoundScan figures.
While the Throne won’t get bragging rights to 2011′s biggest first-week seller on the Billboard charts (that honor still belongs to Lady Gaga), they successfully beat Coldplay’s Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends record for one-week sales on iTunes. And needless to say, they’ve claimed the #1 spot on iTunes once again.
Though the second week of Watch the Throne saw a 59 percent drop in sales, it was enough to hold off chart newcomers. None of the week’s debuts saw six-digit sales, and only two will crack the top 10: Life at Best from country’s Eli Young Band at #6 (35,000) and the latest “Twilight” soundtrack favorite Blue October, Any Man in America at #8 (27,000). Other notable newcomers include rockers Breaking Benjamin’s Shallow Bay: The Best of Breaking Benjamin at #22 (14,000) and actor Jeff Bridges’ self-titled record, which places at #25 (13,000).
The rest of this week’s top 10: Adele’s 21, (#2, 80,000), Now That’s What I Call Music 39 (#3, 63,000), Luke Bryan’s Tailgates & Tanlines (#4, 53,000), Jason Aldean’s My Kinda Party (#5, 37,000), Eric Church’s Chief (#7, 31,000), Beyoncé’s 4 (#9, 25,283) and Kidz Bop 20 (#10, 24,000).
As we inch closer to Sunday’s VMAs, fans are continuing to purchase records from this year’s nominees and performers, including Lady Gaga’s record-breaking Born This Way (#12), which saw a 9 percent increase with this week’s sales of 20,000, bringing it’s grand total to 1.7 milllion, and Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream (#15), up 7 percent after moving 17,000 more copies, which brings her album to 1.7 million as well.

Did anyone see this one coming?!
Rihanna has teamed up with Britney Spears to release a remix of ‘S&M.’ Rihanna’s asked her fans who they wanted to see her collaborate with and they said they wanted Brit Brit. And that’s exactly what they got. The remix was released today with Spears unmistakable voice.
The song sounds exactly the same. The only difference is Spear’s voice. Is anyone else confused by the timing of this release? Hasn’t Rihanna moved on to promoting her new single ‘California King Bed?’ Is this just an effort to make Spears more of a femme fatale?
