[video] Zac Poor – Silver Screens

Lets Just Call It Heartbreak

Our favorite artist of 2010 has just released a video for our favorite song off his debut EP Let’s Just Call It Heart Break! Could life get any better?

Zac Poor’s ‘Silver Screens’ is…well…a heart breaking tale of love lost. “Nothing’s like it seems, it’s all just make-believe.” Could somebody get me some tissue? I think we’ve all experienced this at some point in our lives and it sucks. Makes for a great song, though!

New Artist Spotlight: Marirose – I Want Love

marirose 560

In August of 2010, DJs Frankie J and DJ Alex of RnBSpot.com premiered a song called ‘I Want Love’ on their radio show and claimed it was an exclusive unreleased Rihanna track. The infectiously upbeat pop dance track quickly caught on and circulated online. To date, ‘I Want Love’ has been played over 201,000 times on YouTube alone, only 5 months after the song was originally leaked. Although the voice on the song sounds somewhat similar to Rihanna, to the surprise of many, it belongs to 15 year old emerging pop star Marirose.

‘I Want Love’ is an insanely addictive song that’s been stuck on repeat for days, despite the release of Britney Spears’ new single ‘Hold It Against Me’. Actually, play these two songs back to back and you’ve got yourself one hell of a dance party!

Not only does Marirose deliver an incredible vocal for someone who’s only 15, she also co-wrote ‘I Want Love’ with pop singer Kristinia DeBarge and producer Jordan Omley of The Jam.

Internet Celebrity and YouTube Star Michael Buckley featured ‘I Want Love’ this past week on his show What The Buck and viewers immediately took a liking to Marirose’s unforgettable vocal style. The word on Marirose as pop’s newest discovery is quickly spreading online and we’ve caught the fever!

Allow us to introduce 19yr old country music newcomer Alexa Rae. We were recently introduced to her debut single “Without Love” and it has made it’s way onto our daily playlist. “Without Love” is a beautifully crafted country ballad about what this life would be like without love. Alexa’s voice is sweet and tender on the track and we’re looking forward to hearing more from this newcomer who credits Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood among her influences.

Emerging new artist Natalia Kills performed her single ‘Mirrors’ at The Cherrytree House, home of Cherrytree Records. Incredible voice, beautiful melodies, but I’m just not buying the authenticity of her sexually provocative lyrics. Her shock value is boring to me, it’s like old news. See for yourself and let me know what you think.

15yr old Chiara Milliner is one triple threat to keep an eye on. This California native is hard at work perfecting every note and move as she emerges onto the pop music scene. And don’t let her sound fool you, she credits Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday as her two of her biggest influences.

Looks like the Fresh Prince passed on his music skills to his daughter, Willow. Willow Smith just released her first single called ‘Whip Your Hair’ and she’s giving it everything she’s got. The song reminds me of Lil Mama when she first came onto the scene with ‘Lip Gloss’. Willow is said to be a big fan of Rihanna, which can be seen from her hair and fashion styles and heard in her music.

Ellie Goulding 001

Already a success in her native England, 23 year-old UK singer and songwriter Ellie Goulding is scheduled to make her stateside debut with her US debut EP, An Introduction To Ellie Goulding out September 21 on Cherrytree / Interscope. Produced by Starsmith, Goulding’s full length release Lights shot to #1 on the UK chart in March 2010. The focus track, “Starry Eyed” has already received over 10 million views on YouTube.

Ellie has received numerous accolades from her motherland in the form of The Critics Choice Award at the 2010 Brit Awards & topped the BBC Sound of 2010 poll. Goulding’s debut CD has garnered much critical praise. NME calls Lights, “never less than stunning … it marks the emergence of a smart, sincere and talented new pop star,” and Q declares, “There is undeniable greatness afoot here.” After early support slots with “Little Boots” and “Passion Pit”, Ellie has just sold out her third UK headline tour. UK festival performances — Glastonbury, Festival, V Festival, Lovebox and T in the Park — earned her rave reviews.

Described as “electro-folk-acoustic-pop,” Ellie’s songs mix heartfelt emotion with other-worldly atmospherics, spinning electronica into dreamy warmth. If you see her live, you can expect to see her play guitar and drums.

Goulding, who will make her maiden voyage to the US in support of AN INTRODUCTION TO ELLIE GOULDING, is scheduled to perform in Los Angeles at The Roxy on September 28th and in New York on September 30th at Hiro Ballroom. In 2011 Ellie will return stateside to support a special version of her US full length release of LIGHTS.
