Justin Bieber is now old enough to drive a car — and he wants to shows it off in his newest video.

The 18-year-old pop star debuted the eagerly-anticipated video for “Boyfriend,” the first single off his upcoming album, “Believe,” which Bieber has promised will feature a more mature sound than the bubbly tween-friendly material that has defined his career to date.

The promised steamy opening that was teased in the preview that Bieber showed to a national audience on NBC’s “The View” earlier this month, however, turns out to have been one big tease.

The Director X-directed clip opens with that footage — and then promptly cuts to the actual video.

Bieber, who now rocks a ’90s boy band-style haircut, drives a sports car in circles and then gets revved up by dancing with several hotter — and older-looking — women.

“I wanted to do something that was a little more mature,” the Canadian boy wonder said on MTV after unveiling the clip Thursday night. “My fans are growing up with me.”

Justin Bieber has revealed that his upcoming album “Believe,” his third, will feature a songwriting collaboration with Taylor Swift.

The U.K.’s Capital FM Radio posted audio yesterday from a recent conversation with Bieber on the program Vodafone Big Top 40 in which Bieber announced the country-pop singer-songwriter will join Believe’s all-star guest list.

When asked whether the Swift collaboration would have a country flavor, Bieber replied in the affirmative and explained that “Believe” will reflect a diverse range of styles.

“It doesn’t stay in a box,” he explained. “Everything is so different and that’s why I’m so happy with this album.”

Other “Believe” guests include Drake, Kanye West, Timbaland and Diplo. On Monday, Bieber announced on Twitter that the album will also include a duet with Usher. “Believe” is expected to come out this summer.

Boy band fever is storming the music scene in the United States, led by the Brits who are breaking away from the slick, squeaky-clean image of old as they battle to become America’s newest pin-ups.

The five young men of The Wanted take on their baby-faced rivals One Direction with their self-titled debut EP released this week, following One Direction’s No. 1 first album on the U.S. Billboard charts last month.

It’s more than 10 years since New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys and N’Sync ruled the U.S. music scene and sent hordes of screaming young girls to record stores.

In Britain, boy bands have never gone out of fashion, although the new breed appears to have grown up.

If One Direction are the co-ordinated, clean-cut, media-savvy boy band, The Wanted are the rebellious antidote, uncensored by their team and left to win over audiences by goofing around with each other, and the media.

“We’re different, we all play instruments, we don’t dance and we don’t dress very well,” The Wanted’s Tom Parker told Reuters.

The Wanted – Parker, Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness and Nathan Sykes, aged between 19 and 23 – were put together after mass auditions in the U.K. in 2009, and are managed by Scooter Braun, the mastermind behind Canadian teen idol Justin Bieber.

“All the acts that I manage are built organically and they all get to be exactly who they are,” said Braun, 30, who encourages The Wanted to be open about drinking, partying and dating girls.

“I used to be a party promoter the last time boy bands were huge, and I knew a lot of those guys, and they like to party and drink and do all that stuff too. But they always had to hide it, and I think it’s refreshing to see a boy band that doesn’t hide it and that doesn’t care,” Braun added.

One Direction – formed of Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, all aged between 18 and 20 – were put together in 2010, and are managed by Simon Cowell.

One Direction’s image is more carefully groomed and choreographed in the vein of the boy band stereotype but that didn’t stop a controversial romance between Styles and a British TV presenter 15 years his senior, prior to the band making their U.S. debut.

“We don’t mind at all being called a boy band, we’re just lads in a band. But I think we’re trying to do something a little bit different…it’s a bit more relaxed, lads having fun, we do what we want,” said One Direction’s Payne.

Both bands fall squarely into the pop genre, with One Direction embracing innocent, fun love songs such as with their lead single “What Makes You Beautiful,” which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Wanted have taken a more adult route, with heavier dance beats and raunchier music videos such as their single “Glad You Came,” peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

“Their music is really different to ours and I think anyone can see that, and you can like one or the other or both,” said The Wanted’s McGuiness.

“A lot of people expect boy bands to cater music exclusively to young girls…we accept that a lot of young girls do like us, but we respect their musical choice as much as we respect a 50-year-old dude,” McGuiness added.

DIRECTIONERS VS. TEAM WANTED

The Wanted have received mixed critical reviews for their debut EP in the United States, released this week.

August Brown at the Los Angeles Times said that while The Wanted were “saucier and sleeker” than One Direction, their music wasn’t “nearly as fun,” while Maura Johnston at Rolling Stone said “their dance pop droops where it should bounce.”

Devoted fans, known as “Directioners” and “Team Wanted,” compete on Twitter to make the bands a trending topic, and have been a fundamental part in driving sales.

“As much as we don’t try to be perfect all the time, we knew America had an idea of boy bands…we have to thank them because they welcomed us with open arms, and we could never have expected it,” said McGuiness.

One Direction’s first album, “Up All Night,” sold more than 176,000 copies in its first week, entering the Billboard 200 album chart at No. 1 and making history as the first UK band to debut at the top with their first album.

The Wanted also look set to chart high, currently at No. 7 on iTunes.

One Direction has more than 5 million fans on Facebook and 3.2 million “Directioners” following on Twitter, while The Wanted have more than 1.6 million fans on Facebook and 500,000 Twitter followers.

Parker from The Wanted called the adulation “pretty weird at times” and Horan from One Direction admitted he gets a “bit scared” when their female fan base are driven into a frenzy.

Manager Braun brushes off critics who dismiss boy bands as mere manufactured creations.

“People forget that the Beatles were once a cheesy boy band – that’s what America other than the teenage girls thought. But then they kept making great records…when you make great songs, everyone else just shuts up,” said Braun.

Former White Stripes frontman Jack White’s debut solo album ‘Blunderbuss’ knocked Adele’s ’21′ off the top of Britain’s charts on Sunday, and Carly Rae Jepsen managed to keep a new single from Calvin Harris from the No. 1 spot.

Soul singer-songwriter Adele’s album has been a fixture near the top of Britain’s charts for more than a year, and U.S. magazine Time recently named her among the world’s 100 most influential people in 2011 – an accolade not received by Britain’s prime minister, David Cameron.

However, she lost the top spot this week to the blues-influenced ‘Blunderbuss’ by Jack White, who found fame with the White Stripes until the band split in February 2011, the Official Charts Company said.

Singers Lana Del Rey and Nicki Minaj traded places to stand third and fourth respectively, while Rufus Wainwright’s album ‘Out of the Game’ was a new entry at No. 5.

In the singles chart, Canadian Idol talent show contestant Carly Rae Jepsen remained at No. 1 with ‘Call Me Maybe’, which has sold 434,000 copies to date and is on track to be one of 2012′s top-selling records.

Scottish singer-songwriter Calvin Harris, who produced Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’, was in second place with ‘Let’s Go’, which features U.S. R&B singer Ne-Yo. It was the only new entry in this week’s top 40 singles chart.

The Country Music realm is always full of fun songs and great spirits, and the 2012 CMT Music Awards nominations were released earlier this morning (April 23).

And it’s no surprise that perennial favorite Carrie Underwood has the most nods this year, competing in a total of five categories.

Jennifer Lopez is hitting the road this summer, and she’s taking Enrique Iglesias with her.

The “American Idol” judge is set to launch a 60-date world tour in South America in June and will be joined by her “Mouth 2 Mouth” duet partner Iglesias. A source close to Lopez told Celebuzz she “is very excited about him joining the tour.”

“This will be a huge tour, complete with a lavish set, full band and team of dancers,” the source added.

While concert promoter AEG has not confirmed all dates, Lopez and Iglesias will reportedly visit the United States, South America, Europe and Asia this summer after this season of “Idol” concludes. The tour will make its way through Venezuela, Chile, Argentina and Brazil before returning to the U.S. for a planned second round of production rehearsals with shows beginning here in mid-July.

Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg resurrected late rapper Tupac Shakur as an onstage hologram singing hit songs and wowing crowds alongside other hip hop stars to close the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Sunday night.

The life-sized figure of Shakur, who died at age 25 in a 1996 shooting, appeared on stage with Snoop Dogg causing a lull to fall momentarily across thousands of people gathered to see the set.

The Tupac hologram performed “Hail Mary” and “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted” with Snoop Dogg before dissipating into thin air.

Jack White, Foo Fighters, Stevie Wonder, Skrillex and Metallica are billed for the fifth annual Outside Lands festival, set for August 10-12 in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Beck, Sigur Ros, Big Boi and more are also set to appear at the fest, along with a host of bands shaking the rust off from their lengthy breaks — Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, Regina Spektor, Grandaddy (!) etc — and hotly tipped newcomers like Alabama Shakes, Of Monsters and Men and Yellow Ostrich.

All in all, Outside Lands organizers announced more than 60 bands for the bill — with more set to be revealed in the coming weeks. Tickets for the fest will go on sale Thursday at noon PT through SFOutsideLands.com, and a portion of every ticket sold directly benefits San Francisco’s Recreation and Park Department.

Whitney Houston’s ex-husband Bobby Brown pleaded not guilty on Monday to a charge of drunk driving and driving on a suspended license in Los Angeles last month.

43-year-old Brown did not appear in court for Monday’s hearing and his plea was entered by his lawyer. A pre-trial hearing was set for May 16.

Brown was arrested on March 26, about six weeks after the sudden death of Houston, when police pulled him over for talking on his cellphone while driving. He then failed a sobriety test, police said.

Brown has a string of arrests over the years for battery, drunk driving and parole violations.
