Nick Lachey has confirmed that former boy band 98 degress will not be hitting the road for a summer tour this year.

A report by Rumorfix picked up traction from several outlets in late March after the band’s formerly stagnant website reportedly posted an update regarding a 15-city reunion tour. At the time, band member Jeff Timmons tweeted: “Look, you can never believe rumors, but I’d be open to it for sure!”

Lachey ended those rumors on Thursday, tweeting that he was “So psyched to see all the excitement for a 98 degree tour, but the only tour I’ll be doing this summer is at baby’s ‘r us!” The singer does appear to be open to the idea in the future, adding the hashtag “#neversaynever.”

98 Degrees is best known for their pop hits “Because of You,” “The Hardest Thing” and “Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche).” The group released five albums, including one holiday disc, between 1996 and 2002. The band has yet to reunite over the past 10 years, but all have pursued additional projects.

Lil Wayne just signed a 4-album deal with Cash Money records, he announced in an interview on new MTV show “Hip Hop POV.”

Lil Wayne has been signed to the label since he was 11 years old.

“Contract-wise, I only get paid for 12 songs. Maybe on a Carter album, you probably only gonna get 12 songs, maybe a bonus 13,” Weezy said during the interview. “But on this I Am Not a Human Being thing, I really don’t care… you’re probably gonna get 16 on there.”

Wayne also announced that he’s working on an album of “love songs” – but in the Wayne style, not the typical crooners one might imagine. The album will be titled Devol – “loved” spelled backward – and was borne out of his preoccupations while serving eight months in prison in 2010.

Fun.’s “We Are Young,” featuring Janelle Monae, leads the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart for a sixth week. In doing so, it becomes the first song ever to log six weeks of 300,000 or more in digital sales.

With 390,000 downloads sold in the April 2-8 tracking period, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the song returns for a seventh frame atop Hot Digital Songs (2-1). With its latest weekly sum, “Young” has sold at least 300,000-plus for six straight weeks, becoming the first song ever to reach such a total in each of six weeks – consecutive or not.

With its latest sales frame, “Young” passes 3 million in digital sales to date, becoming the only song to reach the milestone this year. In all of 2011, 14 songs sold in excess of 3 million – while, at this point last year, no titles had reached the mark.

“Young” also tops the Radio Songs chart, rising 2-1 with 120 million all-format audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS. As it tops the tally in its seventh week, the track completes the fastest Radio Songs coronation by a group since Destiny’s Child’s “Survivor” reached the summit in its fifth frame in 2001.

Pink Friday Roman Reloaded

Nicki Minaj scores her second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 as “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” debuts atop the list with 253,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

“Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” is not a reissue of the original “Pink Friday” album — despite its confusing title. It’s an all-new release, led by its official first single “Starships.” The track has already sailed to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The album that “Roman Reloaded” replaces, Madonna’s “MDNA,” falls to No. 8 with 48,000 (down 86.7%) It debuted at No. 1 last week with 359,000. Its steep drop is the largest second-week percentage decline for a No. 1-debuting album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991.

It surpasses the record set by Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way,” when it fell 84.27% in its second week on the chart dated June 18, 2011. “Born This Way” bowed the previous frame at No. 1 with 1.11 million, and then sold 174,000 in its second week at the top of the chart.

Justin Bieber will win an award at the 11th Tribeca Film Festival in New York City, organizers announced this week.

The Tribeca Film Institute’s annual Interactive Day will take place on Monday, April 23. Designed as a day to explore what TFF calls “the digital media ecosystem,” it will feature a keynote address from Baratunde Thurston, director of digital for The Onion, and an interactive case study in the transmedia rollout of HBO’s series “Game of Thrones.”

The awards, which are designed “to highlight successful disruptive innovation in non-traditional, identity-based domains,” will include Lifetime Achievement Awards to Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter and Square, and John Wood, the founder of Room to Read.

Justin Bieber, who the TFF press release identifies as a “Global Superstar,” will receive an award with his manager, Scooter Braun, for the YouTube discovery and phenomenal success of a career that TFF says “disrupted the traditional gatekeepers of the music industry.” Bieber is expected to appear to collect his award.

The Tribeca Film Festival begins on April 18 and runs through April 29 in Lower Manhattan.

One Direction Being Sued By Band With Same Name

British boy band One Direction has been sued for trademark infringement because it is using the same name as a small California pop-rock group.

The California band says it is entitled to three times the profits made by their rivals, as well as compensatory damages in excess of $1 million.

The northern California band has been using the name One Direction since late 2009 and has recorded two albums, the lawsuit states. It filed an application to register the trademark name in the United States in February 2011.

The British band, made up of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles placed third on “The X Factor” and went on to top the U.K. charts with their first single.

The five man California band has a much lower profile. Led by singer and pianist Sean O’Leary, its members began making music at school and the group has played at local fairs and bars, according to their website.

The lawsuit said the continued use by both bands of the same name was causing “substantial confusion and substantial damage” to the goodwill earned by the California group.
