RIP DJ A.M.

DJ AM was found dead today at his New York apartment, according to PerezHilton.com. Reports are suggesting that he died of an apparent drug overdose – prescription pill bottles and a crack pipe were found in the apt. Friends had been trying to reach him and knocking on his door for days before the police broke down the door to find his body. So sad.
Let us leave you with a tune – his last post on Twitter – his last communication to the public: Grandmaster Flash “New York, New York” (pay attention to the lyrics)

Lollapalooza kicks of with a Downpour

Today was day one of the annual Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, and it started off with some massive rain. Can anybody say mudslide?!
Some of the big acts today were Ben Folds, The Decemberists, Kings of Leon, Bon Iver (AMAZING), KiD CuDi, Thievery Corporation, and Depeche Mode. That’s a pretty strong first day!
The rest of the weekend is looking pretty strong as well, with sunny weather in the forecast. On Saturday you are looking at some great energetic shows like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Animal Collective, and Bassnectar (one of the best live shows you will ever see). Bassnectar plays Saturday night from 8:30 to 10:00 – that will be a night to remember!
Sunday will be pretty epic with Janes Addiction, Ra Ra Riot, Snoop Dogg, and the Killers.
We can’t wait to hear how the festival goes from all you lollapaloozas out there. If you weren’t able to make it, watch the live Lollapalooza podcast here: http://tinyurl.com/mnljeq.
The Must-Have Soundtrack: 500 Days of Summer

All of these songs evoke so much emotion, and come from very different genres of music. From Regina Spektor and Feist to Simon & Garfunkel and Wolfmother . . . this soundtrack rocks. Go spend that $13.99 you would waste at the bar and bless your ears.
