For the second time since his controversial American Music Awards performance, ABC has cancelled an appearance by Adam Lambert, this time on the network’s late night program Jimmy Kimmel Live and the annual New Year’s Eve countdown, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.
“Yes, sadly friends, ABC has cancelled my appearances on Kimmel and NYE.
don’t blame them. It’s the FCC heat … I AM doing Leno though. And lookin into something for NYE … It’ll all blow over. Let’s focus on being positive!
,” glam rocker Lambert, who finished as runner-up on American Idol in May, wrote on his Twitter account late Wednesday.
Lambert had been booked to perform on Kimmel’s outdoor stage Dec. 17 before his controversial performance at the Nov. 22 show.
Following his AMA performance in which he kissed his male keyboardist and exhibited suggestive choreography, ABC cut him from the Good Morning America lineup. He instead was invited to appear as a guest on CBS’ The Early Show.
Adam’s debut solo album, For Your Entertainment, is in stores now.
Adam Lambert’s Dad Wanted Public Apology For AMA Performance

Adam Lambert’s father urged the American Idol star to publicly apologize for his provocative performance at the American Music Awards last month after the media slammed his saucy on-stage antics.
The openly gay star stunned TV viewers with his finale at the AMAs on November 22nd by groping his dancers onstage and kissing a male keyboard player – and his shocking show led to a promotional appearance on a breakfast TV program getting the axe.
He also became the subject of news and magazine shows and filled blogs and newspaper column inches. Nine days after the headline-grabbing AMAs performance, Lambert sat down with sympathetic lesbian talk show host Ellen Degeneres to review the past week as part of an appearance on her daytime show.
He accepted he “got caught up in the moment and maybe went a little too far,” and revealed members of his own family were shocked by just how far he went: My dad was like, ‘I think you should apologize, Adam. I don’t know. Maybe you should do that.’ I was like, ‘Well dad, I don’t feel like I did anything wrong; it just maybe wasn’t the right judgment call.’”
Even though he’s not apologizing for his racy stage show, Lambert told DeGeneres he understands why TV bosses at ABC axed his appearance on TV show Good Morning America.
He said, “I don’t blame them. I got carried away.”
Adam Lambert’s AMA Performance Draws Complaints

ABC television said it has received about 1,500 complaints on Monday about the sexually-charged performance by “American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert at the American Music Awards on Sunday.
Millions of viewers saw Lambert simulate oral sex with a back-up dancer, plant a passionate kiss on the mouth of a male keyboard player and gesture to the audience with his middle finger during the closing act of the live music awards show.
ABC cut the most controversial part of his act — Lambert rubbing the face of a male dancer in his crotch — from the U.S. West Coast telecast that aired later on Sunday.
By the time the West Coast feed aired, Lambert’s performance was all the buzz on Twitter and the video of his performance had already been posted on YouTube.
The shows producers, Dick Clark Productions, said they did not know what Lambert had planned after seeing his rehearsals prior to the show. “We did not expect the impromptu moments,” a spokeswoman told Reuters.
“Adrenaline is a crazy, crazy, crazy feeling. Some of the things I love most about performing is when you’re up there and all of the sudden you just have these feelings, this rush that comes over you,” Lambert told CNN afterward.
It is unclear whether or not ABC is at risk for being fined by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for broadcasting indecent or profane material.
What do you think? Did Adam go too far given that this was his first performance post-Idol?

American Idol star Adam Lambert has defended his same-sex kiss onstage at the American Music Awards on Sunday after angry viewers complained about his risqué performance.
The openly gay singer, who claimed second place in the hit TV talent show in May, stunned audiences with a saucy rendition of his debut single For Your Entertainment, groping and writhing with dancers dressed in bondage outfits. He concluded the track by pulling his male keyboardist in for a passionate kiss.
Concerned viewers flooded internet forums with complaints about Lambert moments after he concluded the ceremony.
However, the star insists he wasn’t trying to offend viewers, telling the Los Angeles Times, “I’m hoping people were entertained. For those who weren’t, maybe I’m not their cup of tea. I’m just trying to have a good time onstage. It’s a sexy song. It’s 2009; it’s time to take more risks. It’s about entertainment. People want to be surprised. It’s too bad that people are so scared.”
And the 27 year old argued that female pop stars have incorporated their sexuality into live shows for years.

The CMA Entertainer of the Year is also the AMA Artist of the Year. The King of Pop was honored with four American Music Awards on Sunday night, but it was 19-year-old country star Taylor Swift who was honored as “Artist of the Year”.
“Music has never been ultimately about competition, and to be mentioned in a category with Michael Jackson is an incredible honor.” She also thanked the Jackson family after receiving the night’s biggest honor.
Taylor Swift, up for six awards at tonight’s ceremony at the Nokia Theater in Los Angees, is currently across the pond in London, where she’ll be performing a concert on Monday, November 23. After she was announced the winner of the Favorite Pop/Rock Female award, the “Fearless” singer was beamed in via satellite to thank her fans for the award — despite the fact that it was already 2AM in Britain: “I will never be able to say how much I love you,” Taylor — who also earned statuettes for Favorite Adult-Contemporary Artist and Favorite Country Female — told her fans.
Also missing from tonight’s show? Beyonce, who won a prize for Favorite Female Soul/R&B artist. The “Sasha Fierce” singer is currently on tour in Dublin.
