Join Mix 100.5 fm on Friday February 6th at 9pm for a special acoustic evening inside the Starlight Lounge at the Palm Springs Riviera Resort & Spa. The lounge will feature Ferras, who’s hit song “Hollywood’s Not America” has garnered rave reviews from People Magazine, Billboard, USA Today and the New York Post. The track was also featured on last seasons American Idol.
The bill will also feature Paige Williams, a singer and songwriter (nominated Best Rock Artist for the 2008 LA Music Awards) originally from Palm Springs whose career is currently blossoming in the Los Angeles area. She displays a modern mix of pop and rock and is very much looking forward to playing a special acoustic set in front of family and friends here in her home town!
Rounding out the night is the very talented Michael Keeth, whose fronted many popular rock groups here in the Desert. Michael has headlined historic venues such as the Whisky on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles and co-headlined a sold out concert with Dishwalla in Riverside. His acoustic show mixes a blend of Radiohead meets Pearl Jam meets Jack Johnson. This acoustic evening will display the true essence of music to celebrate the kick-off of Grammy weekend 2009.

Kelly Clarkson – My Life Would Suck Without You
Kelly Clarkson debuted her latest music video for “My Life Would Suck Without You” today and it’s official, SHE’S BACK!
The video is cute, playful, and fun…and it shows the Kelly that we all fell in love with shortly after she won American Idol. She looks great in the video and proves why she’s a pop star.
MCCARTNEY, KILLERS, CURE ANCHOR COACHELLA LINEUP

Paul McCartney, the Killers and the Cure lead the bill for the tenth Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, to be held April 17-19 at Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calif. Also confirmed are My Bloody Valentine, Amy Winehouse, Morrissey, Leonard Cohen and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
McCartney will be making his maiden American festival appearance at the event. “I have heard that Coachella is one of the greatest festivals in the world,” he said in a statement. “I’m really excited to get out there and rock!”
Coachella has been after My Bloody Valentine for years, and nearly had the band booked for its 2008 festival. But frontman Kevin Shields ultimately decided the freshly reunited MBV would not have been ready to perform by last year’s show date and instead waited until the fall before playing North American shows.
As for Winehouse, this will be her first major American appearance since performing at the 2008 Grammy Awards. The U.K. artist’s 2007 Coachella set came at a time when she was breaking through in the States with her single “Rehab” and album “Back to Black,” but in the past 18 months she’s been beset with drug problems and erratic behavior.
Meanwhile, Cohen’s Coachella appearance will be part of his first North American tour in 15 years, which begins Feb. 19 in New York.
Other highlights of the festival lineup include Fleet Foxes, Conor Oberst, the Black Keys, the Hold Steady, Superchunk, Dr. Dog, TV On The Radio, Okkervil River and Band Of Horses from the world of indie rock; and MSTRKRFT, Girl Talk, Thievery Corporation, the Crystal Method, Throbbing Gristle, Groove Armada and Roni Size from the dance and electronic community.
The Drive-By Truckers will perform their own set on April 18 as well as back soul legend Booker T & the MGs, while rock veterans such as X, Paul Weller, Henry Rollins and Bob Mould add a dose of experience to the lineup.
Among the buzz bands and notable newcomers playing this year are White Lies, who currently have the No. 1 album in the United Kingdom, N.A.S.A., the Airborne Toxic Event, Cage the Elephant, Gang Gang Dance, Hercules and Love Affair, Vivian Girls, Lykke Li, Late Of The Pier, the Knux and the Gaslight Anthem.
Coachella tickets go on sale this morning via Ticketmaster. For the first time, festival promoter Goldenvoice is offering a layaway plan for three-day passes, which is available only online and through Feb. 28.
Here is the lineup for the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival:

CLAUDE KELLY HITS BIG WITH CLARKSON, SPEARS

(Billboard.com – Mariel Concepcion, N.Y.)
Last summer, singer/songwriter Claude Kelly told Billboard he hoped to work with Kelly Clarkson in the future. Six months later, not only has he co-written the pop singer’s latest single, “My Life Would Suck Without You,” but he’s sharing in its record-breaking success.
As previously reported, the song jumps 97-1 this week on the Billboard Hot 100, setting a record for the largest leap to the top in the history of the chart.
“This is a huge deal for me. I’m beyond words,” the 28-year-old New York native tells Billboard. “I feel very accomplished and relieved to know that hard work definitely pays off.”
The lead single from Clarkson’s March 17 RCA album “All I Ever Wanted,” “My Life Would Suck Without You” was co-written with writer/producer Max Martin (Britney Spears) and songwriter Dr. Luke (Katy Perry). “Max had an idea of some of the concepts. They came up with the music, Max threw some ideas at me, and then they threw me in the mix,” Kelly says of the songwriting process.
The song is Kelly’s second top 10 Hot 100 this week. He also co-wrote Britney Spears’ “Circus,” which is No. 10 after peaking at No. 3 last month.
Coming up, look for Kelly’s work on new albums from R. Kelly (“Expect a creative, soulful, classic R. Kelly record,” he says), Toni Braxton, Leona Lewis, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, Chrisette Michele and Corbin Bleu. Some songs he worked on with Jennifer Hudson are also likely to appear on a re-release of her self-titled J debut.
JARED LEE – WHO IS HE?

He’s amazing is what he is. I did not know him either until about 10:00 last night when his voice filled the walls of The Green Door with pure bliss. My mouth was on the floor. Take the soul from Gavin Degraw and the song writing from the Fray, the weight from One Republic, and you’ve got Jared Lee. Are you intimidated?
Sadly, nothing on the internet does him any justice. The songs on his myspace are overproduced and don’t carry half of the weight they have when you hear them live. If I had it my way, I would buy a CD of exactly what I heard last night. Then he could come out with other versions of some of his upbeat songs with awesome beats like what Timbaland did with One Republic. The songs have so much versatility, but I think live is the best bet – Grey’s Anatomy would eat them up in a heartbeat, haha. Here is a video that does him maybe 1/4 the justice of what I experienced last night. Enjoy!
TAYLOR SWIFT IS “FEARLESS”

Taylor Swift is staying strong at No.1 on the Billboard 200 for the seventh week in a row! She now has the longest running number 1 album by a solo female artist since Alanis Morissette with Jagged Little Pill.
In the last week, her album has sold 63,000 copies in the US alone and over 2.3 million copies total. Not even Beyonce, who comes in at number 2 this week, can take her down.
Check out the official music video for her single “Love Story”.
KELLY CLARKSON – LIFE WOULD SUCK WITHOUT HER

Thank God she’s back!
Kelly Clarkson debuted her newest single this week and she’s hitting it big. My Life Would Suck Without You is currently the #1 single on iTunes and it’s only been out for a few days.
Many people considered her last album, My December, to be a mistake, but I disagree. She took a risk and released a project that she believed in as a singer/songwriter and artist. It might have lacked mainstream appeal, but the album had some great songs on it. I recommend checking out Sober. Kelly expressed herself for the first time since she was launched into the scene by American Idol. It was all a part of growing up for her.
With her latest single, she’s out to top the charts yet again after working with Max Martin and Dr. Luke who produced the track. My Life Would Suck Without You is definitely more radio friendly and people are responding to it quickly.
Congratulations!

5 Promotional Tips For Musicians On Myspace

So, you’ve recorded some new music and thinking of promoting it on Myspace. Not quite sure what to do? Thanks to the guys over at Bridegroom and Bitney, here are 5 easy tips to help promote your music or band on Myspace.
@ Create a Myspace Music profile. This is not the standard profile, so make sure you choose the right one. A music profile will allow you to upload your music for fans to listen to.
@ Personalize your profile. Design a layout that reflects your music and style. Check out some of your favorite artists’ pages for inspiration. You can find ‘how to’ guides online or hire a web designer that specializes in Myspace layouts.
@ Be Social. Myspace is about connecting with your fans as well as potential fans. Send friend requests to anyone
involved in your music career as well as those you’d like to be a part of it. Make a presence for yourself by interacting with similar artists and their fans and they’ll become yours, too.
@ Comments. Leaving comments on your friends pages is a great way to promote yourself as well as your music. Don’t just post impersonal, generic comments. Keep them personal and respond when someone leaves you a comment.
@ Update! With the millions of users on myspace and new musicians popping up everyday, it’s important to constantly update your page to keep your fans attention or someone else will. Add new music, write a blog, add new photos, upload videos, create contests and giveaways – whatever you can do to keep people coming back.
