DeathCabForCutie

Death Cab For Cutie has just landed their single ‘Meet Me On The Equinox’ on the highly anticipated New Moon soundtrack.

The band released the following statement –

“We are very excited to be a part of this amazing series of novels set in our own backyard. It just seemed a perfect synergy that a band from the Northwest would create a song for a series of novels set in the Northwest.”

They went on to say, “We wrote ‘Meet Me On the Equinox’ to reflect the celestial themes and motifs that run throughout the Twilight series and we wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters. This song marks the first attempt that Death Cab for Cutie has ever made at contributing new, unreleased material for a film and we are proud to be a part of the Twilight legacy.”

Fans will get a first listen of ‘Meet Me On The Equinox’ during the MTV Video Music Awards on September 13th.

Even with the American Idol Tour in full force, the race is on for the signed finalist to complete and release their debut albums.

Adam Lambert told Billboard.com that he is about half way done recording his album. “We recorded a bunch of stuff before the tour started, and I wrote a handful of stuff,” he reported. “We have three or four weeks after the tour ends that I have to record like crazy, but we have a lot of material to do that with.”

On his album –

“[It] has elements of rock, of course, but it has a lot of pop sensibilities to it. It’s really current, really fresh and yet still melodically and vocally it’s nodding to the ’70s and ’80s classics. I know I got most of my credibility on ‘Idol’ doing those songs from those eras, and it wouldn’t make sense for me to do an album that runs away from it.”

Allison Iraheta has been busy writing with Kevin Rudolf and David Hodges for her debut album.

On her album –

“[It will] definitely have that rock sound to it. It’ll be fun, and there’s gonna be some deep stuff, too — like, lyrics about what can possibly be happening to other people in the world right now that I’ve gone through myself, but also melodically, just some good, slow rock ballads.”

Arctic Monkeys Top U.K. Albums Chart

The English modern rock band’s third album “Humbug” (Domino) outsold the rest of the top five combined to debut at the top. Arctic Monkeys scored its third U.K. No. 1 album and Dizzee Rascal his third No. 1 single in the territory as the new charts were published Sunday by the Official Charts Company.

For the first time since his death, Michael Jackson surrendered the top spot on European Top 100 Albums, replaced by Black Eyed Peas’ “The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies)” (Interscope/Universal). Pitbull’s “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)” (Ultra/B1) is in a sixth week at No. 1 on Eurochart Hot 100 Singles.

Cranberries No need to argue

The hugely successful Irish rock band The Cranberries will reunite after taking a 7 year break to tour North America and Europe. They will be performing most of their hit songs and some news ones as well.

“Never officially broken up, the band instead has been on hiatus, and being in the same room and playing music together for the first time made them realize how much they had missed each other,” posted on the band’s web site.

The Cranberries is one of the most successful Irish bands of recent times. They were formed in the early 1990s. They will begin touring in North America toward the end of the year and continue in Europe in early 2010, the web site said.

Just for fun! Check out the music video for “Zombie” which was one of the bands biggest hits. Does it bring back any memories? Hahaha

Jay-Z held a news conference today, August 31st, 2009 to discuss the details of his upcoming “Answer The Call” charity concert at Madison Square Garden on September 11th, 2009. The concert will raise money for the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund.

The event is being sponsored by Absolut Vodka, Roc Nation, Live Nation, Citi and Fuse TV, will be televised live on Fuse at 9pm EST on Sept. 11th. All tickets will be priced at $50, with 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales and concert merchandise going to New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund. Additional information can be found at answerthecall.org.

“This all came about September 10th, 2001. I was in Los Angeles shooting a video. The album was to come out the next day. On that day, I got a phone call and a friend of mine said, ‘turn the TV on.’ I turned the TV on and I saw the World Trade Center on fire,” Jay-Z said. “It looked like a movie to me — it didn’t look like anything that could be real. The last thing I was thinking about was the album. The first thing I thought about was, ‘What happens from here? What happens tomorrow? How will this continue?

“I turned the TV on September 12th and I saw footage of these heroic actions, people running to buildings and saving each other and I saw the strength of New York,” Jay-Z continued. “It made me proud. So, as I was embarking on putting out ‘Blueprint 3,’ it was only right that we revisit that day. This is my chance to do something to help out.”

John Mayer will have to hand over $25,000 to charity, after losing a bet over his criminal record.

Mayer bet editors at TMZ.com they couldn’t track down a mug shot taken of him, following his arrest in 2001 for driving with a suspended license.

He offered to donate the sum to a charity of site editor Harvey Levin’s choice, and will have to dig deep after resourceful journalists tracked down the incriminating snap.

John Mayer’s money will go to an animal charity.
