Luxury department store Barneys is teaming up with flamboyant pop singer Lady Gaga for a Christmas holiday campaign and window display called “Gaga’s Workshop.”

Barneys said on Monday it would turn over an entire floor of its flagship Madison Ave, New York, store to the pop singer’s interpretation of Santa’s Workshop, as well as dedicating its 2011 holiday window display to the Gaga theme.

Small limited edition gift items created by the “Born This Way” singer and Nicola Formichetti will also be available for sale, while signature artwork will be featured on Barneys holiday shopping bags and packaging.

Barneys New York chief executive Mark Lee said it would be the largest and most encompassing holiday theme ever mounted by the upscale fashion retailer.

“As a New York city landmark, we wanted to celebrate Lady Gaga as a fellow New Yorker and amazing talent,” Lee said in a statement.
Known as much for her bizarre outfits as her string of hit records and music awards, Lady Gaga, 25, was born Stefani Germanotta and raised in New York City.

Barneys said it would donate 25 percent of all the items featured in Gaga’s Workshop to a charity of the singer’s choice.

Bruno Mars has landed a second solo U.K. No. 1 single on Sunday with “Grenade,” recording the highest sales total for a January release in the market for 15 years.

Talk about a great accomplishment!

“Grenade” sold close to 150,000 units last week, according to the Official Charts Company, to record the highest weekly sale in the first month of the year since Babylon Zoo’s “Spaceman” sold 383,000 copies in January, 1996.

Mars first topped the U.K. chart last October with “Just The Way You Are (Amazing),” which held sway for two non-consecutive weeks.
Rihanna lost the top spot she occupied last week with “What’s My Name,” featuring Drake, falling 1-3, but started a third week atop the album chart with “Loud.”

Lets hope Bruno Mars stays away from the drugs, because if he does, he could have a long career.

Bruno Mars puts an end to Katy Perry’s three-week reign on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart on Wednesday, rising one place to the top with “Grenade,” his second No. 1 hit as a lead artist.

Mars previously led the chart for four weeks in the fall with “Just the Way You Are,” which was off four places to No. 10 on the latest chart, and was the featured artist on B.o.B’s May chart-topper “Nothin’ On You.”

“Grenade” sold a near-record 559,000 downloads (up 164%), according to Nielsen SoundScan, as the unwrapping of MP3 players and the traditional post-Christmas gift card redemption surge resulted in a 108% increase in overall download sales for the week. Perry’s “Firework” followed with 509,000 downloads, slipping to No. 2 on the Hot 100.

Those sums move “Grenade” and “Firework” into the Nos. 3 and 4 slots, respectively, among the biggest single-week sales frames behind Flo Rida’s “Right Round” (636,000) and Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK” (610,000), both in 2009.

Back to the Hot 100, the songs that ranked from Nos. 3-5 were all former No. 1s. Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R” rebounded two places to No. 3; “What’s My Name?” by Rihanna featuring Drake slipped one to No. 4; and Pink’s “Raise Your Glass” was off one to No. 5.

Rapper Wiz Khalifa’s first charting effort, “Black and Yellow,” jumped six places to No. 6. Enrique Iglesias was also up six, to No. 7, with “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You).”

Trey Songz’s “Bottoms Up,” featuring Nicki Minaj, hasn’t had its fill of the top 10, as it rebounded three places to No. 8. The song has climbed into the top 10 three times during its chart run, spending a cumulative nine weeks in the region. The Black Eyed Peas fell one to No. 9 with “The Time (Dirty Bit).”

The chart’s top debut belonged to comedy troupe the Lonely Island, which entered at No. 30 with “I Just Had Sex,” featuring Akon. The song was featured in a skit on the December 18 episode of “Saturday Night Live” (Lonely Island includes “SNL” cast member Andy Samberg).

Taylor Swift returned to the #1 slot on the U.S. pop album chart, pushing Susan Boyle to the #2 spot, and Michael Jackson’s album coming in at the #3 spot.

Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now” sold 259,000 copies during the week ended December 19, which was enough to give it a third nonconsecutive week at No. 1. With sales of 2.6 million after just eight weeks, “Speak Now” is the year’s third-best selling set, behind Eminem’s “Recovery” (3.2 million) and Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” (3 million).

Susan Boyle’s “The Gift” followed close behind with 254,000 copies, and a six week-total of 1.6 million. It spent four nonconsecutive weeks at #1 which is just incredible!

Jackson’s much buzzed-about “Michael” sold 228,000 copies, a little higher than initial industry prognostications last week. The late pop star topped the chart a year ago when his “This Is It” soundtrack opened to 373,000 copies.

It is true, Taylor Swift and Susan Boyle can’t be stopped!

Katy Perry’s latest hit is ruling the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart marked a second consecutive week at No. 1.

The last song to spend successive frames at the top of the Hot 100 was “Like a G6,” by Far*East Movement in late-October.

One of those former No. 1s, “What’s My Name?” by Rihanna featuring Drake, was also angling for a second shot at glory by rising one place to No. 2 on the heels of strong radio airplay. The R&B starlet held at No. 6 with “Only Girl (In the World).”

Bruno Mars moved two places to No. 3 with “Grenade.” His former No. 1, “Just the Way You Are,” held at No. 7. Pink’s “Raise Your Glass” dropped two to No. 4, while Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R” inched it’s way to No. 5.

“The Time (Dirty Bit)” by The Black Eyed Peas slid four places to No. 8, Nelly’s “Just a Dream” remained steady at No. 9, and “Bottoms Up” by Trey Songz featuring Nicki Minaj held at No. 10.

Jailed rapper T.I. claimed the top debut as “That’s All She Wrote” came in at No. 18. The tune comes from his new album “No Mercy,” which debuted at a disappointing No. 4 on the Billboard 200 on Wednesday.

Joel Madden and Nicole Richie have gone from rocker and reality TV star to husband and wife.

Richie’s publicist Nicole Perna says in an e-mail to The Associated Press Sunday that the 29-year-old socialite and her longtime boyfriend Madden were married Saturday in Los Angeles.

The 31-year-old Madden fronts the band Good Charlotte.

The couple, who dated for more than four years, have a 2-year-old daughter, Harlow Winter Kate, and a 15-month-old son, Sparrow Midnight.

Richie won national attention costarring on TV’s “The Simple Life” with Paris Hilton and has since been a staple in the tabloids. She has recently taken to writing books and designing clothes.

Richie has her own fashion line, Winter Kate, and a shoe and accessories line, House of Harlow.

Rapper T.I. has been ordered to report to a Forrest City prison and he has until November 1st to turn himself in to begin serving an 11-month jail sentence.

The hip-hop star, real name Clifford Harris Jr., was sentenced to 11 months behind bars after breaking his probation when he was arrested last month in Los Angeles on drug charges. Authorities decided not to pursue the case and it was dropped.

T.I. served six months in Forrest City last year on weapons possession charges.

Kanye West told an audience at a screening of his film, “Runaway,” that he thought about killing himself, but now feels a responsibility to make a meaningful contribution to pop culture and art.

Describing himself as a pop icon and “soldier for culture,” West told the crowd “there were times that I contemplated suicide.” However, he said, “I will not give up on life again.”

“There’s so many people that will never get the chance to have their voice heard” as loudly as his, West said Monday. “I do it for them.”

West, who didn’t say when he had considered suicide, is credited as director of the abstract 35-minute film, which features portions of nine new West songs, boldly colorful visuals and off-kilter camera angles. The mostly dialogue-free piece, set to premiere this weekend on MTV, VH1 and BET, will accompany West’s upcoming album, “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” which will be released Nov. 22.

After a prelude featuring narration from rapper Nicki Minaj, West’s character, Griffin, is seen driving a black MTX Tatra supercar down a country road. Lying next to a hole in the pavement is a phoenix fallen to Earth, played by model Selita Ebanks in pink, gray and brown feathers.

He takes her home and offers this advice: “First rule in this world, baby: Don’t pay attention to anything you see on the news.”
The phoenix sits on a lawn with a deer, rabbit and sheep, then joins West at a private parade featuring fireworks, a marching band and a float depicting Michael Jackson.

Playing over those visuals are West’s next single, “All of the Lights,” which he said features Elton John on piano and an all-star chorus including Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Fergie and John Legend.

The 33-year-old West told them that after a “long, hard year,” he’d found his “creative sweet spot” by thinking like “a 5-year-old at all times.” Besides his mother Donda West’s death in 2007, West said he’d also lost three other parental figures in the last three years.

“Everything has been taken away from me,” he said. “I’m so not … scared. I so don’t care.”

According to AOL’s Stylelist, Bieber has teamed up with Nicole by OPI to design for a collection of nail polishes that will hit stores just in time for the holidays. Among the primary colors on tap are One Less Lonely Glitter (lavender), Prized Possession Purple (grape), Give Me the First Dance (silver), Me + Blue (dark blue), OMB! (bright red) and Step 2 the Beat of My Heart (heart-shaped glitter). The first six shades will be available in December, with eight others to follow in January.

After debuting exclusively at Wal-Mart, the shades will then be available at Target, Sears and other mass merchandisers in February. That’s not the only Bieb schwag that will be hitting stores over the next few months. The singer has his first book, “Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever: My Story,” out in stores on October 12, a bevy of Halloween costume options, his upcoming line of dolls (also due in December) and his in-process 3-D concert movie, slated for release on February 11.

The “Glee” cast has surpassed the Beatles for the most appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 chart by a non-solo act.

The cast of the Fox television musical series about a high school glee club has six debuts on the chart this week. That gives it a total of 75 songs on the chart to the Beatles’ 71.

The show’s soundtrack got a boost after this week’s episode featuring the music of Britney Spears.

Elvis Presley still leads overall with 108 songs to chart on the Hot 100. He’s followed by James Brown with 91, then “Glee.”

The Beatles are sixth, behind Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin. Lil Wayne, Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z round out the Top 10.

Nielsen SoundScan says the “Glee” cast has sold 2.8 million albums and 11.5 million downloads.
